  • It was very unlikely that she was black because her father Ptolemy XII Auletes is Macedonian and mostly like had her with a family member! and even if he did have her with an Egyptian woman she would still not be black because ancient Egyptians were predominantly Caucasian.

  • It is mostly like she is Mediterranean because she was born to Ptolemy XII Auletes, who is of Macedonian heritage and probably had Cleopatra with his sister, cousin or another family member!

  • Nice rubber sword guy...LMAO

  • she was ugly compares to nefirteti

  • Check out my renditions of Anastasia (1956) & Lassie Come Home (1943)!

  • I dont understand.. How could she be so beautiful? The whole family fucked each other. I thought you get bed shaped kids out of a brother sister fuck

  • even the trailer is too long

  • @beRIGHTperson She wasn't black. Some scientist think she had blue eyes and blonde hair from her Macedonian heritage. If not she was at least bronze skinned. Don't we all just love tanned women?

  • @chinchillacat2008

She did not have blonde hair, she had dark hair and olive skin! You want to make her seem as if shes Nordic (like German, English or something) but shes Mediterranean!

  • This makes me think of when Jasmine had to make out with Jafar -_-

  • How could ugly black Cleopatra seduced white Roman mans?

  • @beRIGHTperson

She wasn't black but she sure was ugly (go google her coins)

  • A pawn??? Marc Anthony was not a pawn!! Cleopatra was deeply in love with him...:(

  • @Catahasbun *A-HEM* Unless you were alive around 47-30 BC I think that's a matter of opinion. :) In my mind she was in love with Ceasar. <3

  • @Catahasbun (of course I've never seen this movie)

  • Cleopatra=Eastern European

  • @policeman7093

AHAHA you wish! She is not eastern European for sure! she is Mediterranean (Greek or Macedonian)

  • A good movie. To think that because of this Fox nearly faced bankruptcy giving out so much money for this project, while trying to get Marilyn Monroe do her Something's Got To Give.. Hey, it's not only Liz who's stunning. Oh well during this time all the eyes were still fixed on the purple-eyed lady too much. Good thing Marilyn successfully 'pushed' her off the cover of LIFE magazine (as what she had said that this is what she wished for) with her posing nude in such flawless, enigmatic body.

  • eo eo eo

  • @1916JewGasAccusation

How did YOU forget so much you failed to get to College?

How did you get so stupid, you were driven to make accounts with the names of issues that never affected you personally but hurt many? Why r you here, on Youtube when you could be online at an academic site discussing your grand theories to a group of intellectuals you think should listen to you? Why are you so arrogant that you would believe I am interested in the nonsense that comes from your embarrassing drivel?

  • The most breathtaking Cleopatra movie ever!

  • ..there is no reason to argue about her skin colour, lol, she was Greek in origin anyway.

  • Egyptian history people tell themself that they were never black. Each country is close to each other it doesn't meant they are all Africans. On Jesus time the Africans were slaves, there is no way, the Egytian and Roman people who lived in Egypt could never let African looking Cleopatra ruling them. Egypt know they history better than Africans

  • see they think its entertainment

  • JuliaTaylor is the best Cleopatra of all time!

  • her mother was egyptian!!! her father was greek the resourse (national geoghraphic)

  • was cleopatra really evil?

  • this was an impressive movie for the time. i watched and was amazed at all the work they put into this movie without really any technology

  • ac ac có nhất thiết phải nói zậy ko trungtorres

  • như cứt

  • Elizabeth Taylor fucking great beautiful woman in the world

  • bộ phim có kinh phí lớn nhất cho đến nay đây sao...hay đấy chứ!!!

  • Hhhhhhhhhhh black americans trying to take Greek HISTORY! hhhhhh!!! XAXAXA

  • "Cleopatra is not the king of schahba..."

  • Jessica Lowndes actress/singer.

1- shes a new young up coming female star who is actually talented and has a beautiful voice.

2- a new face the public would admire and not associate with other movies/roles.

3- her graceful beauty fits to play a role of a seductress Queen.

4- all she needs is the guidence of a talented director and the support of the people. (and seriously the right make up artist)

  • DAMN i thought cleo was supossed to be tan!! she LIVES IN A DAM DESSERT!!

  • @TwinklesMe yea is stupid!!! is like jesus being played by a blond blue eyed guy!!! is like what the hell

  • apparently Cleopatra was intelligent

thereby debunking the myth that she was african

    logical deduction.

    case closed.

