hydrofoil was invented by alexander graham bell in Canada in 1912, he made a 12hp inboard propel a wooden rowboat to 55mph. Why doesn't every boat use a hydrofoil?
Nice job. Seems very stable, although it might not need to be as high as it is and could probably get by with a Minn Kota 55 also. Not sure, but if it worked, it could be much more affordable, less polluting, and much quieter.
why the music..

Bell was da bomb.
fingered 2 years ago
Because the foil is technically complex, the boat can only be very light, can not carry a big load, and you must keep a minimum speed.
That are not good characteristics for most boats.
But its great for some.

electrique527 2 years ago 3
Boats dont need to be light, look at the BC ferries that are millions of pounds, and traveling 5X the speed on 1/2 the horsepower.
cppbandit 2 years ago 2
Compared to what? If you want high speed low payload travel (people) then its nice. But for cargo the traditional ship is much more economical.
electrique527 2 years ago
No he didn't.
iamfester1 2 years ago
@cppbandit Reliability, seaworthiness, expense, limited cargo capacity, and vessel draft for starters...

Whats the point in using an engine? Can you do it electric?
heavyweather 2 years ago
exactly - quite underwhelming speed for motored craft. Foilyak looks (probably isn't) faster and is human powered.
The water ski front foot can't be the best either
