  • Are there certain IR Messages that either the PSP or the RCX cannot use?

I have been at it for hours, and I cannot get the RCX to pick up the messages from the PSP.

  • Hey that was really good!!! Just one question how do you get those lego pumps ( and the tank and valves) ??

  • we need to rebuild him not want to spend much

  • xTwoTonTacox@ I think nxt is better(my oppinion)

  • nice, but this arm sounds like knäckebrot

  • which is better nxt or rcx?

  • he controled it by wiimote or phone!

  • this this this is is is eee wow!

  • Never again will I get up for a soda..

  • wow! thats a great robot arm!

  • how do you control it by a psp???

  • you have to get a sensor, search pspnx

  • How do you use PSP? OFW?

  • no, M33 series cfw.

  • does a psp have bluetooth? If it does thats your answer.

  • wooooooooooooooow in lithuanania its cost too much for me to buy

  • Very good job! The most of thoose robotics arms are much slower! so good job!

  • This reminds me of the ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) that they used to excavate parts from deep sea shipwrecks. (Look at the Discovery Channel show called Treasure Quest)

  • wow. How did u control it with a psp? bluetooth?

  • No! I think it was a wi-fi

  • cool. I just finished a hydraulic crane today. its much simpler though.

  • ahhh no it is actually bluetooth u can control them with ur fone i have one

  • sweet how much dose 1 of them cost

  • Around 180 Pound I think

  • a lot!

  • pneumatic???

  • Nice job.

  • It looked like you had an RCX and an NXT working together.

  • yum so many parts where do you get them all

  • how do you control it with a psp?

i got mind storms nxt and a psp and nothign to do outside or inside.

so how and how long does it take?

  • You cannnot do that with the NXT. The PSP communicates with the RCX.

  • i have heard that you can control the nxt with nintendo wii control is that true???

  • There is a peripheral which allows you to connect a PS2 controller with NXT.

  • You should have a few balls scattered in the radius and have

it pick them up.....that would be cool....very cool though.

  • looks a bit like a bird :) i like it xD

  • make it make do you homework:)

  • Cool Arm! lol :-D

I love how you used a PSP, 2 kinds of Brains & a Nematic Air Pump. lol :-D

Do you use a Custom Firmware or 1.5 for the PSP?

    PSP Program used?

    Program using WiFi or IR?

    P.S. I love Lego's & My PSP.

  • Custom FW, but 1.5 will work also. IR, using IRShell

  • Re: Laurens200 (In case of Posting Error)

FW 1.5. Thats cool. lol :-)

    I'm using 3.40 OE-A

I have IRShell too. Great program. lol :-D

When will Sony get a clue! People buy DS's for the same reason, we hack the crap out of our PSP's. lol :-)

    Thank You! lol :-D

P.S. The Homebrew that control's the robot with the PSP? lol :-D

Kind of. IRshell emulates communication commands that are normally used between two RCXs. So the RCX thinks it gets messages from another RCX and accomplishes tasks based on the message.

P.s. :p In case they do get a clue, they won't be able to stop the hacks from coming out :)

  • Sweet! Thank You! lol :-D

  • Perfectly! Where it is possible to look, how your air pump is arranged?

  • Via the link in the description.

  • it doesnt use gears to grip the tires - it uses 3 motors and the gripping action are those neumatic air hoses connected to the top of the gripping portion, the clicking heard is the bursts of air flowing, they produce more power in bursts than one constant flow of air

  • how do you control it with a psp?

  • awesome

  • How many motors did it used?

  • That was waaay faster than "LEGO strong arm"

  • i think i heard a few gears slipping while it was gripping the tires..

  • excellent comme d'habitude Laurens. bravo -- mouvement rapide et precis :!

  • It looks like Jeff Goldblum after he got fused with the fly AND the teleporter.

    -KILL ME!

  • now when robots take over the world you can blame the lego company xD

  • yeah if you would buy millions of lego mindstorms and lego sets you would be able to create a mecha XD

  • lol its be like optimus prime xD

  • cool! how can U control it?

  • Read -->

''A Robotic Arm, remotely controlled by Sony's PSP.''

