  • The new Mythbusters

  • I did it with a masterlock and it worked too!!!

  • Sam had a reinforced master lock on his storage locker, test it with one of those!

  • this does work!! people should look at bicycle locks that are designed to resist these kind of attacks...

  • what are the best freezing products? liquid azote?

  • I tried this the other day at work. Someone had put a regular master lock turn dial combination lock on someone else's locker. Used 1 can and then hit it with a hammer twice. It worked. I am a bit skeptical because someone had tried hitting to lock a couple times before I tried the compressed air can trick. I'll need to try it again on a fresh lock.

  • Interested in a comparison between a normal lock compared to a frozen one.

  • he didnt hit all that hard either...

  • Make more video'z with similar stuff from burn notice!! Awezum

  • Burn Notice for the win

  • Try doing it with a real lock, that looks like only the plastic shattered off, whereas in the show, it was a solid metal lock. And to add to that slightly, rewatching the scene, the screws were all on the OUTSIDE of the door, meaning he could have just unscrewed the panel the lock was attached to

  • I heard one of the producers is an ex spy

  • @kmatin97: Actually, he's a creative consultant.

  • good test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FEEL LIKE JAMES BOND!!, hell yeah I bought one of these cans the other day to clean an old pc but ended up freezing the shit out of everything, nice video just one thing... should have done this outside, don´t shit where you eat boys.

  • the guy recording almost sounds like sam from BN

  • Yeah lets just spray freon into trhe air during a period of climate change. Fuck you

  • @Svitlo37 Yes, a can of cmpressed air is really going to significantly harm the enviorment. Why don't you go outside and yell at people for drivng thier cars instead. Dumbass.

  • @themixedarts

Clean your kitchen. Fucking yellow shirt wearing bastard. And your fade is fucked up

  • @Svitlo37 1. That's not me in the video. 2. I didn't post this video, I only watched it. 3. Nice fail at trying to change the subject.

  • hello, im trying to find out if gas cans, (gas refill cans) can freeze stuff because my bike lock combination is stuck and i cant get it off what should i do

  • @DefaultBot if it's lighter fluid then no, Just go out and buy a can of compressed air (you'll find them in the computer section of most stores) That's the type used in this video, Tip it upside down and spray away then one good hit with a hammer and you're in.

  • the reason it didnt work at first was because u were supposed to turn the can upside down lol

  • yo, dude where did you get that can, and can i buy it in london

  • @DefaultBot It's the same stuff you buy at computer stores to blow out crumbs and stuff inside your keyboard.

  • You didn't try hitting the lock before chilling it. Not scientific!

  • next rime try a real lock, that was a cheapy lock

  • My teacher once said tv is a waste of time and cant learn anything,

my response what a fucking idiot, watch Burn Notice

  • Fucking love Burn Notice :P

  • Yeah, what a small and stincky lock. Try to do it on more serious lock than this one. Otherwise it would be considered as a joke.

  • @adamsv1000 I suggest trying it on a bigger lock too.

  • You should have shown the lock BEFORE you broke it... Not doubting that it works, but I am still a bit skeptical.

  • eyy does anyone know what is in the can. I mean anything specific or is it just a can of compressed air

  • @acekata90 compressed air is usually 2,1-difluoroethane. If dispensed upside down from the can, the liquid stays liquid rather than turning into a gas. The can gets very cold, even at normal use, hence him using oven mitts as it can cause frostbite!

  • mythbusters burn notice style

  • Thanks for posting that video :)

I actually always wanted to do that the moment i saw it on burn notice. But then again i never had the time for it or when i did have the time couldnt be bothered to try :D

    Thanks guys !!! :)

  • awhh...that was awesome!

  • i like that on the show fi did it without using a glove.

  • See, now you have a new asset in the field.

  • I think they use (liquid) nitrogen to keep that air compressed in the can... Anyway, great demonstration!

  • This gives a whole new meaning to 'Kids don't try this at home' lol. Great show nice vid B)

  • @jackbliss

    Yeah Exactly....

  • Burn notice is a great show, but that P.O.S. lock would have broken off without spraying that shit on it.

  • 11 poeple didn't do it right

  • you guys are lame

  • Burn Notice is the greatest show...ever. And I've watched most of the great ones: LOST, Supernatural, Smallville, Heroes, 24, Dexter...etc.

    BURN NOTICE!!!!

  • Now do the microwave one where he puts forks, knives and spoons with air fresheners. =D

  • Oh God, it actually works. I wonder if his bomb tips will work.

  • @6235river

Yes They Do,,,,Atleast Most Of Them...

