Your middle tenor drone is flopping around. This makes it harder to wrestle the octopus while your playing. Adjust your drone cords so that your drones are positioned properly.
A bold first attempt playing publicly when you haven't completely mastered the instrument yet. You REALLY need to practice embellishments (gracenotes, doublings, grips, tarlouaths, throws on d's, birls.) Sit at home and play each exercise very slowly on chanter. About 10 minutes on each exercise a night would do wonders. Sit at home and do some slow exercises in time with a steady beat from your foot. And make sure to play tunes slow when you first get them. Then you can improve from this time.
Fortunately for this fellow he lives in a culture, in which saving face, and preserving the face others is paramount to the function of their society. Far be it for me...I think he would benefit from a softer chanter reed, he's obviously working it. The drones are very quiet also. Despite the deficits --- His concentration is good and a decent repetoire.
well done it takes a lot of time and effort to get where you are, try to listen to other pipers and cds so you can get to tune and play as they do,i think you may need to slow things down a wee bit all the best james
Mr. Higashi, I applaud your efforts. It seems that all the people who are criticle of your video forgot that they too were there once. Nervousness has made many a piper play too fast. It is by doing the task that one gets better. Keep playing and keep making videos, WE all can learn from someone else.
Hello there, By the way i really love you outfit kilt etc, I agree with Highland piper, you should try to find yourself a tutor, if you cannot get a tutor try a dvd tutor, this will help with tuning your pipes etc, also it's better to play an easy tune great than to play a harder tune badly, all the best with your piping , Piper60.
It takes a lot of bravery to get up and play in front of people and he may have got a little nervous. I have only been playing for 4years but I have been told to stick with basic tunes played at a comfortable pace and most importantly stay on the beat. You can always improve doublings but staying on the beat will sound musical... keep playing, well done
mmmm Ok I am starting with my piping but it is really important to fierst play a tune slowly and WELL and then start to play it faster !!! I Thing We piper we are a big family all around the world and there we are to help us each other!!!!
well hes a real tryer and may be learning himself,im a piper learning to play a low whistle i can tell whats right and how the whistle is surposed to sound by watching and listening other players on you tube or cd,s but well done you have you must have put in a lot of effort
He would of been better off to just play Scotland the brave in an pick High Road or something. People in general want to hear what they know. STB being one of them. Amazing Grace another. This will not leave a good impression with these people.
You obviously have had some sort of piping education because you have clearly set ideas on the embellishments, and I know bagpipes are just about the most difficult instrument to learn and play. You should, however, not be attempting tunes like "Steam Train to Mallaig" or "Glasgow City Police Pipers" in your early stage in your piping career. If you don't have a bagpipe teacher, please get one. Your high level of enthusiasm combined with a teacher will make you into a great piper!
please practice! bagpipes are an instrument that need to be mastered on the practice chanter before playing the actual instrument.
as everyone else has said.. you need to W O R K on your embellishments, throws, strikes, tachums, grips, etc, etc.

Yes, to play slow is my important subject.
higashinagasaki 3 years ago
1) tune your pipes
2) dont rush things, play slow and clear. I always say to my students to play slowly and in rythm.
3) dont choose hard tunes like Steam Train yet. Stick with some easy 3/4 and slow marches until you improve your fingering.
Rebelpipers 3 years ago 2
Thank you very much.
I effort to basic fingering.

It's not music, it's mashed potatoes !
The pipes are not tuned,
There is no ryhtm
You are playing too fast
Your playing has no personality, even if you're dressed (disguised) in Scotsman.

Thank you for comment about the pride of Scotsman.I will take care that.

I have a tutor in Japan. He says same things as these all comments.
But he says that March and Slow air has not so big problem in lesson playing.
The big probem is in jig.

And many coments are good help for me.

This is a good example of what NOT to do! He should of tuned and fixed his ropes. And who knows what the tunes were. Stick with the basics.

Hi my friend!
I will send you an video i made specialy for you!
It´s very important to tune the pipe before playing puplic!
Ok after some minutes you have to tune again but the basic will be made!
It will sound much better when your pipe is in tune!
Keep up the good work!
