Youngsters, remember that if we are lucky we all get to age -- some just better than others. Robert Plant has always been a rock God -- still is, just an older version. To the young critics, let's see what you look like in your 60's -- and if you'll still be rockin' it.
If ANY band(Robet or Jimmy included)had attempted to try and sound similar to Zeppelin in ANY way, shape or form it would have fell short,I purposefuly tried to NOT sound like anything Plant did. Even at almost 70yrs old he still brings Zeppelin in Full Flight,he knows thats what we wanted to hear(not some watered down folk music or rock songs that were beyond most of our taste Then Page returned with his"old skool" type of rock and he has'nt looked back since. Some things are just eternal.
I am loving the versatility of Robert Plant and the combination of the talent of Alison Kraus. I applaud them both. As far as Robert Plant and his days of Zepplin, that was just totally awesome and being a lifelong Zep fan, I respect whatever choices he makes in his muscial career. He has performed with many artists. He happens to blend very well with this one in particular. peace.. 0:)
@rmeofiowa Cool! Live and learn. I'm a Zep fan for 40 years. Nothin wrong with you then for not being into it... your view has just expanded. It's what we should all seek!
@stevebeagle wtf has her looks got to do with her talent as an artist?? (damn thats sexist) Besides you don't know what you're talking about..she was born and raised in my neck of the woods and has been performing for a long time..I watched her years ago just sitting on the edge of the stage and singing and playing fiddle all by herself..she was beautiful then too..looked the same as today but now she wears more makeup..so what..damn a sexist ass
@claptongroupie go hump somebody else' s leg. your full of shit or blind as a bat ,& too fuckin lazy to do a bit of research . she's had major work done. and as far as your delicate sensibilities being hurt by my bit about bangable & talented,, those are terms of endearment as far as i'm concerned ..

@stevebeagle well judging by your response I"d say you are a very immature teenager..and while I have YOUR ATTENTION,,if you think Clapton has sucked since Derek(learn to spell) and Dominoes, why is your one whole favorite is Clapton and JJ Cale at crossroads?? lol funny
@claptongroupie ahh so you're a member of the spelling police, fascinating, i'm probably older than you . & i'm a Cale fan,, who pretty much gave Clapton a portion of the shit he, (Clapton) is noted for.
Anything with audio quality as poor as this shouldn't be posted on YouTube or anywhere else. The only thing that saves it from the shitter is the fact that Alison has some fine looking legs.
Don't get me wrong, Plant does have some Golden Pipes and he is my all time favorite vocalist. But it was brightest to quit after The Zeppelin had deflated.
people keep saying " i'm glad robert plants moving on instead of reuniting with zeppelin" i'm just wondering then why does he keep playing zeppelin songs with her not writing new songs of their own
@irshman98 Same here. He plays alot of Zeppelin songs, why not play with Jimmy, John, and Jason? But on his defense, all the songs are arranged to suit his vocals, something jimmy wont be willing to do, and the fact that BONZO isnt on that drum stool. Maybe someday...before its too late :'(
@salynredoran Hey, Led Zeppelin is my favourite band and Robert Plant is one of my favourite artists but this is just an awful mix...no need for any more name calling because you'll lose :).
Glasshouse- right on brother! just the way he's standing at the beginning of this video proves that he's still got it. a living legend, without a doubt
really? I think he's still got a little zeppelin magic in him. But then again i haven't seen him live with Krauss. Though i did enjoy his work with the strange sensation!

I disliked Rising Sands intensely when I first heard it. I thought Robert Plant had gone slushy in his old age and I hated the idea of him now singing ballads, but they are all very good tracks on Rising Sands and worth a second listen.
I wouldn't call it a sell out, he's looking forward to his future in the music business knowing that he's getting too old to rock and rock but too young to die.
stupidest fucking comment in the history of youtube.Selling out WOULD BE touring again as Zeppelin and raking in the big bucks instead of doing something his heart wants to do regardless of it's popularity.

