  • love it.... touch the sounds haha.....

  • a tune is a tune . simples .

  • excellent tune ...

  • good records ! matrix =.=

  • omg back when detroit and chicago ruled the scene... thanks for posting. i miss the 90s.

  • @debthemango they still do...

  • LOL classic good

  • Nice use of Kraftwerk samples.

  • Hey RealFreshBlog,

Do you also have the Sean Deason "Kindred Souls" shown on this album?

    I'd Like to hear it. ; )

    Cheers

  • this is sweet as

  • wicked,,

  • This is such a wicked track. Need to get the vinyl out and play it again

  • Mad mike said something really clever:

    Leave it like water

  • Theres two different types of music in this world. Music I like and music I don't like. This I dig deeply. Blows me away.

  • The true house classics still reign champion today!

  • yeah!!!! Techno!!!!

  • My god those pitch bent strings!

  • You people crack me up when you spend time commenting about whether something is "techno" or "house" or "tech-house". Can somebody explain why semantics matter at all in music?

  • kids dude

  • @jfs250 it`s not really about semantics it`s about different genres. Techno, House, Techhouse all share similar sounds but they are different genres and therefore have their own distinctive sound. To the uneducated ear all these genres might sound very similar but there are subtle differences in the production. By the way i`m not saying you`re musically uneducated i`m just trying to answer your question.

  • MOst def' also remember most genres are defined by scenes at the time 87 - 89 acid house 89-92 detroit house / techno 92 - 96 uk rave hardcore 96- 00 trance / deep house ... same with Jungle's progression to drum & bass, subtle differences that as a massive electronica nerd I can single out.

  • @chairlog But why does all that matter? you sound like an uneducated person yourself...

  • On the contrary, it does matter to most people, otherwise there'd be no such thing as a musical genre and that would be plain stupid. Chairlog sounds very educated about music and most people would agree with his summary. We don't see your 'armchair expert' opinion of monumental validity do we? Try thinking in future before taking the easy option of slagging off other peoples views.

  • Oh right so there's no such thing as 'Rock' 'Country' 'Classical' 'Pop' 'Reggae' etc..... It's not a case whether (you) believe it 'matters' it's called a GENRE, that is a word to describe and categorise different styles of music.

  • Notice that my original comment did not say "what is a genre?". My original comment was just something I've observed. I'm a 26yo jazz musician from NYC. I also collect club records from the 70s ("funk" and "disco"), 80s ("boogie", "house"), and 90s ("techno"), so I've spent time thiking about these things.

  • I guess what bums me out is that a lot of DJs these days program entirely out of "tech house" or "deep house", or what have you, and end up with a homogeneous-sounding set. I wish people could be inspired by the entire repertoire.

  • this IS TECHNO!! i doesnt have to be banging to be techno... the name says it

    TECHNO- LOGIC

  • "techno has to be fast and bang bang bang"...........you... fucking... moron.

  • Lovely DX synth. Nice one-takes me back!

  • oldschool begin's of techno music

  • Great posting...another side of "detroit"..nice one

  • d3tosser

  • Of course it is.. It's got the most simple tr909 4/4 kickpattern u can possibly get. To say Kenny Larkin isn't techno is like saying T99 - Anasthasia is classic techno like some idiot did recently on youtube -.- rofl!! :P

I mean.. have u heard Dopplereffekt?

  • saying anyone is techno or isnt techno is the most retarded thing i have ever heard, it depends from the tracks, analstasia is crappop dance

  • @subclonk I have heard Dopplereffekt but that doesn't make me judge and jury of music.

Why the fuck am I even going into this?

Close your fucking eyes, open your fucking ears.. and enjoy

  • hermosa musica

    un placer

  • perfectooooo

  • Thanks RFB, great tune. For anyone confused about whether this is or isn't techno ... the music made by some Detroit producers from sometime in the early '80s was influenced by such sounds as Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Human League, PIL and other Euro post punk and NR outfits, but also sprang directly from the city's strong black music tradition (MOTOWN). All possible because of a healthy disregard for genres. Techno is not all bang bang bang. Free your ass and your mind will follow!

  • very nicely said mate

  • uhm in my opinion techno has to be fast and bang bang bang otherwise is another style, this track is detroit jazz breakbeat . i free my ass but this remain breakbeat sorry.

  • you're absolutely right my friend....

  • @rob57uk you tell 'em rob!

    : )x

  • @rob57uk I just freed my ass and shit all over my bedroom...IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED ROB57UK???!!!

  • @rob57uk good to see that there are some intelligent people who comment on youtube. Most of the comments on here are just so stupid. You know yr history, thanks

  • ok i didn't say Detroit didn't use it

  • Fair enough.

  • @HeartMind999 poor kid got schooled

  • @dwaynedibbly lol this is fucking detroit breakbeat, you are the ignorant not me . stop stalking my comments in all youtube, you know my comments are the best lol stop follow them .

  • It's like Derrick May's Kaotic Harmony.

  • I wish people still made records like this

  • i wanna download these songs soo bad!! = )

  • no problem it's original detroit techno !

  • no It's techno :)

  • no!

  • Detroit also used breakbeats way before Drum & Bass/Jungle etc.

  • So did funk drummers.

    wait.

    ;)

  • @RealFreshBlog How I "love" those stupid genre discussions. Phat is phat.

  • @RealFreshBlog your point?

  • this is so awesome...completely not what we call techno nowadays

  • If it ain't made in Detroit, it's probably some bullshit. This is funky & moody; straight from the "D"..... Yesterday, today & tomorrow...TECHNO, for those who know!

  • You probably have heard hardstyle or hardtechno, which have nothing to do with these pieces of art. This is the heart of the genre. Sorry for my bad English :)

  • english was perfect :)

  • THANK YOU! THANK YOU! FYI...check out other Larkin releases like POD (northern lights ep) and early Dark Comedy...

  • Hope you don't mind that I post these for interested parties..the first is Larkin's POD northern lights...the others are just favs..

    /watch?v=Mi5Fmg2livQ northern lights ep

    /watch?v=xYmYAEsDxOA& dan curtin

    /watch?v=PHEf-hXB8SQ dj hell

  • dont like techno but kenny larkin is dope

  • BTW, AWESOME tune My god...

  • RFG, can you get something from the Video Game "Killer Instincts", it got some good tunes.

  • there is something better than electronic music. not!!! ;];]

    kenny larkin is da man

  • one can recognise easily the Kenny Larkin's style with its slightly acid waves which overhelmes the lazzy surf of the lower sound's line

  • This was released in 1993? Man these guys were way ahead of the times. It is excellent foreshadowing of what was to come. If you listen to DnB or techno nowadays the beats are highly influenced by guys like Kenny.

  • This is ahead of it's time, but then again, how far ahead of their time were Kraftwerk?

  • this tune is nuts

  • I truly love Kenny's style

  • Me too my man.Me too.

  • OldScool RockZ

  • started off like broken ,

    kenny class

  • this is a real masterpiece

  • I think Kenny, bought a syth with a pitch bend for the first time on this one.

Good techno but way OTT on the pitch thing

  • nah thats the point !

it just makes the track sound so more dreamy and messed up

  • I could easily listen to this via the computer every day, but nothing beats listening to the real thing - vinyl. Discogs, here I come!

Leon, some of your uploads are costing me a small fortune.

    Keep 'em comin'.

  • Another masterpiece from the man Larkin. thanks for the upload!

  • Sure is.Thanks ressla for the comment.
