  • this chicks got a southern accent, nice.

  • I have followed this girls recipes and having grown up in malaysia, it certainly rings a few bells. I never follow the whole thing but just take a few points here and there. Her food is about the only one in Youtube which is fun to watch and easy to make.

Kai is fine too but i have never understood him having to svirl the cooking oil on the pan 15-20 times. Personally I get tired of watching his videos.

  • @indian2003 Thank you very much for this comment. I really appreciate it :)

  • Delicious :O thanks for posting :D

  • @ScarletDevil91 Thank you :)

  • oh and by the way, i didn't notice you said "go ahead" so much until it was pointed out to me on the comments. i didn't think it was distracting and i think your accent is beautiful!

  • @jestrrr101 Thank you - I 've tried to stop with the "go ahead" in my most recent vids and in my regular conversation as well - I never really realized how much I repeat myself until I started posting these :)

  • that looks really good!!

  • wow ! beautiful and good at cooking holy !!!

  • Just made these and am eating them right now. I skipped the chicken and made breaded fried chicken instead though. Tastes really good together! :9

  • @sapphireXsecrets That is a great idea - thank you :)

  • All i can hear is 'Go ahead'..... lol

  • good

  • I don't have any of these ingredients -:(

  • @other100a To whomever cant easily find all the items: I hardly have an asian store near me... but i made replacements that u can probably find:

    vermicelli instead of rice noodles

some onion and mushrooms i sauted instead of vegetable fry mix

didnt have that chili sriracha sauce so used tabasco

It worked out perfectly, they were DELICIOUS!

  • Nice recipe.. but you say 'go ahead' soooooo often that I was distracted.

  • @rumpanuthabetha I know; I've been working on this for a while (as well as the accent) and have fixed a lot of these issues in my new recipes :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy You are open to constructive criticism.. and that is a super quality.. That will result in you being a great presenter of your excellent dishes. Good luck.

  • yummy! ^_^ you kinda sound like your from Georgia?

  • HI Lila! I was wondering if Singapore noodles are the same as Hokkien Noodles? If not, can you make some Hokkien noodles?

  • makes me SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSsoooooooo hungry! O!

  • I just made this dish with shirataki noodles. It turned out great.

  • are you suppose to cook the noodles on the stove...or is it already cook?

  • @monlikedrew These are rice stick noodles so all you need to do is just soak them in warm water :)

  • You sure have so much ' GO AHEAD' lol

  • badass kitchen!

  • Opps don't forget lots of fresh green veggie or mixed fresh veggie.

  • Mmmm..looks yummy.

But My way fo cooking singapore fried mee hoon is

    Mee hoon

    Prawns

    Meat

    Dice garlic

    Oyster sauce

    Light soya sauce

    simply yet delicious.

  • I love this!!! I can eat this all week! ;-)

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • @kukubananasss You have the most clever name. I am sitting here laughing. Thank you so much.

  • @speedstick77 lolol.. i stole it from Degrassi. but thank you! lol

  • Can I use angel hair noodles instead of rice noodles?

  • @Amidala459 Yep! i used angel hair pasta. I ate it three days in a row. Don't forget to cook & drain the pasta.

  • @speedstick77 isnt angel her pasta vermacilli pasta ?

  • @smurfarooney2003 Angel hair pasta is thinner than vermicelli. You can compare them the next time you shop. I LOVE any kind of pasta.

  • @speedstick77 i didnt think you could get thinner than vermacilli ? i will keep my eye out

  • @smurfarooney2003 You are dead right I was wrong. I checked at Walmart today. The strands of vermicelli are thinner than the angel hair. Good thing I didn't bet on that. My hat is off to you.

  • My favorite dish! Lila please marry me! :D

  • why not use fresh veggies instead of frozen?

  • @bear46no You can always use fresh in place of frozen - Here I used them to make this dish quick and easy :)

  • Comment removed

  • @meiwalsh Agree LOL.. the dish just uses rice noodles.. then it has a name "singapore noodle" =.=" i dont really understand.. in singapore, they're just called bee hoon (Bee= Rice. Hoon= Noodles.) anyway =.="

  • @meiwalsh There's no Hainan Chicken Rice in Hainan Island and no Delifrance in France either :-)

  • and joy .. and its ready .. and joy.

  • @joo6769 These noodles are NOT actually from Singapore. This is a Chinese dish that was likely invented in Hong Kong and has since become popular in America & Australia.

There is no good reason as to why it's called "Singapore noodles." It could also have been called "Indian noodles," "Malaysian noodles" or "Indonesian noodles." The inventor likely wanted to associate the noodles with a cuisine that uses curry more often than does Chinese. Singapore was probably a random & innacurate choice.

  • @ask230

There is a Singapore Fried Bee Hoon/Singapore Fried Rice Vermicelli (星洲炒米粉)that could be found in restaurants or sold by street vendors in both Singapore and Malaysia. There are variations but only in some of the ingredients used and no curry is used. However, it is different from that shown in this video. Only the noodles used are the same.

