  • Just got the rereleased blu-ray which is stunning. Original aspect ratio and transferred from (I believe) 55mm film. This movie never gets old. It's a crying shame that even people my own age (30) think that The Hangover is true comedy.

  • The original director's cut of the film was over 5 hours!!! The film was then cut to 3-1/2 hours long for its preview, then cut to 3-1/4 hours for its premiere, cut to 2-3/4 hours for its limited release, and finally cut to 2-1/2 hours for its general release.

  • @Ramubay The lasser disc has an extra hour of documentary material, with interviews by many of the co-stars. I recently saw this classic for a matinee revival viewing at a huge movie theatre with 90% of the seats vacant. Afterwards the audience, consisting mostly of senior citizens, was visibly delighted at what they just saw. One old lady insisted it was her first time to see this comedy....I'm in my 40s, and I've seen THIS MOVIE at least 8 times and in 3 languages. A BIG winner in my book!

  • @Chelsea4President 90% vacant? That's sad, if for no other reason the history. Lesser known is WHO'S MINDING THE MINT? from the same period & style, & also featuring Milton Berle, Dorothy Provine and a large cast. If you like one you'll like the other.

  • @Ramubay It was an ENORMOUS theater, the kind at which Siskel & Ebert would reserve the isle seats, very "old school" and elegant. It was also a 2PM show, which is traditionally low turn-out.

The showing was part of a series, where Classics like "Psycho" and "Wizard of Oz" were in the line-up. About 45 minutes before the movie, a violinist and pianist performed medleys of classic move themes.

It was truly an EXPERIENCE, a cultural treat in every way; wouldn't have missed it for the world!
