Mark Roesler, Page's agent and attorney, says Friday that the 85-year-old is "critically ill." He says she suffered a heart attack Tuesday and remains hospitalized.

He would not comment further on her condition.

Page is credited with helping set the stage for the sexual revolution of the rebellious 1960s. She attracted national attention with magazine photographs of her sensuous figure in bikinis and lingerie that were tacked up on walls in military barracks, garages and elsewhere.

There's something about Bettie Page, especially her out of women models of that era. There she is in the video being sexy, but there's this element of fun and cuteness about her. She's not just about eyebrows and looking sexy. She's not just writhing around. There's fun, and even humor, that I see in this. She does her funny little dance. I have been a fan of Betties since I was a young lad many years ago. She is my ultimate ideal woman, those eyes, hair, smile, body and the outfits... man she has it all. She has truly stood the test of time as each year new fans discover her some fifty years later. In any dictionary the phrase "timeless beauty" should have a picture of beautiful Bettie next to it. No further explanation is needed.