  • Why are people arguing, let's not forget this is a Hollywood movie so I am not really that surprised Egypt has been white washed. You could say the same about Prince of Persia or Avatar the last air bender. It's perfectly normal lol. At the end of the day everyone knows Cleo was some what coloured (Not by much though because she was in fact partially or full Greek!

  • @sam3314 what do you mean everyone knows, nobody knows what her mother or grandmother was, nobody,if you do bring proof, you can speculate all you want but there is no proof, never have been and i doubt there ever will be

  • @boxingwarrior1 History does show that she was a descendant of the Macedonian Greek ruler Ptolemy. So she is half Greek/Macedonian and she could speak Greek. However you're right about her mother/grandmother, we are unsure of their roots. Could be Egyptian could be Macedonian who knows, hence why I stated 'partially' or 'full'. She could be either. Maybe we'll find out someday the evidence may unfold.

  • I can't find this movie anywhere... Any ideas were to look??? An is it worth buying???

  • I liked the first half of the movie ..when she was with caesar.

  • 'my breast filled with love' O_O

  • @PrinceChris93 Cleopatra was a daughter of king Philip of Macedonia and Queen Olimpias her older brother was prince Alexander. Cleopatra is a Greek name not African and not Egyptian. Egypt was officially the Arab Republic. But it's not Africa it was the muslim country.

  • @beRIGHTperson Keep this in mind, Arabs are not the indigenous people of Egypt, black African's were. White people are not the indigenous people of America, Indian people were. Ancient Egyptian was a black civilization, the Sphinx represents a black person, as the statue of liberty represents a white person. You are highly ignorant, and misinformed. You can't be oblivious to that, why would Arab's or white people build a Sphinx that represent a Black Men or Women? Wake up

  • @beRIGHTperson Egypt was not always a Muslim country.Being muslim is a religion...not the people. The Arabic people took over Egypt. The Egyptians where part of the Mediterranean, north of Africa.Yes it might have had many arabic citizens but as well as many greecians since Alexander the great conquered.Remember that Egypt had many trading ports so it was expected to have many people from many places. An ancient egyptian would have probably looked at the Caribbean people (west indies) Own opinion...

  • @beRIGHTperson well actually Hispanic people as well as Caribbean people

  • @beRIGHTperson I think you need to sort your history out a bit. You are correct in that Egypt was ruled by the Greek Ptolemys since the time of Alexander the Great (c.350 b.c.). However it was not Arab/Muslim until the conquests of the 7th c. A.D. some 600 years after the time of Cleopatra Vll. . Between 4th c. and the 7th c. it was part of the Christian Byzantine Empire (The Eastern Roman Empire)

  • "Arab Republic"? "The muslim"?

Were Marshall McLuhan (1911-1980) alive today, he'd surely say the principal function of YouTube in this world is to provide a veneer of legitimacy for what fifty years ago would have been called the most errant damned moronism imaginable, beRIGHTperson. Good grief is the 21st century tiresome! Take your thumb out of your mouth and scratch your head with it.

  • @beRIGHTperson are u stupiud? her father is Ptolemy XII Auletes. She was a member of the Ptolemaic dynasty, a family of Greek origin that ruled Egypt after Alexander the Great's death

  • @beRIGHTperson LOL, that's a different Cleopatra. The one you mean was wedded to Alexander the Great's father. And there was NO Arab Republic and there was no Muslim religion around before the birth of Christ. The Cleopatra you mean = 340 BC, the Arab republic is like 1800 AD+ and the Muslims were 500AD+

    BIG FAIL

  • @beRIGHTperson

Uh you might want to double check your facts.

    1. Cleopatra VII (the one in the movie) was of Greek Decent since Alexander the Great had annexed Egypt, and practiced Egypt's relgion

    2. Islam wasn't founded until 610 CE (after Jesus was killed and the western Roman Empire collasped) and split into a civil war soon after Muhammed's death

    3. A united Islamic Empire didn't exist until 758 CE and was conqured by the Mongol Empire in 1258 before the Ottoman Empire rose to prower

  • @beRIGHTperson

The Cleopatra featured in this movie is Cleopatra the 7th and is the daughter of Ptolemy XII Auletes so get your facts right!

  • Cleopatra was one of the powerful woman in the world. She ruled Egypt after Alexander.

  • I love this movie! It was extravagant (the wardrobe and set design was amazing!) and the acting was brilliant, especially during the emotional scenes between Cleopatra and Ceaser; Cleopatra and Antony! I honestly don't get why some people don't like it. I read that the film had some historical inaccuracies and it almost bankrupt the studio. But that's no reason to just dismiss it. This is one of my favorite films; it's excellent film work.

