Classic shit right here!!! This takes real skill right here. Now I see kids pressing cue point buttons fast thinkin its dope. Do some stabs/ forward skratching techniques to make that sound instead of pressing a button!
which is why qbert goes on long trip's too place's far away where no ones hear of mc shan youguys need to make your own samples and learn of other people's music but not use it inyour set and then exepect too make any money off of it. it just will not work.
ARGHH I love q-bert so much he's fucking amazing, and I'm sixteen and know that These guys are gods? I dont think age has anything to do with realizing how amazing these guys are
the thunderbirds countdown bit must of took a lot of practice! judging where each number is played and doing it forwards, backwards, at different speeds and doing it so precise,, it's incredible
i agree when people say tiesto is the best dj, because to me a dj is a guy who puts a needle on a record. these guys are turntablists, as babu put it.
Its evident why these guys were not allowed to compete anymore. Their skillz are just amazing! Anyone who claims to love hip-hop (real hip-hop) and disses the Piklz are not true fans of Hip-Hop.
I've always wanted to know what mixer that is that they're using, the closest guess I have is that it's a technics 2ch old school type but I have no idea. Does anyone know what the DMC standard was back then?
most of the viewers are too young to know, the rest dont realize what these guys brought to scratching. its evident by the comments I see on these various videos
i love the bit with the thunderbirds countdown at 1min 20 secs. i have got this on video cassettte but it has snapped from being overplayed. now i'm gonna ware out my pc watchin it over and over again. lol
This routine shows definitely the beggining of Turntablism. The second routine (mixmaster mike and q @ dmc finals, defending title set)is not so musical but shows scratching techniques that the rest of the djs will use years later. Fades, early orbits and that was the first time i saw a dj doing a CRAB! :)
my mom knew his mom when she lived in daly city. she said when he was a kid he was fat and always dj 'd just like me =] im 14 and i wanna meet him soo bad. the closest thing i have is an autographed record from him =[
That first routine was waaaay better than the second. To tell you the truth, I've never really been a fan of that second routine. Q and Mike were restricted, by the absence of Apollo, who was unable to be a part of the competition that year, due to music production commitments. Consequently, the routine wasn't as musical as the previous year's.
This has been flagged as spam show
is many ways q was better then than now the way i see it.
i think he kind of peakd at around 2001.
