I was born and raised in Pilsen and yes it is racist to say those things. For one I am Hispanic and I dont act like an animal. So here is my Unapologetic truth: your an idiot with generalizations of people, if anything your the one acting like an animal.

  • i used 2 live right on front of cooper but sadly the city destroyed the building where i used 2 live

  • When my father first emigrated into the USA, he lived in Pilsen :)

I love visiting from time to time, even though my parents don't let me saying that it's too dangerous. I think it's beautiful!

  • I live on Cullerton and Morgan...To my right, all yuppies and volvos...To my left, kids and pit bulls running, having fun in the street on a nice summer day...What a culture clash...I like the simplicity of living like a yuppie and the alegria of still being able to live around Mexicans because most Caucasians seem to work long hours and then go home and watch cable..Not much of a life...Gotta sit on your front porch and drink a few from time to time...

  • i live around there(:!

  • Pilsen is the heart of the Mexican/Chicano community in Chicago, right?

  • I would say yes but the Little Village neighborhood has many Mexicans as well.

  • i guess it started from pilsen then the move west ward to little village. numerous mexicanos also live in the maxwell street area.

  • @yoseph777

I was born in the Maxwell street area before my old neighborhood was destroyed to construct what is now the UIC. Many Mexican families moved southward towards Pilsen. This was in the early 60s.

  • @GUEROMEXICANO831 yea Pilsen, "Little Village", and "The Back of the Yards" are probably the biggest Mexican/Chicano communities in Chicago. The South Chicago and East Side area is full as well.

  • @smilenowcrylater9

Many people I grew up with in Pilsen now live in Little Village.

  • Thank you for this great video!, I've been out of Pilsen and Chicago for one year and I've seen one of my friends selling paletas and the murals recently painted by Alejandro Medina. It felt just like home!

  • Greetings from the Czech Pilsen. Our ice-hockey team just changed its logo. Guess what's inside: a Native American, just like in Chicago. So of course this ex-Czech neighborhood must be discussed, too.

But according to the creators, the Native American symbolizes the liberation of our Pilsen by the U.S. army (unlike much of the country which was taken by the Soviets). The Indian replaced a short-lived logo with a knight and helmet - representing our conservative past.

  • great video i use to live on 18th and carpenter,i miss the old neighborhood!

  • My brother Carlos lived on Miller across from Jungman during the 70's and 80s.

  • I lived in Pilsen from 1963 until 1979. It will always be my home. I was there last year. It is different but still the same in many ways.