Most Of The Tips And Tricks Are From Techniques Used By Splinter Cells Both Terrorist And Non-Terrorist To Create Improvised Explosives/Weapons...

The Guys At The Show Have Really Done Their Research Well...

However The Effectiveness Of Most Of These Weapons Have Been Exaggerated On The Show...

    ,,,,,

For Example The Microwave Bomb Works But Its Now Where As Effective As Shown In The Show...

Its A Good Distraction But It Can'T Really As Shown...

  • @Anitrex4Anitrex That Seems Like A Lot Of Work Pressing Shift Every Word. You Fail..

I don't get why people have to explain something to someone with bad grammar. You don't capitalize every letter in each word. But yeah, this video is pretty kewl. And comas?

    ,,,,,

Oh For Example, I Type Like This,,,,,

  • @WoofusDoofusKid

Well its youtube N nt my english peper...so it dosen't really matter wht splling i typ as long as the mssage is conveied....

And As For Using The Caps Lock In Every Word...I Am Really Used To It And It Dosen't Really Affect My Typing Speed....I Jus Find That It Highlights The Test Better....

  • The lock from the show was a much heavier duty lock. Try again

  • Not sure how it would work with a beefier lock, but still cool. The concept is there.

  • Try hitting a $2 with only the hammer...I'm pretty sure it will work too

  • hahaha I didn't know fans experiment with "spy techniques." COOL! I'm with dropkick45, I'm just "lost" with that show. BURN NOTICE is AWESOME!!

  • haha they sound like the mythbusters at the end

  • I know of another way to open doors and locks by using Superbumpkeys, all you do is put the Superbumpkeys in the lock and bump the key and the lock opens with out it getting damaged so that means you can put the lock back on and no one will know you were even there.

  • cheap lock

  • Maybe in your next vid you can make a bomb from a microwave :)

  • In the immortal words of The Boondock Saints (rocco and cat scene) I CANT BELEIVE THAT JUST FUCKIN HAPPENED!

  • after i saw the episode i did it to

    and damn it worked

it didnt say 'do not try this at home' so wth i tried it :)))))

  • cool, vid but pissy ASSEd lock

  • Where did you buy the freon (?) from? Or was it some other can of freezing awesome?

  • @ShrapnelFire It's a can with compressed air, if you turn it upside down the spray gets cold like -40 C or less

  • Great show! I think the spy tips are what makes this show worth watching. For all the tips you can’t find on youtube, you can find all the tips at UrbanNinjaBlog-com

  • @coystar Great Tip. I was looking for a good website with the spy tips. I'll need to try this one at home though. Awesome Video!

  • You need liquid nitrogen, not compressed air. Secondly, learn to pick locks.

  • @Whitehorze that lock they smashed up was a number code lock

  • @BellaMarieSwan1000 Yeah, some of them have key backups but the cheap ones I had in highschool could be smashed open with my heel.

  • @Whitehorze cool

  • nice but with usck a small lock id rather just cut off for free

  • Way to act like a 12 year old and do everything you see on TV

  • @GryffinDarkBreed why are you such a cunt

  • @GryffinDarkBreed Mythbusters have done something similar or same, so are you saying Mythbusters are also acting like a 12 years old? Who cares anymore about what you think when your being a fool on youtube you just didn't get enough education. And DON"T YOU DARE COMMENT ME! I would've left you alone if you hadn't been a Jerk to this person, but people like you who make stupid comments needs go back to school and start all over again from preschool till wherever you are now. Learn to be nice.

  • Hey thanks. Oh my arm is sorta flat. Gotta go work out now with a compressed air can and hammer. Bye!

  • i tryed that in front of my class once for a project.... i broke my teachers tool box

  • what spray it is???

  • @shaked2100 its that dust sprayer for computers and stuff. just flip upside down and it will blow very cold mist that freezes on contact, so watch your hands for frostbite

  • @ossanamama92 can you use any spray? just upside down..?

  • what episode it???

  • I watched all the special features on my Burn Notice DVDs. They actually have a guy on the crew that they give specs for tricks like this to. He goes home and figures out how to do it realistically, then comes back in and teaches Jeff, Bruce, Gabrielle, or whoever to recreate it. This is a relatively harmless trick, so they showed all components. The bombs and stuff, on the other hand ... they work, but they leave bits out. LOL

  • Just saw that part of the episode a few minutes ago. So glad I found this, thanks :)

  • agreed burn notice is the best

  • Wher do you buy this

  • man i was gonna test this as well ahaha

  • haha try this one at home.

