That "backward" culture is where our addictive oil comes from, what 1.5 billion people call a religion, where no matter how much you try our government cant seem to keep their nose out of. And as for these buildings they have stood for over 500 years can u say that about the goddamn ugly useless skyscrapers sprouting out everywhere? She's right our skyscrapers would last 50 years let alone 500 years. We need to change our ways.

ok... steel or no steel? i think steel in cob will rust even quicker than in concrete. reinforced concrete will never last over 300y! buildings of today are made to last 30y thanks to capitalism. maybe hemp fiber can help out?

steel rebar in earthen building weakens them not strengthens them. The oldest continuously inhabited structures on earth are built without steel. Steel and concrete skyscrapers dont last very long before they start to crack and rust and must be brought down with explosives.

Right, the buidlings have valuable qualities, but this woman is ridiculously dogmatic about the values of these architectures. In reality they have many problems, like the other posters said, they need rebar or cobs or whatever as reinforcement. They are also too rectilinear.....they are valuable in the material innovations but please, a lot of those people are slaves to islamic crazy backward culture....so get ffing real already, take the good, leave the bad for god's sake...

Those are beautiful. one thing kept nagging at me though, and that was the high death rates from earthquakes in places like this. I know the little hotdog stand was adequate on the shake table, but please rediscover rebar. It's usually a low quality steel, mostly made from recycled steel, and it doesn't take a lot to give a structure flexibility.
