deep stuff. cult of the family going back to the biblical injunction. ferility=excess, and excess is comical. independently, two directors fifty years and a world apart made fun of it in the same way, used the same rhythm. it's a double joke and so striking! i wanted to bring it forward. the moral: culture outlives location and circumstances.
