I missed Rafa big time when & when Hodgson came in even more, problem is the season after this did so much damage with Rafa buying an injured Aquilani for £20m a replacement for Alonso after not patching it up with him. Sold other good players like Arbeloa & Hyypia. His time was probably up as I've heard Carra say all wasn't well in the changing room with him.

I was there, lovely warm afternoon & we played like champions after beating manure 1-4 on their patch. Problem was so many draws against crap teams that killed us, Stoke (2), Hull (h), Arsenal (2), Fulham (h), west ham (h), Everton (h), man city (h), Wigan (a), villa (a) & lost to spurs away after totally dominating as well as borough away even though they got relegated.

I was at this match, but as my Dad worked with LG at the time, we managed to get box tickets, so I wasn't sat in the away end where all the Liverpool fans were. However, after the game, we all went inside to have the after-match dinner & drinks and we could still hear a lot of noise in the stadium 10/20/30/40 minutes after the game had ended. I went into the stadium to see what was going on and the away end was still packed with Liverpool fans chanting "we're going to win the league!".

It is sickening to think that we didnt win the league that year. We couldn't have done much better against the big teams. It was only Arsenal that we failed to beat.

And it took the most fucking ridiculous last minute goal by Macheda to stop us.