  • Based on the lock they used, I doubt you even needed the freeze-spray stuff. I use these type locks but they're only meant for the most basic of security, and will NOT handle a direct hit from a typical carpenters hammer.

  • cool test, i saw that episode. didn't they use super glue to keep a door closed too?

  • burn notice, gives help to everyone when their in a bad situation,

  • hey guy, why don't you have your socks on?

  • NICE

  • haha i saw this episode and wondered if it really worked also. I had the can of air i just didnt have a lock to waste. instead my dumb ass friend thought it would be a good idea to spray me with it... That stuff is sooo cold.

oh on a side note... I doubt you needed that much lol.

  • Hey guys, included your vid in an article check it out at examiner.com

  • That's a pretty awesome trick - although that lock didn't look all that strong, I wonder if you could have smashed it anyway without the compressed air. Would like to see this trick with a heavier duty lock.

  • nice video ... but seriously why would you do something like this in the kitchen?^^

  • haha...givin burglars ideas... lmao nice

  • I prefer refridgerant R-134A (for modern car's air / available at auto parts stores) or commercial "freeze spray" for cooling / testing electronics for thermal intermittants. Available at radio Shack....and a ball peen hammer!

  • i always wondered if this worked!

  • WHAT EPISODE IS THIS IN????

  • @rockinrambo1 season 1 finale part 2

  • That's a cheap lock. That's why it's easy.

  • LOL. He says "great success" Borat style.

  • Fuck "LOST" Burn Notice is the best show on TV.

    Also, great video.

  • favorite show

  • i tried it on one of those locks the use in gym's and schools and it worked u could prolly break it with the hammer alone but freezing it helped im sure

  • I'm so pissed off that the season is over for burn notice... CAN'T WAIT TILL JUNE, when it comes back on.

  • that 's awesome now we know what Mcgyver does to get into the liquor cabinet

  • @aekhoo

Yeah, he uses his duct tape ^ ^

  • @aekhoo BA HAHA nice XD

  • Yo, all seasons are on Full TV Shows Online . com

  • cool and you just ripped off mythbusters and next time try a masterlock it probably wouldn't open!

  • Next time use a real padlock and not a dollar store one and do a burn notice on this here trick. I bet it wont work .

  • or a big ass pair of bolt cutters or an oxy torch

  • WOOO BURN NOTICE RULES

  • i broke an indurtrial lock off of a shipping container, this was a thick ass expensive masterlock 2 cans of compressed air and the lock poped right open.

  • like, those big ass ones that are double or tripple the width of that tiny little lock?

  • @jaydoubleyou23 dude im talking about an industrial lock that goes on shipping containers. like this thing is maby 4x the size of that little ass lock they have there. i used 2 cans and it popped right open. sick stuff.

  • 1- you can break that crappy little lock with a hammer alone

2- try a lock with more than 1 cylinder

    3- mythbusters

  • grate success!

  • ha dumbas

  • @bensnet2008 That word has two "s"'s, Dumbass. Learn to spell before you flame, assclown.

  • try this on a masterlock now

  • mythbusters

  • but u didnt have tu use thatmuch but hey iw would have a big chance of it working

  • I've broken padlocks, combination locks, that I've lost the key, or forgot the combination to, with just a hammer alone, I mean they're still useful tools without the compressed air.

  • Yea it was. I did exactly as I saw it done.

  • The Freon is what does it. If it's just air, then it probably won't work.

  • @PaperbackWizard lolol. It's not Freon. Freon is a trademark, and isn't used any longer, as it's a nasty CFC.

  • @fuduzan5562 Well, if it's not Freon, then I must have heard wrong when I was watching the episode, 'cause I'm pretty sure he said Freon.

  • it's all mostly true on the like the cantennae or the tire iron

  • Hmm... can't tell what type of lock this is.

    Will this work each time?

I tried it on a master lock, blasted the freezing air for about 20 secs, then ran out, and gave it a few swings... didn't work for me =/

    Help someone?

    thanks.

  • wer did u get thet freez bottle so i could get

  • It is canned air. You can get it any where, you just have to hold it upside down for it to do that.

  • That was great. Good job, haha!

  • Most the stuff on the show is true techniques its just using them correctly thats the problem.

  • You should have hit it with a hammer before using the condensed air to see if that is why the lock broke.

  • If its as cold as it looks, i'm pretty sure the extreme cold combined with the rapid temerature change makes the metal brittle, to the point where it can easily be broken by a solid hammer swing. As was obviously demonstrated. Bretty damn cool.

  • It crystallizes the metal, that is why it shatters.

