  • @LedKenji666 you need to change the preview mode at the top of which ever view port your using there should be a few different cymbals hover your mouse over them and select show lighting, or unlit if your moving brushes around you will have to rebuild to see the new position of the brush

  • @sporemisio easy top right there is a box that looks like a toaster wit ha light bulb, you want to build all yo umay also want to dissable light mass to do this go to the view tab, lightmass, then unclick use gloab illumination

    Ich starte am 27.12.10 ein Projekt wer Lust hat mit UDK zu arbeiten und schon einige Grundkenntnisse hat, oder wer Skripten usw kann, kann sich bei mir melden und mir eine Private Nachricht schicken oder es auf meinen Kanal posten wenn er in meiner Gruppe beitreten will. Wir suchen noch Leute die uns bei einigen Dingen helfen. Mehrere Informationen gibt es dann von mir.

  • hey if I spawned a character in kismet through a pathnode, how would I animate the character in matinee for in game cinematics or just be able to use him in matinee?

  • how do you get the platform to go back to the other side , askign cos i tired this kismat set up for opening a door , but i cant get it to close after i leave the trigger , i tried atttching the "reverse"to the empty box but no change door jsut opens but doesnt close back

  • @demonhorde664 I had the same problem, but fixed it by changing "max trigger count" to 0. And to everyone else, what ImperioAme said works.

  • Hey, i dont have the "add mover" option either, but i found that if you convert the platform to a static mesh, and then convert it to a mover, it works fine with the matinee (And remember to block all collision).

  • Dude I can't even fill the red box.. I click the CSG Add button or something like that and nothing happens. WTF!?

  • I had a problem with the 'add mover' thing but I was able to fix it by simply clicking and dragging the platform onto that....platform thingy.

    Downside is it wouldn't show up in the perspective mode so I had to use the other view ports to guide it around the stage.

  • I got a little problem, when I'm going to spawn the "Platform" when I right click on the ground and then go under "add actor" I can't find the "Add Mover" Plz Help. :)

  • I have the same problem... I can't chose the option "Add Mover" in Add Actor.

    Must i have a newer UDK version? I have tested several versions but May 2010 UDK Beta was the only one that worked as it should.

    Bye the way does the new Agust version work without any problem?

  • @jimmboy93 Edit: Downloaded the Agust version and "Add Mover" does not exist there ether.

    Is it like some kind of extra that i have to download to get it and you just forgot to tell us?

  • @MrTreeCup I found it, it moved to convert rather than add, convert static mesh to mover

  • @MrTreeCup in udk you need to add the object as w/e and convert it into a k actor, mover or ridgid body by right clicking on the object and then convert

  • what makes me really mad is i used all my skills from these tutorials and others to create the level guardian from halo 3 and only to find out that it can be imported to my ut3 editor, it took a long time because i wanted it to be as detailed as possible but i guess ill have to do it all over:(

I make the platform, change the texture, select my static mesh in the content viewer, right click on a surface, add my platform actor static mesh (Because I was planning to convert to mover as many of the below contents suggest when the option doesn't show up), and the platform doesn't show up! there is just a little X with the axis things around it. And yes, I followed the instructions step by step. Any suggestions?

  • Thanks for this mate, nice tutorials, but can you remind me how to setup collision for a more complex static mesh (converted from BSP)? ages ago I made a moving 'hover train' with an entrance, windows and a dashboard (100% BSP) have accurate collision , but I forgot how to do it. Its none of the collision options in the static mesh editor (they cant replicate the shape).

  • I've been following your tutorial step by step and controlling I'm doing the right thing. But when I open the right-click menu to -> Add Actor -> Add Mover, It's just not there! There isn't a Add Mover option, and I don't know why. I've also tried with other static meshes, but it doesn't appear then either. Any idea of what I can do?

  • @The1Interpreter : @The1Interpreter. I had the same problem, the solution is fairly easy. insert any static mesh as you normally would: right click Add actor - add StaticMesh , and then: select, right click - convert - convert StaticMeshActor to mover. this allows to work with matinee without getting warnings.

  • @The1Interpreter I found that once you have made it a static mesh and just the static mesh onto the scene. then you need to convert it to mover and it will turn purple. At least that is how I fixed mine.

  • I didn't actually watch this video, but I saw the swimable water one, thanks!!! I making a puzzle game and I may need that. The game also features around 50 or more levels. Each has some sort of task that you must complete.

  • i have a Problem where it keeps giving me warning about a satic mesh will not work it needs to be Dynamic. if i convert it to a Mover it does work but i dont stay on the platform. so i can either sit on it and it wont move.. or i can have it moving but it wont take me anywhere yayyy

  • if your mover has no collision, doubleklick on it -> collision-> collision type-> COLLIDE BlockAll

  • ugh so annoying... i follow everything perfectly and when i click on "add mover" it comes out invisible. i rebuild geometry and still invisible. i go into play the game and its not invisible. it also has no collision in the game despite me doing the collision thing like you said perfectly.

    if the player is in front of the moving platform it will be pushed?

    if the player is on top of a rotating platform(pitch or roll) it will slip?

  • save your costum content and install udk new.

  • I did this all right but when I step on the platform it like waits and then teleports suddenly to the end of the movement track.

  • I have been having the same issues. I have noticed though - if you jump onto the platform the movement works fine, but if you walk onto it the platform doesnt move, then eventually teleports into its finishing position after the matinee sequence ends...

    can anyone help?

  • @daxfrost You're having this problem because you're not actually stepping onto the trigger. You can also increase the size of the trigger to give it a wider radius, that way you will effect it from further away.

  • It's not working for me for some strange reason. When I step on the platroom, it doesn't move. But after a few seconds, it teleports me to the other side while I'm on the platroom. Do you think you can help me fix this?

  • You could create a trigger the player could touch or damage then jump on the platform rather quickly then jump on the platform to get it to go in reverse.
