  • @divisorplot Suck this dick.

  • ...just two words...

    "THE BAND"

  • Thunbs up if you agree John Paul Jones is among the top 10 bass players in rock history.

  • @muzaklover78

    top TEN?

  • @Ozzybeans Yeah, I guess top 5 would be more like it. My top 15 list would have to look like this (keeping in mind its not just skill I look at but overall effect) : John Glascock Dave Hope John Paul Jones Flea Stefan Lessard Paul McCartney Roger Waters Noel Redding John Mcvie Bill Wyman Duff Mckagan Dave Ellefson Stu Cook Eric Wilson Steve Harris
  • @muzaklover78 I nearly neglected Ray Shulman!

  • The groupies are waiting.....

  • zeppelin is a powerhouse.

  • my most favorite thing about zepplin and it is not said enough is the way they treated each other and there fans they set the example fpr all heavey metal bands respect your band mates and get along and never forget them in bonhams case

  • I could hear this jam all the way from England even though I was still in the womb, and in Hawaii at the time.

  • This beginning of this song screams Soundgarden

  • Listen to the version when it's in black and white, it's really amazing as well probably my favorite!

  • If only they'd played 1/2 as well as this at Live Aid. :)

  • Wow thanks for posting this. Led Zep was a band that really knew how to groove. They don't even have to look at one another for the changes. They have jammed together for long they instinictively know where the flow is going without missing a lick. Bottom line these guys were just flat out the true embodiment of Rock-n-Roll to the MAX!

  • I wish now that I had gone down the front so I would have been on the film. I thought about it as things got more uncontrollable as the night went on, but I thought row 11 was ok at the time.

  • Hands down the greatest Rock band of all times. The stones are a pimple on Zeps ass.

  • I would chop off both my legs and arms to be standing at that front row. Literally the greatest Zep performance ever.

  • make this 480p if you can man , it will become the top ... although i think it might be better at 360 because it draws less attention to youtube

  • freakin LEDGENDARY

  • like number 666 lol

  • this is what the blues was meant to sound like... these punks are freakin' amazing.

  • this is where its at- you can feel it when your hair on your neck raises to this--- QUALITY

  • Only Zeppelin can rock these outfits and look good.

  • RIP John Henry Bonham 9/25/80

  • 6 people missed the like hand ._.

  • Think about the good things in life, well that's Led Zeppelin isn't it?

  • the most fuckin epic performance I've ever seen.

  • Just tryin to break the 666 comments :P

  • Best Rock Band of all Time

  • Never knew Page played the main riff around frets 5 and 7. I always did it down on fret 2/open E/A/D. Should give the Page way a try.

  • Best Band the world have ever seen!

  • Comment removed

  • Im glad they filmed this as I was always telling people what a good concert it was, and at the time it didnt seem that they were filming it to put out.

  • Has been my favorite Zeppelin song since the first time l heard it. Was honored to be present when they played it live in Toronto when they toured as Page Plant. Along with hearing Ronnie James dio sing Stargazer in a solo tour in 2006 and Notis Sfakianakis performing from midnight till 6 am in Thesaloniki Greece the 3 highlights of my concert experiences.

  • 7:07-7:18!!!

  • this rendition is so fucking awesome!! :D

  • this song is the most underrated zeppelin song... to me this has got to be the greatest of theirs.

  • OMG listen to that tone from JP @ 5:00 !!

  • what dvd is this off of? and where can i get it

  • @SoundMaker76 its just called "Led Zeppelin". you can get it at like FYE

  • John Paul Jones the most underrated bass player in the world

  • stunning. must listen to, loud.

  • I hear a hint of Good Times Bad Times around 7:00!

I love the way the operate, mixing songs to create something new and just as amazing!

  • I love the bass part on this before they come to a brief halt somewhere before the end, and then the drum part on "Steal away!" =D

  • what a freaking intro! unfucking beliveable. can someone PLEASE hurry-up with that time machine already, I'm waiting.

  • I realise now how much most of the music now is terrible. For instance Justin Bieber he got rich off being able to kinda sing and he looks good. No emotion anymore.

  • @Brinoser strange how being a boy lesbian passes for good looking these days

  • @Brinoser Stop talking about Justin Bieber, fag.

  • they look like chibis in this video

  • this is there best concert

  • They're really great!!!

  • Right at about 9:24 jimmy plays a riff and it is the exact same notes as the beginning of the endless riff in whole lotta love. haha

  • you know what i just realized this concert was on jimmy pages birthday :P

  • Jonesys's bass fucking GROWLS!!!!!

  • Too true.

  • The best rock band ever

  • One of the few bands that play even better live than in their studio recordings.

  • The main riff of this song has so much power that if you were to play it live outside at any town festival today, and could play it this well, it would start a riot and the police would be helpless to stop it. There is so much pent-up emotion in people these days, especially young people, and they don't know how starved they are for real music until they hear it.

  • @owlcu that's kind of life changing. (i'm not being sarcastic)

  • Comment removed

  • @owlcu i didnt understand any of that, but i got the main gist haha i agree!

