La Roux are actually brilliant. Her voice is so amazing.

Oleglv the drummer is playing live, the first beat after that pause, that repeats the whole song, is electronic. He plays the softer beats.

Obviously they have the song playing in the background which they play over (you can tell when she repeats "this time baby" you can hear the actual lyrics in the backround and no its not the backing singer).

I guess they do this to ensure timing and to hide any mistakes I don't know I'm no expert.

no that's not entirely true. Some artists can actually produce the sounds that are in their songs. But they do it in like 200 takes. So they can't really sing as well live as on their songs. where as she can really do that and that's quite rare nowadays.
