I think some of these people have just gotten so used to driving so slow, that even when traffic is 'busy' they still drive at such a glacial pace. Everyone needs to step on it a bit more collectively, watch the traffic further ahead, allow people to merge smoothly and keep the pace moving..

have yall herd of Evening Rush Hour? yea this is traffic in the Afternoon it happens in Chicago everyday n im sure it happens in NY too. this is tpyical for Chicago, in da Chi ive been stuck in traffic at 11pm, So Chicago was Americas 2nd most congested city last year after LA, but day after day traffic keeps gettin worse in Chicago. Traffic used to back up at 5am n be at a stand still at 8am, now traffic starts backing up at 4:30am n all the freeways are at a standstill at 7:30!

Yeah, the 101 is narrow and congested all the time. There are many freeways in LA area but learning to time it out so you dont get stuck in traffic is very tedious. Within the vicinity of LA, OC, and SB counties there are at least 15 freeways you can take.

right but it is not simply how many people live in one city as it is not the only city in the area and the border does not necessrily mean that much. in both cases more people live outside the major city in the area (that is built land that is not separated by any rural or non-built land) and LA is approx. twice as big as chicago. that is what makes up the traffic. not whether chicgo proper is nearly as big as LA proper

Chicago city= 3.0 million

LA metro=12 m

Chicagoland= 10 m

the only difference is that LA is bigger in square miles! its more spead out meaning they have more space and were more crowded! so thats what makes the triffic patterns different! of course they have more cars! but we have more traffic jams!

nyc n chicago= smaller more urbanized crowded cities compared to LA! the reason is becuz there isnt enuff land to live on! nyc has only three small islands(manhattan,staten island,n western part of long island! n Chicago has only 224 sq miles so there isnt enuff land to live on the reason why chicago numbers arent as dense as nycs is becuz most of the east side of chicago is industrail meaning noone lives there most of chi's hoods is as crowded as nyc's.(chi's edgewater-35,000 per sq mi).

@sexyrican77trey..This is a nice video, but that is sooo true....Chicagoland including Indiana and Wisconsin residents ALL work in Chicago...It is very densely populated...I dont think the "Angelenos" realize how much space they have!!!! Chicago is by far smaller than LA yet it has basically the same amount of traffic..Even further, Chicago has a good mass transit system..I had a driving job in Chicago for 2yrs and I'm glad, I don't do it any longer...P.M. rush hour starts at 2:30pm Geez!!!!

If you look at the cta "L" system map......L train lines cover most of the city of Chicago, no need for a car when your in Chicago(people in the suburbs might find it harder to find mass transit) Chicagoland may not have ALOT of land area like LA,but Chicago makes up of it becuase of its high density,even the nearby suburbs are pretty dense,LA is more suburban but VERY spreadout,they have more land but since its suburban,everyone drives.

I drive from El Segundo (next to LAX) to Long Beach everyday. I normally take the 405 the whole way but sometimes I take the 105 to the 605. Also the 105 to the 110 to the 91 to the 605. Normally it takes me over an hour which is ridiculous.

yes traffic is bad in los angeles . yesterday i went from lax airport to rancho mirage out in the palm springs area it took me 5 hours from 3:30pm to 8:30pm

i was on the 105 , 605, 60, and the 10 freeways and they were all parking lost.