Him touring with Zeppelin would not make him a sell out, he's a not a fucking idiot like Gene Simmons, he has a young fan base and I can't think of ONE person especially frm the ages of 16to 40 who wouldnt want to see Zeppelin tour together, because they never had the chance to.
The original Zeppelin is almost 30 years gone... this talk of a reunion or doing a tour with or without Plant and calling it Led Zeppelin for whatever reason is ludicrous, unless it's all about money? Then granted, they'll go ahead and make millions...but really...it can never be Led Zeppelin again...they had their time and that time has passed. Im grateful for the band and it's recordings as it was years ago. I hope Plant and Page leave it that way for the fans, for history, and for the ages.
People, without Robert there is no Led Zeppelin. They were considering a wanker from modern times who would only want to sing with Led Zeppelin because of the name. I for one am glad they didn't go with wankfest from Alter Bridge. Page knows without Robert, the fans will ultimately be disappointed. NOW, with that said: he could very well get someone else and tour, make new music, but it should be with either Grohl or Bonham on drums, Jones, and a GOOD high range singer.
Maybe that woman is just some sort of sucubus? Plant is bewitched and she may eat him. Page, Jones and Plant really need not waste time. Do the World Tour first then masterbate to your own tunes i public.
His voice is still amazing!! anyone can play guitar!! Robert's voice is what makes it exciting. not this, Some people like his late 80 early 90's voice better. Even in 2006 with strange sensation, with that music, that voice is what makes amazing. Look at the zep reunion tour he had it. It may be dif. but it keeps it relevant an new.
plant's not doing it for the money jcfink13!! That's page! He has all zep rights and plant would do that zep tour if it were about money. It's about something differen't . I've seen Plant during Manic Nirvana tour. Amazing!! Loved his post Zep voice! Fate of Nations tour, Which he included zep tunes. Then Page and Plant, 95 and 98. then Plant with Strange Sensation. Something differnen't
@37zeus37 No, I replied to a comment you made approximately a year ago about Alison Krauss not being enthusiastic about this song because of the lyrics that Plant sings.
I probably shouldn't have replied to a comment that was posted so long ago.
Yeah, ARI, you tell him man. I mean, you know, If you like strawberries, like, you just have to love cherry pie.
Your so #$%^^& up in the head. what kind of argument was that! Robert plant was not Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin was Led Zeppelin. Also the statement about the voice is on que, just ask Bob Dylan. I'me 51 and was around at the time and loved all the above. Robert needs to make a buck, like anybody else.
shit i gotta agree with roe1203 he is abandoning what made him famous for the simple reason being : he doesnt wanna live in the shadow of jimmy cos jimmy can still get away with it voices dont last so long,
give me the choice between this or led zep even if they cant still pull it off like they used to its a fucking easy choice
Plant wanted out of the Page control zone for along time and punted on the Page/Plant tour in mid 1990s because he could tell Page wanted to redo Zepplin and Plant was bored with it all. His voice was always going to go before others of that era because of his range and timbre, so singing everything down an octave like they did at O2 re-union was like Plant being in a bad tribute band. He told his manager Page and JP Jones were strangers to him anyway. Bravo to Plant choosing creativity.
Rob't has continued to be creative, and worked with many talented musicians over the decades (I've been there the whole ride). poor Jimmy can't find a pot to piss in...that should tell you something.
There you go with the Yoko analogy. Yoko had no musical talent. Alison is a musical peer. Listen to her work and listen to what RP actually says about her.
Robert Plant doesn't owe you or anyone else a damn thing!! And, I assure you, I've been a Zep fan a lot longer than you. And I totally respect him for not wanting to become a caricature of his former self just to please those who were lucky enough to be born when Zep ruled the world. Perhaps if today's bands didn't totally suck, Zeppelin wouldn't be missed as much as they are. Plant has moved on - so should you.
@LivingIn1969 Though Jimmy Page is rock God in his own right, the simple fact is that he's lost without Robert. Robert was both his foil on stage and his inspiration. Regardless of how good a singer Jimmy might find, he will never have the same chemistry that he had with Robert, and he knows that.
For fans like you who are so intolerant and ignorant towards other kinds of music than rock, and can never appreciate his effort, why should he come back and sing for you?
Before you claim yourself a Zep fan, learn to show some respect.
Robert Plant is a GOD! He is 60, he has accomplished more than any of us here, he dosn't have to go on tour. Why should he kill what he made legend? Most of the people who want to see them are the generation that never did, including myself, but i rather watch The Song Remains The Same than him trying to push his vocals to match his vocals from his youth.
Amen to that. After watching many Led Zep and Robert Plant videos and all the bitching and moaning from people berating what Plant is doing...LeathanL has defined it accurately. The man is 60!! You either want to relive your youth again or your so young you want to see them because you missed out the first time around. He has been there and done that already.
To do the O2 show he had to rest his voice and not talk for a day or so for that ONE SHOW so he could pull those songs off.
Continued....and you want him to go on tour?? I don't think he could pull it off and the quality wouldn't be there and he probably knows that to be the case. Then all of you who are mad at him now for not indulging your Led Zep reunion fantasy would then turn on him again if his voice isn't up to par.
Relax you Zepsters. I love Zeppelin, but Robert Plant always had a folksy side to his art - and in this sense such performances are perfectly logical. And sometimes even quite enjoyable.
THAT WOMAN? Alison Krauss has won 26 Grammy Awards. That is the most any woman has ever received and 3rd overall. Considering her age, and the fact that she and Plant have another album releasing soon, I'm betting she will be hold the record of most Grammys ever.