  • So she was the ultimate seducer? The queen siren?

  • her parents were greek and related to each other.

  • чо за нахуй !!!!!

  • i thought she was greek origin!! she is mixed !

  • Check out my renditions of Ben-Hur (1959) & Anastasia (1956)!

  • damn, gotta watcöh this movie right now, google helps finding a stream :D

  • If Egypt is in africa why did a white woman play an african?

  • @PrinceChris93 well, you should go to egypt and ask the egyptians why are they white

  • @PrinceChris93 because back in the day white actors played as people from all over the world, asian, african, they had all the roles the world wasn't very ready for "colored actors".

  • @PrinceChris93 well at least as the leads in the film.

  • @Iheartdolls4ever I'm just glad things are a bit better now

  • @PrinceChris93 History my friend. Cleopatra was greek, her ancestor was a great general of Alexander the Great. When Alexander died, his great generals carved up Alexander's land. Just so happens Ptolemy carved up Egypt, and began adopting the traditions of a pharoh. The rest is just history.

  • @PrinceChris93 Actually, Cleopatra was a Greek!

  • @PrinceChris93 Cleopatra was from the Pompey line which were Greeks. She was in the Hellenistic period when a greek lineage ruled Egypt. That is one of the points in the movie that isn't riddled with historical problems.

  • @PrinceChris93 Because Cleopatra was white. Common knowledge. Why would they get a black person to play the role of a Greek women?

  • @PrinceChris93

what color she should be in your opinion? She was an Egyptian.

  • @PrinceChris93 most of the people in Egypt are white.

  • Production on the film began in 1960, soon after the release of Liz's Academy Award for Best Leading Actress nominated film, ""BUtterfield 8"" (1960). Taylor, won the Academy Award, in 1961. The script to, ""Cleopatra"", was first intended for African-American actress, Dorothy Dandridge, who rose to superstardom, when she starred in the all-black musical, ""Carmen Jones"" (1954), for 20th Century Fox; she was nominated an Academy Award for Best Leading Actress (more info , check out their bios)

  • DID EVERY ONE NOTICE HOW the ONLY BLACKS were DANCERS?!?!

    LMAOF ... What a joke

  • Cleopatra might be of greek bloodline but she was was a pharaoh, unlike ptolmies she refused to speak greek and learnt Egyptian and called herself goddess Isis.

  • It's a good movie. Would have been great if they had done as they had orginally planned and done 2 movies: Caesar and Cleopatra, and Antony and Cleopatra. But the studio, eager to capture on the Liz and Dick mania of the time, compressed it into one film. Maybe someday someone will remake Cleopatra's story into 2 movies. It needs atleast 2 to cover everything about her amazing life.

  • @phoenix1985 there's been alot of movies made about Cleopatra. And the "Caesar and Cleopatra" and "Antony and Cleopatra" films have already been done; I think it stars Vivien Leigh. There are some other versions too. Check them out.

  • @chilvari True but very few if any have shown Cleopatra in a positive light. Most have shown her as a greedy chidish slut. When in fact she was a wise and benevolent ruler for whom every decision was made in an effort to benfit Egypt and make Egypt secure. For an excellent read on the matter I highly suggest "The Memoirs of Cleopatra" by Margaret George. An absolutely moving and stunning read about the life and times of thie greatest of women.

  • @phoenix1985 wow I never noticed that; I'll be sure to read up on Cleopatra thanx :)

  • @chilvari When writing the story of Cleopatra, all anyone had to go on was what the Romans chose to write about her, which was unflattering to say the least. Shaw's "Caesar & Cleopatra" show Cleopatra as a whiny, self obsessed child who uses sex to reclaim her thrown. Shakespeare's "Antony & Cleoptra" shows her as a horny, oblivous woman who only cares about having sex with Antony. Although she is redeemed in the final scene. Stilll, read the book, tells the story from her perspective.

  • What a beautiful Egyptian

  • she was greek and eygitian she was decended from one of alexander the greats general's that had conqued the middle east 300 years pre-her :)

  • years after alexander the great most of the middle east was broken up into kindom's by his fellower's which where greek! :) so her and her family where greek

  • Its a boring 8 hour movie fyi

  • SHE WAS BLACK NOT WHITE

  • @nigadje cleoptara comes from a greek family

  • @kennethduncan Um fyi back in that time era Greek were doing a lot of transactions with egypt. Including marriages to Africans. Alexander the Great married into a Royal Ethiopian family to gain knowledge and power because African power was a matrilonial society (power passed down to the women). Cleopatra was lighter skin mixed but her blood runs think with African DNA. Damn why is it so bad for the world to accept the darker skin? Science proves that human race came from Africa. WTF

  • @nigadje Cleopatra was definitely white. Her entire family was Greek.

