I was totally at this show!! My friends, NUMIC, opened, and Jerry borrowed the guitarists (Dennis) wah pedal. Les Claypool was there, too. It was the most amazing surprise of my life to see him there, as AIC had been my face band since '91. Now I need to find my video of that night... :)

incase you havent noticed... what you just wrote down IS almost the entire song....the point is, that jerry is singing in the same key as his part on the studio album. the only part he sings that is laynes is the last part of the verse.... which is a low key that jerry would normally sing anyway... and the main point is... 85 percent of the song is jerry doing his part and the dick in the hat trying to sing like layne

I don't think Jerry really wanted to be a lead singer but he didn't have much of choice when Layne became 'unavailable' in the late '90s... He's got a lot more confident over the years and a lot better. Also, it's not easy to just jump on stage and belt out one song.

man, i have a deep respect for jerry. he wrote most of chains' biggest hits and sang alot of it as well, his riffs were awe-inspireing, but his voice just isin't rough enough to sing alone (not that his solo songs were bad). Layne was a cool guy but sometimes i believe he was just a voice for the band, because jerry couldnt do it on his own.