Never before have I witnessed a legend destroy his own classic in such monumental proportions. I love Led Zeppelin, and I dig Plant's new album with Krauss... However, this is just -- horrendous! Utter disrespect shown to Jimmy Page by performing this song without him. I mean, Page NEVER performed "Stairway" with a guest vocalist, out of simple loyalty. Terrible rendition of a wonderful song... and terrible video/sound quality. I can honestly say this was a waste of time.
He may not have performed Stairway, but Jimmy Page has performed other Led Zep songs with other vocalists, i.e., Chris Robinson and David Cloverdale. Was he being disloyal to Plant? This may not be the best rendition of the song, but I would think if Plant is a co-writer of the song, he can perform any way he wants and with whomever he chooses, just as Page has done.
If you think Page is beyond reproach, I would call Puff Daddy's "Come With Me" to your attention. He not only allowed Kashmir to be sampled, but actually played on that pile of shit.
Sad but true, Page sold out for P Diddy crap, played like crap live on SNL for it, and made it for the godawful 1998 craptastic Godzilla bomb. And let's not forget Coverdale/Page and Page's interviews explaining why David Coverversion was so much more exciting to work with than Plant was.
As you say, Page + P. Diddy/Puff Daddy/who the fuck cares + selling out Kashmir riff = "fuckin' awful".
Krauss is an incredible talent, but she has a very sleepy persona, so it was good for her to get together with Plant, but everything they did is still a little "low-energy".
PappyCaligula ..........Phuck you to slapnut....If Plant wants to try another singing venture that is fine. Simply sing your new material. Don't do some lame spinoff of a Zeppelin song. Watching Allison in some of the videos, I think she is thinking the same thing.
Hey man im sure i love led zeppelin as much as you do but this is good music as well people actually appriciate this. I'm happy that they won the most grammy awards rather than some meaningless musical act that always come up every year. I'm sure their is a logical reason why the reuninon tour hasn't happened
There is a good, logical reason the Led Zeppelin isn't going down again, and that's because Bonham went down for good (RIP). Led Zeppelin was the sum of all parts. Bonham's death sealed the envelope on all their material, and that envelope is filled with the most excellent, transcendant, mystifying sounds ever heard by the naked ear. God bless Zeppelin, but it'll never happen again, sadly. Plant does his thing, and I have no problem with it, as long as he's not BUTCHERING classics like this!
waht about the one off concert..? you still got bonzo's blood on the drum kit... I loved what I heard from that concert... better then turning classic zep songs into music old people die to
Let us not forget that these pepole are artists and what they do is up to them.If there is something that you would have them do differently then you could go out and do it yourself...maybe you could go back and do whatever you were doing 30 years ago..or move into the future
How sad !! Robert really thinks this is good !! What an idiot, The last smart thing he did was step on a stage with Page !! Hey Robert I hope you still have his number !
Led Zep the best band ever. I hope they don't reunite. Leave it be. Plant/Krauss is awesome, keep moving forward mr. Plant, no need to go backwards. Yes, his voice is different than it was 30 years ago, but in some ways it's much better. let it be people.
@Thepennies Exactly! I love Zeppelin and always will but his new stuff is amazing! I saw him with the band of joy in Albuquerque and it was beautiful.
@Thepennies Plant should have refused his throat surgeries(polyps) like Freddie Mercury refused and kept his power and range. When you have these surgeries its like training a brand new voice. No power or range built up from b4 the knife.
i think Alison Krauss and Robert Plant should do a record where they rearrange each other's famous songs and rerecord them. I think this version of hey hey, what can i do sounds great
what zeppelin needs that will nevert be is john bonham .reason being there is no led zepplen.if this were the case the beatle are touring all over the place.just diff names
i have so many concert's over the years of zeppling.and by listening to this for those of you that dont really care of what plant sonds like in concert this s---t is hopeless
I like him a lot too, but be honest. Go listen to a good quality recording of the reunion concert. His vocals are no where near the perfect level that they used to be. He's old, plain and simple. zeppelin had to play nearly all of their songs in lower tones last year so that plant wouldn't sound thrashed. and the ones they kept in high tone, you can hear the strain he put himself through to hit the notes.
Boy do I agree with you. Saw them is San Diego. BCW was stunning. Alison just shredded on Evermore. Definitely some of RP's best work (even at 60). I haven't seen any other versions of this though...
For real. If you're going to sing Zeppelin, do it with the guys that brought you to the dance. Jesus, this is a sacrilege. I have nothing against REAL country and folk music, but don't mix the two. Just because you can . . . doesn't make it right.
could you possibly be a little less of a jerk on other rpak videos?? i'm sort of tired of seeing these. i realize it might take some work considering it's a bit too ahead of your level..
A girl doesn't write the kind of stuff you wrote in my comments. You are Amore101 the monkey faced freak boy and everyone knows. There is a network of people that know about you. I guess karma is bitch slapping you in the face gay boy.
Why shouldn't Plant take on new stuff like this? I'll tell you what, I'd rather see him go into a whole different style of music like this than to go on a death-warmed-over tour like the Stones.
His voice has lost the high range that made him famous, but he still has great feel for delivering a song & he has a great harmony with Alison Krauss. I like it & it doesn't detract from Zep's body of work at all.
I agree to. This just shows you that he can go into a whole new style of music and still kick ass and tell everybody that doesn't like to screw off. Granted, he can't squeel and prance around like he used to, but come on. It's Robert fricken Plant
the way i look at this with plant is that alot of other artists, have produced crappier stuff later in there career. I also feel robert plant can do whatever he wants and it will be good so I am kida biased
Yes, Robert could make singing the phone book sound cool. Saw him twice with The Strange Sensation and loved the way he retooled zep songs to an almost funkrock vibe.
I saw him once on The Mighty Rearranger tour (fantastic cd). The Raising Sand Tour, not my thing... I was just looking for some of that Plant magic and he appeared to really be enjoying what he was doing so that was good!
is that van morrison on guitar, or am i bugging..

