Yo no disrespect... But that is undeniably slow getting to 60mph. Seriously put some plustar pulse plugs a Cold Air intake and an Axel-back exhaust or a Cat-back if you can afford it. Oh and if it's out there too buy a header for the Car you will gain some serious fuel mileage and power. Also you pocket will thank you for less spent at the pump and you will fine your car more fun to drive.

Yes, the Scion is not a fast car, but it is a very fuel efficient sporty and reliable car that will beat almost any american car in a race. Not bad at all from $15,000 american.

I would still put my money on the chevy over this car! As for it beating a mustang? The V6 Mustang gets 300HP and would be going well over 100MPH by the time this thing hits 60 and that sad thing is that I'm not exaggerating at all!

Very nice car. Actually pretty quick for an economy car. Its about as fast as a Civic Si, which isnt too bad. Or, about as fast as a 1990s Mustang GT. The thing is, one can get over 40 mpgs on the highway, and 30 mpgs in town. Thats impressive! Plus, not only is it pretty fast, but you have Toyota reliability because its the new model Corolla drivetrain...engine and transmission. Its actually faster than a Corolla because its lighter. The Corolla XRS is faster than the Scion Xd. Nice cars though

The gauge setup is clever stuff, but I still don't like it. The only Scion I'd consider buying is either the TC or the XD because they have the gauges behind the steering wheel. I hate that center-of-the-dash crap.

no, that's a lame driver. he/she doesn't know how to do a drag launch. put the tach needle at around 3500-4000 rpm's, side-step the clutch, and grab gears. the xd peg-legs pretty bad, so very high launching rpm's will actually SLOW you down. really really needs LSD. happy motoring... :-)

Lame driver though I might be, this was an automatic xD, not a manual. :) This run is a simple stomp on the pedal, much like any normal driver would do when faced with a difficult merge onto the highway.

no disrespect intended. i just meant that peeple shouldn't judge the acceleration abilities on a non-standard acceleration run. in a rolling start, cars with considerably more hp would look much slower than if they did a proper acceleration run.

come on it wasnt THAT slow. My expedition does 0-60 in about 9.5 seconds and even that doesnt seem very slow. Its not like an 83' Ford Ranger Diesel with that 60hp Perkins Diesel.. 0-60 in.... like 1 minute. Not even exaggerating.
