This is in a nutshell why Arabs tolerate dictatorships. When the religious authority tells us that the Dictator is there because God wants him to be there, then the door for reform is closed. May Allah have mercy on Sheikh Sha3rawi, he was a good Sheikh, but on this topic he was dead wrong. We have the example of Imam Hussein who stood in the face of his tyrant. When the Ummah can understand the message of Imam Hussein, then the dictatorships will fall like Dominoes...

Essentially, what Sheikh Al- Sharawi is telling Hosney Mubarak is not to chase leadership, but to be asked by the people to lead. And given that he has chased leadership, then may Allah help him in picking up his game [in leading people properly].