  • @Xenu WHITE AFRICAN

  • People in Cleopatra's time thought she was smart.

  • my breasts are filled with love and light.... *cue chessy music*

  • @miyou800 Love and life even.

  • why am i seeing white egyptians

  • @tricks1991 lol i know.. egyptians were black

  • @jmob288 Ancient Egyptians and modern Egyptians look exactly the same.

  • @Xenu then why were the ancient wall spaintings of egypt have mostly dark skinned people on them? cleopatra was black. the modern Egyptians descended from blacks.

  • @jmob288 Oh boy. We have a mental case here. Cleopatra was white Greek. Her entire family was Greek. Wall paintings distinguished between red-skinned Egyptian men and black Africans. Egyptian women were always depicted with light skin. Skin color can't change in 2000 years. What a joke.

  • @Xenu no your the one with the mental problem. her farther Ptolemy left the kingdom for rome. thats how they are light skinned now. wow that was easy. cleopatra was not whie. i can tell you that now.

  • @jmob288 The Italian weather turned him white. Interesting theory. Cleopatra was as white as white can be.

  • @Xenu lol thats funny. she was black that's all i have to say. most of the pictures and paintings of the past pharaohs had shadings of dark brown paint.

  • @jmob288 No they don't. Modern Egyptians and ancient Egyptians look exactly the same. For that to be different you would need an entire genocide of the entire population. You also have the DNA tets on the mummies which prove that modern Egyptians have MORE black African blood than the ancients because of the slave trade. So modern Egyptians are actually BLACKER than ancient Egyptians.

  • @Xenu i didnt say every egyptian was black. i just said cleopatra was black. the majority of egyptians were black. until you can explain why the paintings and creations like pottery in ancient Egypt used dark paint color then i am done. large paintings of the pharoahs had dark paint. it was obvious that they had dark skin.

  • @jmob288 They didn't use dark paint color. Men were red; women were yellow. Genetics has proven what is obvious anyway, modern day Egyptians are MORE black than the ancients. And Cleopatra wasn't even Egyptian. She was Greek.

  • @jmob288 We also have two coins with Cleopatra's face and one bust. All three are obviously of a white woman.

  • @mob288 you were ABSOLUTELY right!!! she was as black as obama, alicia keys or T. I.

    @Xenu HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA

    KEEP DREAMING!!!!!!

cleopatra was BLACK ... BBC news just had one of the main archeologist working specifically on cleopatra's family ... and he confirms this in the BBC documentary ... SORRY DUDE

    WATCH BELOW

    watch?v=SDyilFGNm_Y

  • @dogons2k12 ::sigh:: This is the nonsense about her pseudo-Arisone, isn't it? Well, that's not her sister and she wasn't black, either. Have you ever looked at a bust of Cleopatra or at her coins? Her entire family was Greek.

  • @Xenu "Well, that's not her sister and she wasn't black, either."

oops do I sense a DESPERADO trying to cling onto ANCIENT EGYPT ?!?!?

this evidence is quite RECENT buddy

WHERE IS your most recent evidence?!?! LMAOF

    spread FACTS not HATE

    watch?v=SDyilFGNm_Y

  • @dogons2k12 The mummy isn't Arsinoe. The mummy belongs to a 15 year old while Arsinoe was older. How the hell do you think a black woman would have become queen of the Ptolemies? The Ptolemies married only among themselves. Her coins and busts show a white woman. There is absolutely no evidence that Cleopatra or any of her family members were anything other than pure Greek.

  • @dogons2k12

BBC? seriously... and I think greeks weren't black. Besides she likes Egypt more than ptolmeys and she even called herself goddess Isis. o.O

  • @supermiro07 did you watch my video and done research on the new findings or you are just talking and assuming out of your ass?!!?!?

BBC and a TV1 (a french channel) are currently working on a new documentary to finally put this issue at rest!!!!! Do you follow current events?

    watch?v=SDyilFGNm_Y

  • @Xenu The Sphinx represents a black person, as the statue of liberty represent a white person. You can't ignore that, why would Arabs or a white person build a statue that represents Negroids? Ancient Egyptian is a black civilization, Arab's are not the indigenous people of Egypt you in denial bigot. Just like whites are not the indigenous people of America. Ancient Egyptian started to decline when Arab's and whites conquer it, you are very idiotic.