Listen to her work and listen to what RP actually says about her.

if you were as big of a zeppelin fan as you say, you would appreciate the work of plant no matter the venue. respect the talent, not the title
AriZeppelin7 2 years ago
Robert Plant doesn't owe you or anyone else a damn thing!! And, I assure you, I've been a Zep fan a lot longer than you. And I totally respect him for not wanting to become a caricature of his former self just to please those who were lucky enough to be born when Zep ruled the world. Perhaps if today's bands didn't totally suck, Zeppelin wouldn't be missed as much as they are. Plant has moved on - so should you.
rodentcafeteria 2 years ago 22

@rodentcafeteria nicely put and i agree but look at jimmy... same old rock lobster that he always was...even today
LivingIn1969 9 months ago

Most of the people who want to see them are the generation that never did, including myself, but i rather watch The Song Remains The Same than him trying to push his vocals to match his vocals from his youth.
venom900 2 years ago
thank GOD Plant is still around too give everyone a taste of the real music days...
FATMEXICANSUPPORT 2 years ago 2
I hope when I'm in my sixties I don't have millions of fans demanding that I get on stage and pretend that I'm 19.
LeathanL 2 years ago 5
Amen to that. After watching many Led Zep and Robert Plant videos and all the bitching and moaning from people berating what Plant is doing...LeathanL has defined it accurately. The man is 60!! You either want to relive your youth again or your so young you want to see them because you missed out the first time around. He has been there and done that already.
To do the O2 show he had to rest his voice and not talk for a day or so for that ONE SHOW so he could pull those songs off.
blueberrycobbler 2 years ago
Continued....and you want him to go on tour?? I don't think he could pull it off and the quality wouldn't be there and he probably knows that to be the case. Then all of you who are mad at him now for not indulging your Led Zep reunion fantasy would then turn on him again if his voice isn't up to par.

