Front wheels come up, he shifts to 2nd, front end comes down, he's 2 feet from hitting the barrier and still has the nerve to shift to 3rd while correcting.
@nanjix 6 bolt and 7 bolt refers to the number of bolts that hold the flywheel to the crank. That is not the only difference between the two motors, some others are, the rods are different widths on the big end (Wider on the 6 bolt rods) and the 7 bolt runs 22mm wrist pins. There are other differences as well, but I can't remember them at the moment. In general summary the 6 bolt is the early type engine and the 7 bolt is the late type. I hope this helped!!! They both rock!!!
I guarantee that some 95's came from the factory with a 6 bolt although it was extremely rare, and yes you are right I forgot to mention the first generations never used a chrysler platform
A 6-bolt would never be in 95, ever, for no reason ever would it be in there, unless they swapped it. The 6-bolt went until 92.5 and from 92.6 on the 7-bolt are what all 4g63's were.
evanisredhot you are absolutely wrong on the 6 bolt. They stopped making the 6 bolt in mid 92 around april, that is when the 7 bolt came out. If you see a 2nd gen 95-up or even a lat 92 and newer with a 6 bolt it has had a 6 bolt swap by someone.
k Eclipse GS/RS use the Chrysler 420A 2.0 liter non turbo gs-t and gs-x have the mitsubishi 4g63t same as an evo, spyder gs uses the 4g64 2.4 liter non turbo engine, stroking the 4g63 involves using the same size crank from the 4g64 on the 4g63 as for 6bolts those are the first generation eclipse gs-t/gs-x before 95 usually, althought a handful were mafuctured with a 6bolt after 95
GS/RS for 94 and under never had the 420A. Actually RS didnt even exist pre-94 it was just a base eclipse. 4g63's could come in a gs, gst, or gsx back then. If a gs had a 4g63 it wasn't turbo'd tho. Otherwise they came with 4g37's in the gs or base model. Yet again this is just for 94 and under.
for the first generation eclipse from 1990-1994, there was no 420a. the 2L n/a was a 4g63 without a turbo. 420a's were in second generation eclipses only from 95-99. The 4g37 was the 1.8L sohc and found only in first generation eclipses. All of my information was to clearify the distinction that between the first two generations of eclipses, gs and rs models had different engine options. So to say that GS/RS use the 420a if they were nonturbo is incorrect.
wow, either way. I had no idea they used mitsubishi blocks in hyundai's... now i do. They had a 4g63 engine that was called a g4cp. Thanks for the added info lol
You are incorrect. a 2.3L is a 4G63 with .020 overbore, and a 2.4L crank, the 2.3 retains the stock 5.900" rod length. There is only 1 2.4L Stoker and that is Brian Crowers kit. A 2.4L Motor is exacataly what it states, 2,4L Block with turbo pistons and 4G63 head, 5.900" length rods.
Couple comments.... RWD cars don't get torque steer...driving a 6 second car straight IS hard...and lastly, giving credit where its due, this was filmed by IMVfilms dot com. Go check out their racing footage its top quality.
Im not saying bore the hell out of it. More displacement will spool a turbo faster no matter what the situation. John Shepherds record AWD Talon is stroked, and it hasnt had any problems that I know of.
Spooling faster isn't that important with a sequential automatic race transmission. Stroking the engine may also limit revs. Shepherds car is still considerably slower than this car, with a totally different tranny and turbo.

yes a 2.3 is a 4g63 bored with a set of longer rods I beleive, and the 2.4 stroker is a 2.4 crank and rods in a 4g63. I think this is right.

It would lose it's integrity. Displacement doesn't matter when it's a race engine with a turbo that big.
