  • Great vid, a lot of information. Thanks

  • Thank you for the great review and explanations on this line. I am a fan of polymer guns (being someone who only owned Glock handguns before) and the SP2022 drew me in. I picked up one last year in .40S&W and this year bought a 357 barrel for it so I could experience that cartridge as well. My question is do you like the double action trigger pull of the 2022? I find that I have to press too far back and does not give me a good feel when the weapon will fire. I don't have a problem with S/A

  • @002nd2nunn It is a long double action. The trigger has to bottom out at the back of the trigger guard before the sear lets go which puts a strain on your trigger finger (IMHO). I've shot this gun enough where I've forgotten about it. I'll say one thing, it's no GLOCK that for sure.

  • Great review, right on point.

  • @asig4me Thanks!

  • whats are your thoughts on the sig pro( 2009 year) plastic guide rod vs the metal guide rod

  • @wkpowe IMHO, the polymer guide rod will do the same job that the metal one does. The plastic is a Delron based synthetic plastic which is very, very durable. The overall function is to keep the recoil spring from binding. The plastic one will do just that with no problem. The mindset is that plastic is cheap and metal is better.

  • @SINBAD396 Good video! So I was wondering in your opinion is the 2022 just as good if not better than the 226 or 229? Maybe that's a dumb question but I'm interested in the 2022..

  • @pecosojones89 Actually this is one of my favorite question I get in the firearms industry. Guns are like cars. Cars drive you home from work, gun shoot a bullet. Some are better than others. It just comes down to cost and what looks good to you as the buyer. The 226 is just a big honking gun and great for the range, but not easy to carry concealed. The feel, fit and cost will be the deciding factor between the 229 and the 2022. I own both and love both equally.

  • @SINBAD396 thank you sir

  • Where can I get a barrel to make my 40 shoot 9?

  • @hefedehefe I would look at Barsto barrels. They make a really nice aftermarket barrel. You could get a factory Sig barrel, but you'll pay about the same price.

  • @SINBAD396 Really? I havent seem any that will convert the .40 to 9mm though : /

  • @hefedehefe Just buy the 9mm barrel and a few magazines and that's it. It's not truly or technically what you would call a "conversation" barrel.

  • @SINBAD396 I ended up getting a ported 9mm fire dragon discontinued barrel. Maybe you can make a vidoe of how the 9mm barrel fits in the .40 and share with everybody :D

  • @hefedehefe It's a drop in and go conversion. A real no brainer. The only thing you need now is a 9mm magazine and your good to go. I know. I need to start doing some more videos. I've just been busy with working and training. I'll have something soon.

  • @SINBAD396 Ima try to use the .40 mags. It works great with my XD40 to 9mm. I got the conversion barrel, but I dont know if a regular 9mm oem barrel will fit and work in the .40 slide???Hmmm...I gues Ima have to have my friend bring his 9mm and try it lol

  • @sinbad396 for me, this is my carry piece and it seems like the baseplate is the only thing that tries to print, plus, my pinky comes no where near touching the mag now so I feel like it's not needed. I would just like to have the option for a flush mag.

  • @SINBAD396 Any idea where the flush mount floor plates can be had? If not, could I dremel the regular mag down to make it work?

  • @fenderrocks84 I had about a couple dozen only a couple months ago and sold them. I like the extended ones with the pinky rest. Could you dremel them? I guess you could. Question; what's the fascination with the flush mount floor plates? Your not the first to ask about them. Just curious.......

  • @SINBAD396 Yes, I bought it brand new. My local dealer had it in stock for a while and was just sitting in his inventory until I snagged it.

  • I just bought the Sig Pro SP 2022 chambered in 9mm. Like you, I think the pistol is pretty sweet. I put about 150 rounds thru it so far and had zero issues. I have a question, my particular pistol has no external extractor and no loaded chamber indicator. However, the frame says it was made in Exeter NH. Does that mean the slide is German made and the frame was made in Exeter?! Thanks for the video.

  • @RTmiklo Is it new in the box? I know that the internal extractor and the round chamber gate have only been a standard now for just over a year or so. It could be one that was caught in the middle of the transition. Glad you like it. Enjoy it and be safe.

  • Can you buy a solid firing pin retaining pin for the SP2022?

  • @Kvjavs I doubt it. You can try contacting customer service and see if they will sell you one. But I wouldn't hold my breath. They may try talking you out of it or even sending it in to have the work done there. Let me know how it turns out.

  • @SINBAD396 Thanks. I haven't made my decision to buy this pistol just yet, but if I do I'll give it a shot. Nice video by the way.

  • Cool review. Like your no nonsense approach to this vid. I pick up my 2022 in about 4 days. Can't wait to break it in. After seeing this video, I'm gonna keep an eye out for that German model.

    Thanks!

  • @rackman1n2 Thanks! Glad my vid helped you out. Hope you enjoy your new Sig Pro.

  • nothing wrong with external extractors. last time i checked they can both fuck up. doubt mine ever will..

  • @tylormurphy True, but my point was that there was nothing wrong with the original internal design so I don't understand why they changed the design. I just saw a new Sig with the massive external extractor and the retaining pin drilled down from the top of the slide. WTF is up with that?????

  • @tylormurphy Oh I agree. Nothing wrong with them at all. I just don't understand why the changed the design.

  • I have thE Sig Pro Blueline 2340 Great Gun. Enjoyed your Vid...

  • how hard would it be to find an all german made model these days?

