when Spain last tried to take back gibraltar by going to the UN, the UK gave gibraltar a constitutional veto. britain has had joint sovereinty with the population of the Rock since 1969, and owned it before this. it is still a dependent part of britain.

99% of the population of gibraltar prefere to be dependent to the UK, rather than have sovereignty to both spain and britain.

its a huge shame that the argument over sovereignty seems to force the people of gibraltar to sway one way or other... with such rich and unique history, in my eyes gib is neither spanish nor british, but what we would call a 'country' of its own.

personally (and in an ideal world) i would like to see gibraltar grant itself independence. the individuality and liberal community should be celebrated, not disputed!!!!