Relax you Zepsters. I love Zeppelin, but Robert Plant always had a folksy side to his art - and in this sense such performances are perfectly logical. And sometimes even quite enjoyable.

Fuck this. Why disgrace the song by singing it with that woman?
ashleyhestand 2 years ago

I can honestly say this was a waste of time.
mussman717word 2 years ago
He may not have performed Stairway, but Jimmy Page has performed other Led Zep songs with other vocalists, i.e., Chris Robinson and David Cloverdale. Was he being disloyal to Plant? This may not be the best rendition of the song, but I would think if Plant is a co-writer of the song, he can perform any way he wants and with whomever he chooses, just as Page has done.
rodentcafeteria 2 years ago 2
If you think Page is beyond reproach, I would call Puff Daddy's "Come With Me" to your attention. He not only allowed Kashmir to be sampled, but actually played on that pile of shit.
snidelywhiplash 2 years ago 2
how do you mean... played on it?
panterahead667 2 years ago
Played. As in guitar. He even appeared w/ Puff Daddy on SNL. It was fuckin' awful.
snidelywhiplash 2 years ago
Sad but true, Page sold out for P Diddy crap, played like crap live on SNL for it, and made it for the godawful 1998 craptastic Godzilla bomb. And let's not forget Coverdale/Page and Page's interviews explaining why David Coverversion was so much more exciting to work with than Plant was.
As you say, Page + P. Diddy/Puff Daddy/who the fuck cares + selling out Kashmir riff = "fuckin' awful".
AmaterasuHeika 2 years ago
Krauss is an incredible talent, but she has a very sleepy persona, so it was good for her to get together with Plant, but everything they did is still a little "low-energy".

Hey man im sure i love led zeppelin as much as you do but this is good music as well people actually appriciate this. I'm happy that they won the most grammy awards rather than some meaningless musical act that always come up every year. I'm sure their is a logical reason why the reuninon tour hasn't happened
deftonesfanatf 3 years ago 2
There is a good, logical reason the Led Zeppelin isn't going down again, and that's because Bonham went down for good (RIP). Led Zeppelin was the sum of all parts. Bonham's death sealed the envelope on all their material, and that envelope is filled with the most excellent, transcendant, mystifying sounds ever heard by the naked ear. God bless Zeppelin, but it'll never happen again, sadly. Plant does his thing, and I have no problem with it, as long as he's not BUTCHERING classics like this!
mussman717word 2 years ago
waht about the one off concert..? you still got bonzo's blood on the drum kit... I loved what I heard from that concert... better then turning classic zep songs into music old people die to

I saw him with the band of joy in Albuquerque and it was beautiful.
arcangel1 1 year ago
@Thepennies Plant should have refused his throat surgeries(polyps) like Freddie Mercury refused and kept his power and range. When you have these surgeries its like training a brand new voice. No power or range built up from b4 the knife.

Agreed, i hate when folks say Plant is old. He is wine baby. It just gets better. His vocals are as pristine as Houses of the Holy.
082076 3 years ago
I like him a lot too, but be honest. Go listen to a good quality recording of the reunion concert. His vocals are no where near the perfect level that they used to be. He's old, plain and simple. zeppelin had to play nearly all of their songs in lower tones last year so that plant wouldn't sound thrashed. and the ones they kept in high tone, you can hear the strain he put himself through to hit the notes.
SWarneke 3 years ago
Boy do I agree with you. Saw them is San Diego. BCW was stunning. Alison just shredded on Evermore. Definitely some of RP's best work (even at 60). I haven't seen any other versions of this though...

For real. If you're going to sing Zeppelin, do it with the guys that brought you to the dance. Jesus, this is a sacrilege. I have nothing against REAL country and folk music, but don't mix the two. Just because you can . . . doesn't make it right.

I like it & it doesn't detract from Zep's body of work at all.
jobu88 3 years ago 9

I agree to. This just shows you that he can go into a whole new style of music and still kick ass and tell everybody that doesn't like to screw off. Granted, he can't squeel and prance around like he used to, but come on. It's Robert fricken Plant
Arod1292 3 years ago