  • @arsehole420 The all German made versions where plentiful about 3 years ago, but their still out there. I honestly think it might be a little changeling right now to find one. But I think it's worth the search.

  • @sinbad396- I left this message on your other video to where you were at your buddy's gun shop. But I wanted to ask you on the new sp2022 where that hollow pin is on the slide, can it be replaced with a solid one or are you stuck with the hollow one? Thank you

  • Just picked up an SP2022. Seems like there's tons of variations out there. Mine is from Exeter, but has an internal extractor. It also doesn't have the LCI (which I never cared for anyway).

  • @z28ken Yeah, that is strange. Congratz on the new gun.

  • My Opinion, The Sig Pro is a home run!

  • screw the ban for any firearm or magazine! we have our 2nd amendment rights! Don't let big government scare anyone into submission!!

  • Would a German made SP2022 cost more than a US made SP2022?

  • @duke3oh8 It should by a couple dollars in my opinion. That is of course if the dealer knows what he has. The Ilaflon coating alone is worth the extra dough. The San Swiss rifles are Ilaflon coated and it's a Teflon base coating that far surpasses anything we have here in the US that's factory out of the box. Some people like the triple serial numbers and are willing to pay extra for it. At the range? they will shoot the same no matter where they are built

  • Hope you see this and respond? I have a sig pro 2022 9mm I know how u did ur video 1st gen 2nd gen and 3rd gen. The second gen you said the barrels can be swapped to a different caliber and you should also switch the spring which makes sense different cal diff specs. Now my question is can the sig pro 2022 be swapped to a different caliber it seems people don't know and some say yes and others say no. I'm asking you and trust you because I know that you know what your talking about unlike 90% o

  • @bwilk1323 Yes. The slide on the 9mm has more matching, so the slide is lighter. I would recommend getting an aftermarket Wolf Spring to help adjust the recoil. I don't see a major problem with sticking with the factory spring. But going with an stiffer spring is not a bad idea either. Thanks!

  • I bought it used so the previous owner may have swapped parts

  • Frame says germany

  • The pin is solid. It is the 2022 .40 s&w

  • I'm still not completely sure which version I have. Mine locks exactly like the last one you showed minus the lanyard loop and magazine. I have .40 s&w chambering

  • @johnjr98 Ok, let me ask you this. Where was the frame made? What model is it, 2340 or 2022? There is a pin that goes through the slide. It's located in front of the rear sight on the side of the frame. Is it solid or hollow? Maybe we can nail it down,

  • i just bought a sig pro sp 2022 and the barrel has some kind of rainbow like finish to it is this bad?

  • @MrBharrington The finish will have no overall effect on the pistols performance. The barrel finish will wear over time and create what is commonly known as the “Smiley Face”. This is caused by the action that causes the barrel to tip when the slide slams back when you fire it. Once again, no performance issues what so ever. I would say your good.

  • Other than the serial numbers, is there a "dead giveaway" as to whether a Pro is all German or not?

A friend of mine is buying a 2022 on Wednesday and I want to be informed about these guns so I can help him in his decision.

Thanks a lot, and your videos are fantastic so I Subbed.

  • @hydrashok556 The fastest way is to check the frame. It will tell you if it was made in Germany or Exeter NH. Thanks for the Sub! Hope this helps..

  • @SINBAD396 Thanks a lot.

Last week when we were at Cabelas I did in fact see it says "Frame made in Germany" on the frame on the 2022 that was in the case, I wasn't sure if perhaps the slide was US made or something as I know very little about SIGs other than they are quality hardware.

  • @hydrashok556 If the pistol has matching serial numbers on the barrel, slide and frame, then it was all made in Germany. If it has "Made in Germany" on the frame and the slide say's "Made in Exeter" then there ya go. German frame, NH slide. If it says "Made in Exeter" on the frame, then its an all US made pistol.

  • Thanks! Glad the video helped.

  • i like this review its very informative, im also thinking to own a firearm soon. So thanks and keep putting out these great videos bless up

  • Thanks for replying, I was just surprised that the Sig I ordered from Buds had everything that the old 2340 had. I looked at the frame and slide and it's all Exeter. Maybe after I pick it up I can post a video of what it looks like.

  • Can you please review the new 2022 in 40 s&w. I just recently purchased one blindly mainly because of your reviews and forums. I don't pick it up until next week because I live in Ca. I did notice that it came with the small and medium grips and that it has an internal extractor. I cannot find a decent review of the Sig Pro in .40. Thanks- Mike

  • @tym2getbizeee Internal extractor you say? That version is a few years old and to be honest, something I would prefer over the newer external extractors. I'll see if I can post something, but I'm not sure how much more I can say or add that hasn't been said already. Great pistol overall and one if not my # 1 favorite pistols

  • Thanks for the review... <3 my Sig Pro

  • Another Fine Video. Factual and to the point. Well Done! About the mags! Conscientious soldiers would get new mag springs for the FN C1A1 due to the fact that they would get weak and cause cross and misfeeds due to the slow reaction time of the mag spring. We also used to keep our mags disassembled to allow the springs to "Ease" so they would last longer. Keep up the excellent work!

  • @richardhummell2497 Thanks you Sir!

  • Nice review, as always.

The best part is the machining differences between the slides of .40 and 9 mm.

    Thanks and keep going on.

  • Are you shit'en me?? What a friggin shame... Now why would they go and do foolish thing like that. Next thing you know they'll only include one magazine with each gun.

  • Now they are using CMI mags. Sigh.
