  • I've found various dark trufles which turned out to be horse turd....I really can't tell if the "rock" in this video is the real thing...

  • its like finding gold!! 300 dollars right in the grown!

  • Top notch restaurants. And they pay well for them.

  • who can you sell those to?

  • Is that where the red ferns grow

  • That dog is a money maker!

  • I bet you have a lot of fun truffle hunting with the lab.Looks like a great way to get outdoors ,exercise and make a few bucks.

  • good dog

  • great video,, do we have them on the uk?

  • @weapons33. Yes I do believe that the UK has truffles, but of a different variety.

  • That is a very cute looking dog. :)

Did you sell that truffle by the way?

  • do you sell or eat?

  • wow! did you plant your trees pre-innoculated? do you know if they grow in texas?

  • @senorchipotle. The Oregon black truffle grows naturally with Doug Fir trees. So, no I did not pre-innoculate.

  • did u plant it 4 the sake of the video?

  • All of my videos are live and unstaged. Though, I edit out a fair amount of video of me not finding truffles too.

  • how much would it go for

  • Hard to put exact number on a truffle that size, but probably over a $100.

  • a fist sized monster like that is worth a good $400.

  • i second that

  • where? where would you privately sell your truffles and how can you judge the price?

  • @mycoexist in Germany the going rate for black truffles is about 2 Eur per gram (Spanish or French). If that truffle was 100Grams (4 ounces or 1/4 pound). Then we're talking about a 200Euro truffle....or $280 at todays exchange rate

  • half of it in an omelet with "walking hen eggs" and the rest, sliced on a creamy sauce over my wife´s pin rolled pasta....GRRRR

  • NOM NOM NOM

  • That's so cool!

I'm a fellow Oregonian and I am just now getting interesting in hunting edible mushrooms, I really like to cook and enjoy the outdoors.

That's a really great dog you have there.

If you ever want some company feel free to contact me, I would love to learn more.

  • WOW!!! I've been fortunate enough to find fuzzy false truffles, and though they smell faintly of garlic and slightly of truffle, I am not satisfied. Your videos have been very inspiring to me. Thank you. I live in Sheridan, OR, and am very interested in meeting you and Zoe. I have hundreds of acres of woods that we could search in, and I'm currently mapping out this last year's burns sites for this morel season. I have yet to find any white truffles, and I would love to find a black truffle.

  • Where are you at that you're finding these in the US? Give your dog a pat on the head for me!!!! I've got to find some to try. I've never tasted them.

  • These are Oregon Black Truffles. I've never had the French variety, but these are musky (like a truffle should be) plus they have a hint of pineapple or vanilla. I'd send you one to try, but they need to be shipped two-day express mail (expensive).

  • We can work something out here! I'm going to be out of town for a few days but when I get back I'll gladly pay the shipping. I'll get back with you when I get home. I'm thinking they're seasonal, so if not soon, then sometimes later.
