When are we going to stop relying on power rugby? If we had good coaching and tactics we'd clean the Australians up time and time again. But those Kiwis and Aussies are smart...
@paullombard00 don't worry about them. New Zealand is running at maximum efficiency regading rugby. The same can not be said of the boks, or the aussies for that matter. If the americans ever took this game seriously, w would be utterly finished, all of us, forever :D
@uthikoloshe Americans are not superhuman, no matter how much funding they put into rugby it is OUR game (nz,aus,SA,england etc)..yes their gridiron players are fast but so are rugby wingers, we are just as big and just as fast and i say we are more physical. I think they will stil be nothing compared to the top nations even if they took it seriously
@Phillyated20 Your deluded if you think america couldnt win this if they actually seriously took to the game. Do the math, 300 million vs how many in kiwiland? They have every advantage except they just dont know the game exists.
@uthikoloshe what makes them any different?they are humans just like everyone else, money does not make u better at sport. they could inject millions into rugby and it wont make them any better than the dominating nations. The only way they could was if they imported coaches and players from overseas to teach the ways
They have a population of 300 million. A TV audience to die for. The money that floats around in american sport is incredible. The have demonstrated that in any sport they compete in, they are deadly, if not invulnerable. Rugby is Gridirons father. It was created from an early form of rugby. Had the americans adopted rugby over grid iron, they would be dominant, IMHO.
@uthikoloshe That doesnt count for anything,tv viewing doesnt make a country better at sport just gives it notiriety.basketball, swimming, gridiron(a one country sport). Theres an equal amount of things they DONT excel in, look at speed and strength stats of alot of rugby athletes compared to alot of american athletes. Sure they have super big and tal athletes..but so do the rest of the world, they just dont get the chance to be noticed
@Phillyated20 Your logic mate, you should stay out of the sun.
You last point first "They have super big ath...like rest of world...just not noticed" This very same logic of course applies to all the rugby shaped athletes walking around USA. 1 - 0
IF they took rugby as seriously as they take grid iron, THEN they would be very diminant. I think this as IF the kiwis can be so good with a little over 4 million to choose from, THEN the americans could be amazing
@uthikoloshe ok mr logic, USA takes a majority of the olympic sports seriously and do not dominate in every single one of them, so this takes out YOUR view of if-USA-takes-something-seriously-they-will-win-it. Rugby teams arent made of 300million people(even though how many of that percentage are fit atheletes), they are made of 22 players. A country of 300 million and a country of 4 million hve one thing in common - they can both provide a 22 strong team with athletes jst as gud as each other
@Phillyated20 American olympic medals totals 2549 from all games. In 2nd place soviet union 1204. When you double your nearest rival, is that not the dictionary definition of domination? Way to kick your own ass :)
Second point. Assuming you know what a bell curve is (if not google) then you will understand that the bigger the population size, the more exceptional athletes you will produce. If you get one Lomu from 4 million, imagine what you get from 100 times the size.
@uthikoloshe heres an example.americans take sprinting super seriously, thats why usian bolt is the faster sprinter in the world..oh wait hes NOT american and hes from a TINY country who produced a faster runner than a country of "300 million"..you just kicked your own ass with both of your previous comments :)
@Phillyated20 Phil phil phil. Jamaica has produced ONLY one olympic champion over 100 meters. America has produced 16 (despite boycotting a few games). Usian bolt is a great runner, but what of Carl Lweis, or Jesse owens, to name a few. Sprinting has been crushingly dominated by the USA.
America has a vast talent pool, and a whole bunch of resources to produce sprinters. That is why they dominate. Capiche?!
IF this machine was turned to rugby, THEN they would be formidable opponents.
@uthikoloshe and perhaps i wrote it wrong, i said USA do not dominate in every specific sport in the olympics, and yet they would put just as much training and funding into the sports they DONT dominate in as the countries who master the events. USA takes rowing seriously and it isa big part of ivy league programmes etc..i believe smaller countries hold out that event.Boxing? another USA serious-event..other countries take that out too.
i respect your opinion of americans being some of the worlds top athletes in some sports, but by no means are they better than every other athlete from other countries. We are all human and americans are no exception to that
exciting game but so many mistakes by both sides from handling errors to the piss poor defense especially the first half. Im predicting an aus win in game 2.