  • @joo6769 No kidding! I learned the recipe from a great NYC Chinese restaurant that was convinced it was a Chinese dish that was just given the name "Singapore" for no particular good reason. After all, the dish is apparently very popular in Hong Kong. These folks thought it was invented there. I didn't know this variation of vermicelli noodles was actually sold by vendors in Singapore and Malaysia. That's an interesting morsel -- learn something new every day!

  • @ask230

Reminds me of a fried noodle dish called Hong Kong Noodles/Mee Hong Kong (香港炒麵) found in Singapore and Malaysia that my Hong Kong friends swore that they had never seen it in Hong Kong. lol! Likewise, my friends from India swore that the famous Fish Head Curry dish in Singapore n Malaysia was never a native Indian dish. Some research speculated that it was actually a dish invented by a chinese street vendor in Singapore/Malaysia.

  • @joo6769 The guys who taught me the recipe were from Hong Kong as well. It's very possible that the dish is a cross-breed.

  • @joo6769 Same with Yangchow fried rice, a common take away dish in Hong Kong that has nothing to do with Yangchow City.

  • I like some of the things you do here, particularly the brown sugar. Your recipe is a little different than the way I make it. I use the Chinese "pass through" method to cook the shrimp and chicken. I "pass them through" 300 degree vegetable oil (healthier than butter or lard) for about 45 seconds. This "pass through" technique cooks them just enough so that when they're sauteed with the vegetables, they don't need to do any actual cooking, but rather accomplish flavor mixing at that stage.

  • where can i find these noodles?

  • @cocofoshoshoable The local grocery store by me has them in the ethnic section (near the soy sauce.) Also, most oriental grocery stores carry these as well :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy Find them in an Asian supermarket or in Whole Foods' Asian cooking section.

  • @cocofoshoshoable

you can find off any asian markets ;s

  • in Singapore we just called it Noodles :))

  • Nice to wacth ur Video...Ty..

  • I usually just buy some chinese BBQ pork instead of cooking the meat and just put it on the noodles. Sure chicken breast is healthier but BBQ pork with half and half taste good for me.

  • It looks fantastic, I can't wait to try it out. But what about bean sprouts, ginger and cabbage?

  • i need the recipe of singaporian rice please please give me :)

  • neither have i

  • you like goind ahead don't you ^^ well you said it at least 20 times =D

  • @cartouchator haha i noticed that as well

good video though, looks delicious. I'm gonna go ahead and make this tonight

  • @DudeTed I actually went ahead and made this the night I saw it P

  • wow.....it came out so tasty when I made ....the curry powder sauce just makes this dish fantastic.......thanks for the recipe..........

  • im guna make that tonight for dinner

  • that looks SOOOOOOO delishus

  • nice video. but it looks like a asian dish but adding curry powder.

  • i guess egg and bean sprouts would be optional with this dish? i was back in my hometown of toronto recently and had some fantastic sinagpore noodles at one of the many fantastic chinese restaurants there (wah too). forgot how much i liked them. btw.. are you from the south? i noticed a little southern twang in your voice. keep up the good work with the videos sweetheart.

  • About how many people does this recipe serve . Should I double the reciper for a family of 4 ?

  • For 4 I would just add another chkn breast, 5 more shirmp, and just about 1/3 more noodles. Keep the marinades the same, and then just double the sauce :)

  • this recipe looks fantastic, again I like the way you explain it step by step, great job!

  • I made this recipe the other day, but because I am a vegetarian I eliminated the chicken and shrimp, but boy did it ever taste delicious, I substituted tofu! YUMMIE!!!

  • Haha, i'm a veggie too and man did i get a surprise the first time i cooked this dish. I actually make them with fish sauce, soy and chili powder. Gives it more of a kick, especially when eating them cold the next morning :P

  • Is there a specific reason you used a frozen vegetable stir fry mix instead of fresh vegetables? I've never seen frozen vegetables used in Chinese dishes...especially Singapore Noodles (I'm Chinese).

  • I use frozen mixed vegies to make it quick and easy; especially for those of us who are cooking for large families :)

  • A 9 miniute video and the word GOAHEAD was used like 200 times, niice :P

  • what can you use instead of the wine for the chicken

  • For this recipe you can use rice vinegar instead - thanks for watching :)

  • Hello Lila great cooking, will try this sometime.

  • No you don't have to if you don't like them :)

  • Hi Lila, There are such noodles in Singapore but i think yours just different version. In Singapore, it is usually called Fried Bee Hoon, served all-day but most ppl like to have it for breakfast.

Anyway your Singapore noodles look delicious. :)

  • @ilmscc

    adopt me too!

  • very good , im going shopping tomorro :)

many thanks . keep up the good work

  • I get these delicious Singapore noodles at one of our favorite restaurants here in Sydney. Have tried to cook these before but never succeeded, so happy to have recipe now, I trust it will be great, will update you how it went when I cook it. Many thanks. Oh, by the way I like how you sped up the written instructions, and don't let critical people discourage you, there are many who truly appreciate your help.

  • This is a Chinese - American born dish that they serve in the restaurants here. I think it's interesting that it doesn't actually exist in Singapore :) Thank you for watching :)
