Greg I'm Willie small Jr and I'm not sure who nick is referring to when he said his grandfather wrote traveling preacher man but my father has been singing this song for along time and our people started calling my dad The traveling preacher man so that's why he goes by tpm Willie small and his ministry is Tpm ministrys but my father has always let everyone know when asked who wrote this song his reply has been Greg Crawford . So God bless
@allcountywill Thank you buddy. I appreciate your Dad's ministry and I am humbled to know that he has taken this song to many far away places that i haven't. I am not trying to be difficult here. It is just that a songwriter's songs are very special to them. I wrote TPM at a time when I was really going through some tough trials. Thats where the line, "there's a cup and it's so bitter" came from. Again, I am honored that your Dad sings this song. He does a GREAT job! Gob bless you.
@nicklawrence1 Well Nick I wrote the song in 1980 and Bro West recorded it. He was a great minister and did a great job on the song. I was honored that he chose to record it. Willie Small heard him and sang it around the world. Lawrence Bishop charted it in the early 2000's. Many other ministers have recorded it as well. I have never received any royalties or credit but that is not why i wrote it. I am just glad people have enjoyed it. Glad you grand dad likes it. Blessings to you.
