jimjam - what if the dollar totally collapses? How would you take your profits then? Remember the stories of Germany after the war, and the wheelbarrow-full of money to buy a loaf of bread?
What about silver coins? Those you can use daily to buy food and other items in the even of a currency collapse.
And if that never occurs, well they still gain in investment value faster than inflation can eat them up...
