Man the drop from 1st to 2nd looks like something from the late 90's. The manual w/ 3.31would do a lot better in this car. Still getting a lot of car for the money though.
@ms3ben the manuals are like finding a needle in a haystack. i looked for over three months trying to find one that i could afford, and i still couldnt.
@ello621 , Id blame the transmission more so than anything else. Ford's new 3.7L V6 is great, but their 6-speed auto transmission is just awful. It's unresponsive, has gears that are spaced too far apart from eachother, and it knocks the engine way out of its power band with every upshift. The 6-speed manual with the 3.31 axle ratio is far better suited to this motor, and the 3.73 axle ratio manual is even better but im not sure if its available on the V6 Mustang.
@4MATICbenz I agree, look at older Mustang acceleration with the 5R55s 5 speed auto. The first 3 gears being so close gave even the 210hp V6 fairly respectable acceleration.
@4MATICbenz its not the trans its the tuning they have on them. Especially on the v6 cars. The autos (which i find wrong in a mustang anyways but hell theres a huge market for them) respond really well to a performance tune. There are rumors of a paddle shift making its way through the ford autos which will be a little better and i would wager quite acceptable with performance calibration. The units as they sit should be capable of shifting in something like 250ms.
@4MATICbenz ford favored the lower rpm shifting for the auto in order to allow for the 31 mpg it promises. the mustang is still great whether you have the auto or manual. if you know how to drive the auto, you can still get a lot of power from it.

The Mustang V6s would be MUCH faster if they put the Eco-boost engine from the Taurus in it!

Why is it that every video of the 2011 V6 Stang is an auto automatic?
Where are the manuals?

CAI and a tune will fix your acceleration problem. ;)

The auto tranny and fact that it's a convertible really weigh this thing down. A manual base coupe is so much quicker

@4MATICbenz Try a tune for your auto yet? you can set your own shift points if you want to hold gears longer.

@4MATICbenz 3:31 is the fastest axle ratio on the v6 mustang. (:

@ello621 the convertible doesnt weigh it down much. in GT form the convertible only weighs 75lbs more than the coupe i've heard.

with a little bit of practice you can get it down!