  • Comment removed

  • I think you are correct . But unfortunately that may mean our young people are currently deeply disturbed , lacking imagination and likely suicidal

  • yeah... your right cuz all todays music is about horrible shit happening and killing and rapng and girls and stuff back then music was so happy and lively and that was the best decades apparently

  • @owlcu actually, that happened back in the 60s when jimmy page and jeff beck and a few others first introduced this raunchy electric guitar sound to young people. There is a movie from circa 1966 that had a droning, hard, deep heavy guitar riff, that no one had ever heard before that time (again, this is the mid 60s) and the "youths" of the day literally rioted.

  • @BeyondNeptune blow up was the name of the movie

  • pepole back then probably took this for granted. Little did they know that music was not going to constantly evolve and get better. In fact, evolution of music definitely peaked a long time ago. Been on a sad and steady decline for decades now.

  • @BeyondNeptune youre right in a way, though even at the time this was special and I was aware how good it was the next day when I woke up with it still in my mind. there was so much around, the next week I went to joni mitchell in london, which jimmy page also attended, and there were probably lots in between I should have gone to. I thought of it a bit like the biblical 7 years of feast then 7 of famine, but its been 42 of famine from this time Im afraid to say.

  • as someone has already said, it was 40 years ago and I remember it so well, especially this track and some that didnt make it to the dvd.

  • 40 years ago and still kicking the ass!

  • what is this DVD called?

  • Its a self titled DVD. It was The Ship Rock on the Cover.

  • Everyone of them is absolutely kickin ASS on this song! I had this DVD and spent most of my time on DVD #2, then I came across this and haven't been back to #2 since. Amazing.

Also check out the extras on DVD 1.

  • that riff is so fucking awesome. you just have to at least bob ur head to it

  • Plant is kicking ass here! what a showman

  • this is the sorta thing a mean when i tell people the live versions are way better than the studio recordings

  • the best rock group in the world ...bar none!

  • I'm surprised they left this up. They took down all the other Zep videos I had up of the RAH

  • its because this is sooooooooooooo good!! there is nothin better!!!

  • Look at my zeppelin video and use that copyright in your description, they can't ban it then

  • @dothedewupurs i don't understand why they would...It's all on the DVD. Same with Knebworth and Earls Court...They obviously wanted the world to see this.

  • @dothedewupurs because, this one, is the best. ever. out of all of everything!

  • This is Jimmy unleashing some of his all time sexiest jams on his 26th birthday. What a way to celebrate. Wish I could've been here.

  • Ive been lucky enuff to see Zep twicwe...In 1970 and 1978.The 70 show was like this video....MINDBLOWING! But the 78 show was sad....it was a cold mechanical performance..."Take the money and run" kind of thing.Sad really.

  • @thyman01 You should check out the Page Plant vid of this song it outrageous version in Germany 1998

  • ok,will do mjc455!

  • Jimmy is playing with the neck pick up on alot. Cranking treble & mids

  • what a genius guitar tone. this performance is the main reason why i bought myself a hiwatt amplifier, but i still don't really get that tone... damn! :D

  • @retrospection69 Do get that tone you would need to turn the amp up ridiculously loud to get the tubes screaming

  • i dont know why but their the best THE GODS OF ROCK theres no one like them

  • IMO the best jam on the whole DVD

  • I have played in SEVERAL tribute bands. From Chili Peppers To Police. I learned how to play drums by listening to Bonham as a kid.If not for that, there would be no way . You must be able to feel the music/ not count or do math like Rush or Tool. easy in comarison to this! Playing Zeps music is THE most fun I have ever had playing drums. I have a vid and we just decided to play the Ocean in the middle of a Police show, and crowd dug it! Too bad singer/bassist didn't know it.Check it out.

  • the solo is freaking mind blowing! i really can't figure out what he does in the beginning part of it, you know, the part he does in some of the solos throughout this concert, and it's making me angry!!

  • No, the guy means John Paul Jones' real name is John Baldwin, he wasn't talking about Bonzo :)

  • best performance of a song of all time

  • check it out..just before and some after...9:00

One whole Lotta Love chords, oh yeah

  • what kind of shoes is page wearing

  • I think low cut tennis shoes.

  • ive always wondered why Jimmy tunes down to D at the beginning of the song...

but it doesn't sound like his E is down to D when he plays... heh...

    the mystical powers of Jimmy

  • They just spliced film together, Jimmy is tuning sown to D because that splice of film is from the beginning of Moby Dick which is in dropped D.

  • ah i see... didn't think of that.

weird that they left that in there.

    hm oh well..

  • why at this concert does page insist looking at Bonzo when hes soloing.

  • maybe to tell him when to change beat?

  • Jpj isn't dead. And John Paul Jones isn't his real name.

  • we no

  • It's his stage name. he's on stage. When he's not then we can call him John Baldwin.

  • dont you mean BONHAM!?

  • No, why would I mean John Bonham?

  • cuz thats his name not john baldwin

  • No, their drummer was John Bonham. I think you might want to get your facts straight.

  • John Baldwin is John Paul Jones' birthname

  • lawdy mama

  • Best concert they did.