  • @7Know7Thy7Enemy7 God you're stupid. They've done DNA tests on the mummies. Modern day Egyptians are MORE black than ancient Egyptians because of the slave trade. That's a proven fact. In America there was a genocide of the original inhabitants. There was never a genocide again the ancient Egyptians. It's the same people for thousands of years. Does the Sphinx look negroid to you, moron?

  • @Xenu Modern day Egyptians are Arabs, Arabs are not the original people of Egypt. They migrated there. You need to look and study Ancient Egypt objectively, stop looking at holly wood movies. America is Indians original land, as Egypt is African Negroids original land. The Sphinx clearly is a black man, as the statue of liberty is a white woman. Ignorance is bliss

  • @7Know7Thy7Enemy7 What part of DNA evidence do you not understand? Modern Egyptians are MORE black than the Ancient Egyptians because of the slave trade.

  • @Xenu You can say that until your voice become horse, at the end of the day, Arab's are not the indigenous people of Egypt. Don't mean to shit on your riff, Egypt belong to Africans, like America belong to Indians. See you in 12 hours peace

  • @Xenu Wrong. Ancient Egyptians and modern Egyptians do not look exactly the same. The Khazars did not invade Egypt until the 8th century, white is where the Middle Eastern Egyptians derive from. Ancient Egyptians consisted of Afro Africans as black as modern day Kenyans. And Egypt was not called Egypt. It was called Kemet.

  • @AceKing2012 Yawn.

  • @Xenu Ignorant people like to sleep on truth.

  • @AceKing2012 The only ignorant people are people stupid enough to think Cleopatra was black despite all we know about her family history and her portraits.

  • @Xenu How white people tell themselves lies to up their self esteem is so comical to me. She has no portraits. A portrait is a portrayal of who you are. She has nothing but deceitful devils painting white images of her. She has no European heritage. That is a myth. But then again, you devils do love your myths.

  • @AceKing2012 You don't sound like a mental case at all.

  • ON YOUR KNEES! I demand it of you!

  • 23 people wouldnt kneel

  • wow, GREAT looking, clear, colorful, and elaborate and beautifully authentically designed movie for only the early 60's! an elaborate spectacl to be had for sure

  • 3:17 one of u viewers learned the history about rome that the senators killed Ceaser and stabbed him 23 times. MAN!! THE SENATORS ARE MAD AT HIM BECAUSE THEY TOLD CEASER TO COME BACK TO ROME WITHOUT HIS ARMY, but he did but with his army, so that's why they killed him. very strange!!!!

  • i wonder if the greeks meet the egyptains

  • it's cleopatra, not niggapatra

  • @Gonzoidz Dude don't even go there!

  • @Gonzoidz O.O how did you know?

  • @Gonzoidz lol thats funny....its true as well.

  • cleopatra was of greek origin.she wasn't an egyptian as most people think

  • it's funny because cleopatra was actually quite unattractive

  • @HeartShapeGlasses007 thats what most historians claim, but very few women were desxribed as beautiful back then they spent their time discussing men.

  • @HeartShapeGlasses007 By today's standards lol... but back then, it's different hehe.

  • @paladindragoongirl18 agreed, though there were some very beautiful men and women of the time (even by today's standards (: )

  • looks cool, the kisses look all fake tho

  • With inflation this film cost $320,000,000 to make.

  • The story of Cleopatra is not 100% clear but only the Bible can confirm her story in Genesis12:10-20. What the Scientists/Legend story on stones is NOT 100% clear and interprete but only the Bilble can 10000% confirm her.

    SARAI is CLEOPATRA...

  • Cleopatra is the story of Sarai the wife of Abram mention in Genesis 12:10-20. All story have GOD always famous and live forever. Cleopatra is til today still not 100% but the legend says Cleopatra is a beautiful foreigner woman who married the pharoh, have affair with her lover, destory Egpyt then gone. In Gene12:10-20 is Sarai married the Pharoh, still seen her lover Abram, a bad sickness to Egpyt then Pharoh took them out. WHY WHY Cleopatra is so popular is because is a story of God.

  • @iviliamu

Cleopatra try to save Egypt (by marriage and make union with rome )

beacuse egypt haven't any chance against rome and Rome already make his empire before 30 bc and congeries all countries in Mediterranean sea

beside this egypt was in war with parthia before Rome

  • i miss her so much.she was such a good person.and she lived a good strong life.rip dame Eliza we all miss you. :'(
