Tony, you are a blinding reason why the industry is so shut up and tight at the moment. People, not unlike yourself, who don't know jack shit about screenwriting are teaching people who also don't know about screenwriting -- HOW TO WRITE SCREENPLAYS.

When Hollywood started to get an influx of shitty scripts that looked and read like shit (much like your own) they got progressively more strict with their standards, rules and regulations.

The information is incorrect. You leave the card stock cover blank (unless you're submitting to contests in which case you should follow their instructions). The title page which is UNDER the cover page should have title, written by, contact info, etc. I think he was just exaggerating when saying it was a few hundred pages. A few hundred pages is a bit thicker than what he held. Also use ACCO brand copper brads size 5 or 6 in top and bottom holes only.

My comedy/ romance will probly be around 90 pages, but hell if i had more to write, then I surely would put that in too.Also had sent a rough draft of my script,and now they want to see more.So, it's possible.Also because, I'm the main character, in my script.

If you have no credits, don't hand in a script over 105-110 pgs in length. The first thing the reader is going to do is flip it over and look at the number on the last page and if it's well over 100 you can forget it. They're going to barely skim the first few pages.

That's just how it is for newbies.

90 to 120 pages for a average 2 hours Holly Wood feature film!!!! ,but most epic summer type blockbuster films have scripts with like 200+ pages,but yea if you plan to sell your screenplay,especially if you a rookie in the Biz try your best to have it 90 to 120 pages!!!

For reals. 300 pages is too long. Just so everybody knows this (its never exact) but the idea is that one page is suppose to cover 1 minute of screen footage. Of course, you'll never know till you film it and work it out. So most scripts are between 120 page or more. Never over explain things. Its hollywood. Most people there dont have the stamina to read books. it helps to have a 1 page summarized plot. Avoid dictating edits or angles. Thats the directors job. Just describe what is going on.

usually, however some writers, such as tarantino, write over that amount. the first drafts of inglorious bastards and pulp fiction were over 1000 pages!

There are sooooooo many exceoptions to that 120 page ruke it's not even funny. Granted, most of the exceptions are not spec scripts, but who's to say that this guy's script is or isn't a spec script? Many of the longer films like Curious Case of Banjamin Button, etc are close to 200 pages; I know cause I've read them. And anyway why quibble about such a picayune thing. The guy is offering valuable info to screenwriters who don't know this stuff....who cares how "long" his script is?

First screen play i wrote was over 170 pages. (i didn't know better back then) Tried to get people to read it and they skipped on it. It was too long. Its not about the writer, is the studio. Most of the time producers wont even read the scripts. They prefer a 1 page synopses of your script. Because they are going to change alot of it through pre-production. Actors and directors are real divas. They'll buy into your idea but not your story.

I've read that it shouldnt be hole punched, nor should you have any thick "business-like" paper anywhere.

But this is just what i've read on the internet and of course, sources are going to conflict with other sources, so take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah, some people do half ass it. There are those that can make it work, though. Like robert rodriguez sometimes shoots movies based on 40 page scripts. But he pays for his movies and works them out in a none-conventional way.