  • sweet :)

  • I love how u used the smart brick for ballast. nice idea.

  • wow ! werr do u get these?

  • But whose to say that it was for lazy people huh? Maybe something like this could be useful for someone stuck in a whellchair. Think about that.

  • yajjreborn u r a moron.. this guy didnt do this because he was lazy, maybe it was a hobby. Also it is more work to make that damn thing then to pick it up

  • you are missing the fuckin point dumb ass . he made a robotic arm because he likes to build robots obviously and just wants to test it out . so think before your dumb ass retarded ass speaks !!!!!

  • lmao SelfX86!

  • whats the big deal? I could've placed that tire on the box in less than a second...

  • It´s lego duh! everythin is coller when its lego!

  • haha agreed

  • thank you for that comment .

  • its sooooo...cute...:3

  • I'm pretty sure when it says SONT PSP (play station portable) it means a PSP controlls it :D Its an upgrade or software you can upload to the psp with a game cartridge and control it via Wi-Fi

  • what do u mean controlled by a psp

  • that was great!

  • Thats impressiv! btw is the claw air driven?

(im swedish so my english aint top notch ^^ )

  • How'd you get a PSP to control it? Did you just put a program into the PSP, or something else?

  • Awesome!

The idea of using the light sensor to control the RCX through the NXT is very good. I used it too in some of my earlier projects. The arm's design is very good, and the integration of the RCX motors in a Studless structre is just fine ;D

    Goog work there man =D

(And sorry about my english, it sucks)

  • Thanks! I hope to do another arm some day. By the way, your English is just fine!

  • You can also use the NXT/RCX communication bridge(by mindsensers) for communication between the NXT and RCX

  • big and clumbsy. good work though

  • it's not clumsy it's just slow it works just fine, and like you can make a better one? I don't think so.

  • Now just make it so the claw gets a beer and open it [vodka and other hard liquors are good too]

  • That would make it really cool! :D

  • FEAR THE CLAW BITCH!

  • cool man!!

  • The PSP has Bluetooth capabilities?

  • Nope. I used the InfraRed option on the PSP. Check out my website for more info on this. The RCX can receive IR signals...

  • Amazing, not just in building the arm but controlling it.

  • now try to make it automathic add a camera to do this.. can u do that?

  • now try throwing the ball

  • wow

  • wow, impressive

  • Good job :)

  • i like dese cause u can make a robot and arm and scorpion and whatever you want, just sucks with the anoying sound and the legos but w/e

  • nice way to use the old and new kits

  • How did you control the NXT Computer Brick?

  • The PSP sends messages to the pre-programmed RCX. The RCX sends signals to the NXT through a light sensor by switching the led light on and off. More information about that can be found in the programs. (On my website)

  • better tahn my arm (?)

  • wow thats fuckin amazing im gonna get one and program it to give me a decent hand job

  • no they are pnumatic (air) hoses. I own that set.

  • cool man are those like hydrolic hoses on the wrist part of it?

  • that is cool

  • How do you get two boxes to work together?

  • poor Limpfittz. dont make fun of him , he only got one arm , btw can u drive a car with only 1 arm. oh and have fun spinning your wrist

  • The only reason Limpfittz can't record is because he doesn't have a robotic arm to record. On the other hand, I can't even build one, so I really have no room to talk.

  • VERY NICE :D

  • Lol wie geht das ????

  • omg i cant understand how comlicated this machine is! 5 stars! u either got too much sparetime or u got a great brain!

  • poor.. seen much better (i can build one much better) the only thing i liked was the "shoulder" part..

  • I'd like to see your robot arm then.

  • Can't record /: but i actullay have a much better arm with "body, shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist and hand" and every part can move 180 degrees, (except elbow, it turns 90, and wrist, it turns 360 degrees!1)

  • I dont see why people insult other peoples work.

good for you IF you did build a better one, but none cares, if you record it then show maby people will like it but its BS to trash talk other peoples work expesily when you cant show your own.

  • No need to be a dick and insult people. Post your robot arm or keep your mouth shut. It's not a competition - it's a video.

  • i like you sister ;)

  • dude nice

  • moi bueno

  • bueno
