kessel is damn good but holy shit the leafs paid a big price to get him. 2 first rounders and a second? shit thats expensive. on one hand yeah we need a top line forward on the team who can play right now, because without him we would have no scorers so its kind of a necessity so what can burke do? but we know he is worth at least 1 first rounder and probably a second round too. i would trade kessel for hall straight up in a second, but it will be the first rounder next year that will kill us.

The record has no effect on whether it was a good trade. The Leafs will pick it up and will not finish last in the NHL. Kessel is better then most first round picks, and I'm sure Burke will unload Kaberle or someone else sometime before the trade deadline and will pick up a few more draft picks to make up for what he lost to acquire Kessel.

So he many not be stellar in the bed or may not be able to throw a punch, but he's not paid to f..k or fight. I said this in another video but I'll say it again. Until the picks unravel and we see what they can do at the NHL, the winner of this deal remains to be seen. Looking at the last couple of years where there have been a strong crop of players, outside the top 10, only a few landed regular NHL jobs. The next couple drafts are WEAK after the top 10. But for now, the leafs just got a 21 year old sniper still years away from his prime. Its scary to think how good this kid will be as he develops.

alright thats true. but u c im just afraid its gonna happen all over again like the raycroft for tuku rask the leafs thought pogge was gonna be the better goalie( obviously he wasnt) and so they wanted a goalie to play that year so traded rask to boston for raycroft cause he was rookie of they year obviously stupid move but then again these r picks so its a difrent story lets just hope they made a smart choice

This year, whoever he gels with. If he doesn't fit well, I'm sure Burke has something up his sleeve to bring in a centre. Looking at his goals from last year, most of them were just snipes from the hash marks, anyone who says he'll suck without savard doesn't know what they're talking about.

like I said before, look at his goals, it's not like savard dangled the whole team and set up Kessel for a tap in. Right now, grabovski, stajan, or mitchell will be more than capable of passing him the puck. He's got a lethal shot, he doesn't need to be fed a gift. Not taking anything away from marc, he's a terrific player.

you're right, he didnt dangle the whole team but neither did kessel alot of the time, it was his shot. he knows how to get into those open areas and i just dont see any of those three finding him nearly as good as savard did. i think we'll see a dip in his goals and point totals this year but in the future if he develops well without that premium set up man he should be worth the money he's getting paid. at the moment overpaid, and i just think he's in it for the money and not to win

I agree he won't score 36 goals this year, especially coming off surgery, but I wouldn't be surprised if he notched 30, and right now the leafs don't have a playmaker live savard, but anyone saying he's an absolute failure and will rot in toronto without any linemates, are just jealous the leafs made a great move.

you think he'll score 6 less than last year. i highly doubt that! 25 at the most. he's missing the first 2 months of the season, not gonna have a proven set up guy, and is coming to a new city where the heat is on, new system, etc... im not saying he will rot but this is a big year for him to see if he can survive with a defensively minded team and maybe lead their offense and i dont know if he is that kind of guy. i dont know toronto's lines that well but he will be 1st or 2nd

It may be a stretch, but again, if he clicks right away, I wouldn't be surprised. Hagman scored 22 goals in 65 games last year, why can't Kessel score 30 in about the same number of games played?

i've watched this kid play the last three years in boston, i just dont see it happening, especially coming off shoulder surgery when his shot is the best thing he's got. who knows, he may surprise me, i wish him the best but there's still some harsh feelings

Toronto will be a playoff contention and alot of idiots think that Brian Burke is ruining the Rebuilding.... First off all he doesn't wanna wait to make the playoffs he wants to actually do it now not later... He went all in on this deal... only time will tell if he won the pot or lost it .... even if he lost it... we still got other rookies... you have to make the playoffs to know for sure what else you need to be a top contender.

some would say that the rebuild is off, i wouldn't.

next off season burke will be active not as active as this season but he will address the main problem areas to be a contender. if the leafs make the playoffs this year don't be suprised at they have a early exit it's all part of a good rebuilding process just think of pitsburgs and getting knocked out early in 2007 it made them all that much better
