Beczala could not sing Mozart 2003 and 8 years later not either. He is an excellent Alfredo or Edgardo but his technique is not appropriate for Mozart.

Fortunately, I have heard far better talent at Curtis and Peabody.

Make no mistake, Piotr Beczala is indeed one of the most promising young tenors around, particularly in this repertoire, and his singing can be absolutely unique.

But there is no doubt that this rendition of Ach wie ängstlich is flawed - obiously a poor day, maybe he was sick or tired or whatever...

Even the most brilliant singers are but human beings ;-)

Scout boy?? This is easily the strongest young tenor on the stage today. Just watch and observe this man take your socks off in the years to come. It is always amazing what kinds of comments some people leave (I would not be surprised if there were a below-the-belt response). Very good rendition.

I have to agree with you to a degree, however, comparing anyone to Wunderlich in this capacity is a bit unfair. Fritz was and probably will be streets ahead of anyone singing Mozart as long as this repertoire is performed!

Piotr Beczala lässt wieder einen Funken Hoffnung entstehen, dass wir in diesem Jahrhundert vielleicht noch eine Tenorstimme hören können, die zumindest annähernd an die von Fritz Wunderlich gesetzten Maßstäben heranreicht.

Großartig! Dieser Stimmklang erinnert an Fritz Wunderlich, auch wenn dieser Vergleich langweilt ... Ich empfehle von Beczala: "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz" - wunderbar!
