@floridaskater07 Yes and no, Not this one because its got too much power and speed (and the fuel tank holds 10-12 gallons if i remember correct) but if you wanted to put a rotax 582 or 503 in that would work. People say those are death traps just because they malfunction when you run it past 2hrs like ure not suppose to. Hope this helped mate!
I just love how people down these little helicopters, yet trust their lives with a screaming piston engine in an R22, 44, Enstrom or Schweizer... Not saying they are bad Helicopters, AsI have my license and most my hours in a 22, But I would trust this Turbine Mini, a Turbine Helicycle, and with a few mods, a Turbine Rotorway even..
Fixed wing pilots are pussies! he'll I can teach a 8 year old to fly one. now jump into a rotory wing aircraft. you better have your head screwed on right. One reason I'm not to worried about the skys filling with retards!
What fuckin dipshit starts the chopper up outside it and then checks the tail rotor with no earmuffs then gets inside it? Couldnt you check the fucking tail rotor before you started it and then got in side and do it like the professionals do?
Ever try eating your breakfast, text messaging and checking your email while flying a helocopter? commuting would be a blood bath if everyone had one of these.
This is the sweetest helicopter ever there were problems but if someone could fix them it would be amazing and im sure there would be a lot of buyers imagine going to work and beating traffic... well atleast that is until everyone had one of thses then we would have airspace backups =) not the right wording i know but you know what i mean
99% of people are too dumb to operate a heli so the chances of air traffic congestion are really non existent. well compared to levels of ground traffic congestion. that said i am more than ready to sell my car and commute by heli. too bad heli pads are few in these parts.
As a pilot, I can't say I would be real comfortable spooling up a turbine engine and then walking back to the tail rotor to release it from the main rotor. Nice way to become a double amputee.
It certainly would be a nice ride to work assuming you had some place to land within walking distance of your office. And the the Solar T62-A2 is extremely reliable and very economical. You just want to make sure you have FADEC. You know you would be the envy of everyone in the office. Plus, because the Mini 500 is a single seat you don't have to worry about giving someone a ride home and no worry about some parking attendant taking it for a spin.
whats it like being a despised social outcast whom no one likes or even cares about? i hope your car stalls on some train tracks and you get trapped inside while a million tons of train smear you across the county. hows that?
@mlp0139 I just love how people down these little helicopters, yet trust their lives with a screaming piston engine in an R22, 44, Enstrom or Schweizer... Hello, i'm french and i would to know if your Mini 500 is always to sell ? Also i would to know the technicals differences between your version and the Rinke version with Solar T62-A2. I can send my email by private post.
Hey that turbine sounds sweet! It looks like a nice ship and good luck with the sale. It's all about stress relief and being happy. Don't let these whiners get u down!
Can you spell DEATH TRAP. Google the Mini 500 and check the NTSB accident reports. Poor design and a lot of fatalities to prove it - that's why they are out of business.
Nice heli, but i can never really understand why there are planes or choppers made just with one seat! I don't think I've ever met a pilot who wouldn't have anyone among his friends who don't want to get a ride in their ships. With one seater, you can't even get an instructor to check you out (as some insurances requrie). So why bother? I'd rather go with a Rotorway (at least it's got two seats). I suspect the cost to buy/own is that much higher (if it is) than this chopper....
someone rugby tackle him as he's cummin into land, its that small it would probably crash haha i love choppers n most things that fly but that would be funny to see in a controlled no risk environment :)
This looks fun, but if you check out its safty , i wouldnt get near one, to many fatal accedents, engine problems, etc, can someone recomend a safer one please.
Is there a clutch on the gearbox or is the power turbine coupled directly - if this is the case, is it normal to start the turbine with the N2/power turbine stage stalled (rotor was tied down)?
Pilots everywhere leave the a/c while the rotors are still, turning, its common practice on an ac w/o a rotor brake. And that t/o was hardly rushed. Judging by the pilots skill observed in the video, i'd gues hes a commercial pilot.
Very nice aircraft.. however t/o was rushed ..I take it some pilots dont use any effective ground effect (cushion) before transitioning to E.T.L ! may be on shutdown waiting for the rotors to stop turning
before leaving the aircraft..this is not good practice.
That is the John Spurling Turbine Mini with the Apex turbine starter and throttle control copied by many. No one has flown since. Although some claim they have.

Why would you wish death on any helicopter pilot, especially one that demonstrates adequate flying skills?
Disdain for the heli design is one thing, but wishing the ultimate penality for a responsible pilot is pure rubbish.
