@jhayem12 The brake pedal on Toyota isn't being controlled by the computer. Toyota is making it so applying the brake pedal sends a signal to the computer so the computer knows to cut the throttle. It's a fail safe and not the computer controlling the brakes.

most automatic transmissions now have more electronics in them than a car stereo. some of the new toyotas wont let you switch to neutral when the car is moving, even if you can move the stick, it is just a stick, not a mechanism and it won't engage neutral (electronically). turn off the engine and "enjoy" losing power steering and power brakes. In the lexus it was button ignition with key sensor (infrared). MAYBE if you hold button for 3 seconds it turns off. he didn't know it was rental !

I just shut off the car and held the emergency brake release while pressing on the emerg. brake. cts built a toyota designed pedal to toyota specs. cts also builds pedals for ford/nissan/honda, none of which have problems. cts has only been building pedals for toyota less than a year. toyotas UA problem goes back to early 00' models. lexus' all have denso sourced pedals, they arent on any recalls even though there several cases of lexus killing people with UA including much covered CHP officer and his family. you keep hugging them toyota nuts-natural selection will run its course.

This has nothing to do with a Toyota vehicle but I was driving a 1963 Buick Special about 18 years ago and the accelerator stuck and was going about 30 miles an hour. I had no idea what to do. I put the car in park. I knew I just wanted to stop and I knew that putting it in park stopped the car instantly. Thank God I didn't ruin the transmission. I feel horrible for those families that lost loved ones.

BMW would never put a faulty pedal in their car because they actually test their vehicles before they unleash them on the public. No one forced Toyota to use CTS pedals. No one denied Toyota the right to test every car before it leaves the factory. Toyota chose not to practice diligent engineering.

My heart goes out to the victims ----- one question bothers the hell out of me --- Toyotas are generally slow as crap --they don't shoot to any speed --- and why dont the keys shut the engine off ---or the tranny into neutral---One hundred or so horsepower is meaningless at 60 or 70 Mph.The brakes are much more powerful than the engine.---- its called inertia -- relative to mass.

People have always pressed the accelerator thinking of the brake and panicked such that they could not ever figure it out. And when your next to a cliff side it becomes even more scary. The DMV handbook still does not suggest that YOU might mix up your left and right and thus must think "the other left".

Remember when Kristi Bradosky said in 1986 on 60 minutes that the Audi accelerated and killed her son? Do you remember George Russell Weller when he said he stepped on the brakes of his 92 Buick while killing 10 people on a sidewalk in 2003 - both of these people stated at the time the car accelerated and they tried to stop - both were completely wrong - science showed them to be at fault not the car - so please do your homework ! most automatic transmissions now have more electronics in them than a car stereo. some of the new toyotas wont let you switch to neutral when the car is moving, even if you can move the stick, it is just a stick, not a mechanism and it won't engage neutral (electronically). turn off the engine and "enjoy" losing power steering and power brakes. In the lexus it was button ignition with key sensor (infrared). MAYBE if you hold button for 3 seconds it turns off. he didn't know it was rental !

I just shut off the car and held the emergency brake release while pressing on the emerg. brake. I lost most steering with the engine off, but was traveling straight, besides, I'd take my chances instead of flying out of control at 100+mpg

cts built a toyota designed pedal to toyota specs. cts also builds pedals for ford/nissan/honda, none of which have problems. cts has only been building pedals for toyota less than a year. toyotas UA problem goes back to early 00' models. lexus' all have denso sourced pedals, they arent on any recalls even though there several cases of lexus killing people with UA including much covered CHP officer and his family. you keep hugging them toyota nuts-natural selection will run its course.

We're all so concerned about Toyota's that are made here in the US while at the same time this administration ignores over 14 millions unsafe Gen3 Seatbelts in Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep from 1993-2004 where people have been "ejected" from their vehicles. Chrysler even witnessed crash test dummies being ejected but still used the design. Instead they were given billions in bailout money and helped to be "given" away to FIAT, an Italian company.

I heard Phil Edmonston (author of Lemon-Aid Used Cars and Trucks 2009-2010) on the radio this morning... Toyota has known about the accelerator issue for over 6 years. And, done NOTHING about it. Think of the hundreds of people who have DIED!

This has nothing to do with a Toyota vehicle but I was driving a 1963 Buick Special about 18 years ago and the accelerator stuck and was going about 30 miles an hour. I had no idea what to do. I put the car in park. I knew I just wanted to stop and I knew that putting it in park stopped the car instantly. Thank God I didn't ruin the transmission. I feel horrible for those families that lost loved ones.

BMW would never put a faulty pedal in their car because they actually test their vehicles before they unleash them on the public. No one forced Toyota to use CTS pedals. No one denied Toyota the right to test every car before it leaves the factory. Toyota chose not to practice diligent engineering.
Furthermore, it is not proven that the pedal is the real problem. The Lexus ES350 that started this was built in Japan where they don't use these pedals.