  • @Murreh totally agree man!

  • john paul jones and john bohnam r.i.p make up the best rhythem section in the worlds history

jpj and bohnam r.i.p r just boss

  • Not sure what you mean but JPJ isn't dead. But then again the rhythm section is so I guess you're right.

  • i mean bohnam rip

  • w8

    jpj is alive

  • i mean bohnam rip

  • Greaaat sooong!!...but a little bit fast isn't it? Played slower sounds strong and naughty :)

  • every concert they played was fucking magic. what a shame this band is no more. raw talent, raw energy.

  • lol, the day when my dad was born xD

  • love the Neil Young he throws in at 9:13..."be on my side, ill be on your side...there aint no reason for you to hide..." from Down By the River

  • what is page doing at 3:00 ? He looks like he's pissed at Bonham. LOL

  • no just rocking out

  • thats john paul jones and hes probably talking to him or signing him, they do that a lot.

  • GOD DAMN EPIC SOLO!

  • Best concert they played.

  • besides knebworth

  • i liked earls court

  • i agree with you this whole concert is perfect. i think its actually my favorite concert ive ever seen. out of anything.

  • THE GODS OF ROCKNROLL

  • awesome shit for sure

  • This is the best musical performance ever caught on tape. Love those stage moves by Pagey.

  • I can never tell, does he go into D or not?

  • sounds like it

  • He gets in drop D at the beginning but its gotta be for Moby Dick. There is no way he would do that for this song. The audio in the DVD is not a continuous play.

  • so is he tuning back into an E?

  • I think the beginning audio and video is right before Moby Dick, and they splice that into How Many More Times.

  • wow i never knew they did an ever harder rock version

    i give it 5 stars

  • most powerfull voice ever

  • Did anyone catch the Neil Young lyric at the end...

  • yes, and over the Whole Lotta Love riff

  • anyone know a site where I can purchase this great dvd that ive never heard before.its great

  • sweet black baby jesus!!

    Plant's voice changed soooo much!!

    bu the always sounds amazingg!!:D

  • AWESOME!!! simply fantastic. These guys were brilliant together. Don't get many bands that can jam like this. Not even close...

  • biggest band ever

  • estos chicos si que se entretenian con lo que hacian

no como ahora que todos se creen dioses

y la fama los vuelve idiotas

    el rock esta muerto

  • improvisation at its finest!!!!

  • Jonsey is so great on that bass... he is so overlooked most of the times...

    I love you Jonsey!!!

  • Led Zeppelin owns me!!

  • let's face it ...Rock RULES! Put your hands together for the good things in life!

    yeah you mother fucker!

  • Jimmy lleva el ritmo en las venas, jaja.. Muy copado como se mueve

  • My fav zep song, john bonham is the greates ever!! this song was so heavy for its time.

  • Bonham is really beating the shit out of the drums, even when the song starts kicking in

  • Sick ,,,,,the best

  • Beautiful

  • My fave Zepplin song.

  • i like how in between songs robert is so timid but then when the song kicks in he goes nuts

  • robert plant can improvise like nobody else led zeppelin kan really do no wrong my man bonzo killin those drums but wen has he ever stoped led zeppelin tha greatest of all time nobody comes close

  • Ever hear Rusty Day improv? He takes the cake for sure

  • i get chills when i hear this fuckkkkk

    TOO FUCKING GOOD

  • They seemed to be like merlin, living life in reverse having their best stuff come at the beginning!

  • ha, robert plants like, "You paid your money, Now we want you to groove."

  • jimmy keeps trying to draw jpj into the spot lite lol

  • Best rock 'n role ever!!!!!! Nobody tops Robert Plant!

  • was GREAT his live voice didnt age well at all

  • Well, he simply kicked it here. I saw him in Orlando long ago and then in Oklahoma in the late 90s, and his voice and performances were killer! The only thing I don't like about him is that he treats his audience as if they should be privileged to be in his presence--really full of himself. If I could do what he can, I might have a swelled head, too--I guess.

  • jbianucci

how about Plant's hero and his main influence - Steve Marriott?

and please don't give me a thumbs down, even Robert himself would agree with me on this :-P

  • No, sir. No thumbs down. But you know that voice is absolutely unique (underscored)! One of a kind.

  • umm...the thing is when you know Marriott's work especially in Small Faces then it's obvious that Robert's voice isn't that unique as so many people think. On first two Led Zep albums Planty was HEAVILY influenced by Steve, later he developed his own way of singing, was more original.

However there is no doubt that Robert's voice is great, one of the greatest Brit. voices of that era.

    I love Plant's voice.

I'll give you two quotes from him:

  • cont. (part 2) to jbianucci

"In a 1977 interview with Ray Coleman, Robert Plant referred to Steve Marriot, the lead singer for the Small Faces, as "the master of white contemporary blues."

"I could never be compared with Steve Marriot because he's too good, unfortunately! He's got the best white voice, for sheer bravado and balls."

    and

    >>>interviewer: Watching you now in The Song Remains the Same — the swagger, the posing, is still a great thing to see.

    (cont. in my next comment)
