I have been looking for this DVD for so many years! It was a movie that was released shortly after. It was billed as the "Black & Blue Tour" Black Sabbath & Blue Oyster Cult. If anyone knows where I can find it please let me know.
And to think I had tickets to see this at the Long Island Colosseum and sold them cause I decided Black Sabbath w/out Ozzy was stupid. Ah the wisdom of High School.
anybody who says that the sabbath-fans hated dio when he joined is whining. just go to any dio-era video, all you see is them saying how great he was and how black sabbath didn't exist until dio joined and all that bs. to hear them say it, they welcomed him with open arms, no questions asked.
This show is 1980 Nassau Coliseum. I was there as a kid. Black n blue tour.
Priest and Maiden was 1982. Missed it, oh well, saw both a lot anyway since.
AC/DC For Those About To Rock, 1981, saw that Madison Square Garden w Full size bell and pyro.. 25 row, unreal.
Rush n Gamma dont know, first saw Rush in 82 w Rory Gallagher. Rush actually opened for him on their first cross country tour and returned the favor I bet.
This was the brief, weird period where RJD looked like he was getting fat. You can see it in his face and you can sort of hear it in his voice. I know he's using sort of gutteral inflection on some of the vocals, but his voice sounds fat. Still the greatest ever. \m/
ron was making music for a long time,just check out early ron dio on you tube and you can hear his music from the very early 60's this man from new hampshire was a founder of rock and heavey metal. missed very much , by us old folk's
I caught Sabbath two years earlier in 1978,when unfortunately they were passing the torch...But,then "Heaven And Hell" came out and "Blizzard Of Ozz".And,then the planets realigned \m/
@DavidKinner Look at Ozzy now, making reality-shows and commercials with Justin Bieber for the superbowl. He crucified his career. This guy gives metal a bad name. He was an icon, but I don't like his duck voice
@praetorianus72 Man how can u diss Ozzy? Ffs mate u need ur head looking at!! So what if he does an ad or two ? Big fuckin deal the man is a legend ( who is lucky to be here today after that horrific crash ) so dude if u dont like Ozzy just fuck right off and die slowly u cunt ok? Ozzy Rules!!!
@praetorianus72 Ozzy was a God. He put this band on the map. He was Sabbath! Old Black Sabbath was the shit. Not to say this wasnt Kick ass, but to dicount the Ozz is wrong.
Yeah man. I heard the studio version today on Sirius's "The Bonyard". It was awesome. Let me specific...Dio's voice was just "evil nasty awesome". Just awesome.
@zalen292 ... How Dare You!!!! i bet u are an ozzy cock sucking fag! Ozzy just wish he can be Dio in his worst day! i have this concert in VHS back in 1980 and its a fucking JEWEL!! You r just judging from this particular video, wich i my self find facinating how Mr. Dio slams the microphone on the floor, gets another one and keeps doing what his been known all his life for doing.... Rocking the shit out of every single self respecting Head banger! God bless the KING!
@MetalkingDio lol, bro I like both singers, equally, I'm just saying, this particular concert his voice did not sound to great. Ive seen him do 100 times better.
@zalen292 .. yeah ok wat ever! i have seen Dio live perhaps many more times than you have and never has he sound bad in any of his concert NEVER! Take my word for it! i think u need to go see an ear doctor or specialist LMAO!!!
Hmmmn - just reading the stats for this album and I'm impressed. They seemed to get nailed in the press at the time but it did sell better than never say die. Another reason not to believe everything you read in a metal magazine in the 80's! I was under the impression that they broke up after mob rules because of sales....but I guess I'm wrong....
As much as I love Dio and have nothing but love for him I think ALLOT of people forget how hard this gig was for him.....he got nothing but shit from fans and critics....people showing Ozzy's peace sign on purpose....at the time he was no savior as far as the mags and most fans were concerned. Another reason to repect the guy....
@gsoltis29 .. You are absolutly right, it was very dificult for him but i think that was only the first few month on the road. Heaven and Hell the album became an instant sucsess, Ronnie's determination, his incredible voice and charisma was captivating new 80's era metal fans and ozzy fans. i remenber in the 80" 81 and 82 it was all about Dio/sabbath. and forever it remained that way sabbath was not only an ozzy thing but a Ronnie james dio thing as well thank god! R.i.P ronnie!!!
@MetalkingDio I actually thought I read somewhere that the album sales for Heaven and Hell were very dissapointing....I could be a bad memory though.....be glad if someone said otherwise...
@gsoltis29 .. Its defenetly your memory. It was an instant sucsess, it was praice highly by the press, the media and the fan. it was consired the best black sabbath album since sabbath bloody sabbath, who ever doesnt know this most eigther be joking, crazy or simply doesnt know 3 shits about sabbath and metal music. google it my friend, thats all you have to do and you will find out. it went platinum on the first week in america and everywhere else. its consired by esperts to be the finest album
@MetalkingDio So I don't know shit huh? "Mob Rules was released in October 1981, to be well received by fans, but less so by the critics. Rolling Stone reviewer J. D. Considine gave the album one star, claiming "Mob Rules finds the band as dull-witted and flatulent as ever".[80] Like most of the band's earlier work, time helped to improve the opinions of the music press, a decade after its release, Allmusic's Eduardo Rivadavia called Mob Rules "a magnificent record".
@gsoltis29 And obviously I know this is Mob Rules - but I knew I wasn't cracking up either....they gave them shit and this is from there own wiki page.....
Ronnie, stunningly amazing, as usual. fairly early in the career here. wow. even WITH this somewhat, untreated board mix of sorts ( where's the 'wetness and bit of verb, he deserves? jeez.....) but....still Killin' it. like when he throws the broken mic at the beginning, doesn't phase him. just grabs the next one available, and proceeds to...."let every one know, who's Friggin' boss here". wow. R.i>P Ronnie
Interesting that Geezer appears to be playing with a pick in this version, whereas in the awesome 2007 Radio City video of this song he's playing with his fingers.
Damn, that unmatched epic feeling created from the combination of Dio's vocals and Iommi's riffs. I have always thought that this song is in a way the father of Power Metal.

I saw the "Black & Blue" Tour in Rochester, NY,
supporting this album, with Blue Oyster Cult, (god am i old) ............
Same year (i think) we also saw at the same venue:
Judas Priest w/ Iron Maiden;
AC/DC (For Those About To Rock Tour);
AND, (ready for it?), Rush with Gamma (Ronnie Montrose)...........
btw, 49 yrs old & going to Social Distortion next week in Tempe AZ

why has there been no tribute to ron on any of those (talent show's?)
the answer is those judge's are afraid of real talent, 50 year's of it from mr. dio.
none of these (karioke) ballot singing no talent's on those show's could ever come close to ron.
we the rocker's miss you very much,
