Dear Chuck Collins, Mr.McCann's history of his NYC based tv shows in inaccurate..He left NYC kdis tv in June,1968. And in 1975..he was doing"Far Out Space Nuts"on CBS
TV. The only tv show that he did in NYC during the winter of
1975 was hosting reruns of old movies on WNEW TV Ch.5
Well, he IS 78 years old. He's bound to get his dates and times mixed up. But it DOES come from the horse's mouth, so to speak, and not some random "fact" on Twitter.
I remember a political cartoon in 1969 in the New York Daily News. It showed confused and meek Bill Fiore wearing a Baltimore uniform and the load Chuck McCann character wearing a Mets uniform grinning from ear toear.
I remember when MAD maazine did a spoof of this commecial. The Chuck McCann character starts off by saying "How's sexy Mona". The spoof ends when The Bill Fiore charcter shoots him by saying "One shot and I'm good for the whole day, you peeping tom!!"
On a Spanish dub of this commercial, someone posted that they recalled seeing this (in English) on TV in 1970. Seems about right based on the look of it. Very cool!
Correct. Sorry I didn't give him credit before. I have always thought I remembered seeing him play a lawyer on Return To Peyton Place back in 1972 which would have been at the heigth of his fame due to this commercial series.
Looks like the bathroom in my old apartment shithole in the Bronx....

I quote Mr. McCann himself, "The Chuck McCann Show ran from 1960 - 1975 in various forms, on New York's WPIX then WNEW."

I lived in the States from 69 to 71, and this was one of the few ads I could remember. Thanks for bringing back some memories!

Oh, hi, guy!
Chuck McCann was a funny man.
Badgerinmaine 3 years ago
IS! He's still working to this day. Practically been around since TV began.
chuckcollins 3 years ago
Huh! Didn't know that. That's one heckuva long career he has had.
Badgerinmaine 3 years ago
Yes. He had a children's show in NYC for 15 years, well into the time period when this series of commercials was on.

The other guy's name is Bill Fiore, and he was in several ads around that time.