  • that was tight man. Please tell will this work on a deadbolt or a door knob style

lock because i have some old unsed locks lying around yes no?

  • it sure will, just need more and colder, you can freeze virtually anything, check out "absolute zero" on google

  • Watch Fight Club. "Someone sprayed freon in your front door lock, then used a chisel to shatter the cylinder." You can buy some types of 'freon' (aka R-12, R-22 or R-134a refrigerant) without even an EPA refrigerant technician certification (though I have a universal cert. anyhow) over the counter.

I did this to a military 5200-series padlock once with an axe and a CO2 fire extinguisher. Those are solid, soft brass though. Easy...

  • i have the same stove.. i think

  • lol me too

  • haha "wheres the rest of the lock?" lol

  • hahaha i just watched that episode!! hahah awesome ! it works!

  • Funny, that's just an air blaster for computers. Very cold indeed!

  • good video, but you should've tried breaking the lock with the hammer beforehand too...cuz if you could break it without the canister, then you need a stronger lock...cuz that was a tiny one lol

  • oy vey I went to Best Buy and they only allow 18 year olds to buy this stuff.

  • and for good reason lol

  • Yea go Burn Notice, best show ever haha and yea the lock was tiny, but none the less it still shattered it.

  • That is so awesome! XD it is kind of a small lock though, lol.

  • compressed air wont work... however, if you tried some wd-40 or freon with the canister upside down. regular compressed air will NOT work.

  • What do you mean "Regular Compressed Air"? These guys were obviously using normal Compressed GAS. Difluoroethane, trifluoroethane, or tetrafluoroethane is used in these cans, and it'll get very far past 0 Celsius when sprayed.

  • nothing personal, but with a lock that size i dont think you needed ice to break it in the first place

  • You guys should do like a mixed verson between Jackass & MythBuster... Just Watch all the Burn Notice episodes (like myself [love that show]) and see how much of it is legit... Without the C4 though! Like making a cell phone into a listening device... that was cool and would be even cooler if it can actually be done without major skills... PS - whos toolbox did u break into? lol

  • We need to know if the same lock could have been opened with a smack from the hammer w/out the cold. Otherwise you don't really know if the cold worked.

  • Good point.... Okay guys, next project needs some comparisson or control group or something... And no cheating! :-)

  • The myth is confermed

  • it is because they use a hammer...easy enough...you don't need the "freezing stuff".Only stuff that really works is liquid nitro

  • Have you ever heard of these freaky things called ice cubes? Turns out if u get water cold enough they'll shatter... no nitro needed... ;-)

  • when you spray that stuff upside down for the liquid spray you get this bad taste in your mouth if you lick your lips, its like this cemical taste

  • looks like computer clean i hav done it before worked pretty good u just have to make sure turn it upside down

  • do u know what he used as the propellant?

  • It's canned air used to clean computer keyboards and fans. It's called Freon and you can get it anywhere if you're 18. It's mostly found in stores with computer accessories.

  • thanks man...............u gotta be 18 though? thats stupid do u know of any other compressed air stuff that will work as well?

  • Ok, so back (waaaaay back) in my silly early teen years some buddies go that dust off stuff and we inhaled it for a really strange high, WHICH I DON'T RECOMEND AT ALL (all it does is make u dizzy and sick feeling)... But, I do remember it wasn't that cold or else we wouldn't have been able to inhale it...

  • A few years ago a kid I used to babysit inhaled it ( he was 15) and he died within less than an hour of doing so.

And it's only cold when you hold it upside down so the liquid freon can come out. The air itself is cold as well but it won't crystalize your face like the liquid freon will.

So yeah, don't inhale cans of stuff, it'll kill you. =P

  • I think the better message would be to say: "dont inhale anything but air."

  • A420 that's because it needs to be shaken or turned upside down. When you do this you discover it's not really air but a coolant inside the can. If you inhale it in this liquid state you can freeze your lungs up and invariably die.. which is why people who huff the stuff will give you a dirty look if you drop the can and make you take the next hit. ^^

But you can use that coolant to freeze and break various locks, but depending on the lock you may need a good bit of it.

  • just buy a air duster

  • where can u buy the propellant?

  • totally badass!!!!!.....love the show........ now of course i have to do it

  • it works on small locks but not big ones this is old shit if you get ac refill that will work on big locks

  • what was that stuff called that you sprayed

  • According to the producers of the show, everything Michael does is possible, just expensive.

  • for bigger locks you can just take the canand spray it in the keyhole then take a screwdriver and hammer...for the heavy duty kind

  • they do this in fight club too, in the book. they only mention it in the movie.

  • I have that same toolbox
