OMG Matt Bush!!!!!!!! PETEY FROM BULLY!! AAHHHH I am freaking out right now!! IT's Petey!! OMG! I had no idea and seen this commercial so many times! OMG FANGIRL MOMENT!!!!!!!!!!!
this one was my least favorite, no one should be bitchey to nieghbors, theres too much of that allready, lets not portray that over and over..She totally redeamed herself in the newest one though.
These commercials with the nutzy mom are lame. I find it hard to believe AT&T can't find a better way to sell their wares. No wonder the stock price is down. Time to try a new ad series.
You know, I know we're supposed to side with the mom her by buying the phone plan, but every time I see one of these commercials, the actress is so freaking over the top that I just end up thinking the mom's insane.
I also had a problem with this ad at first with the kid at the end. It just din't sit well with me but I really think that the reason they went with that young actor is not because he is black but because of that hilarious eye expression thing he does. btw the older boy actor is Matt Bush
Racism, hmmm. Im black and I thought the commercial was hillarious. I think, in general, an adult would respect another adult, especially an elder (as the first woman inquiring about the minutes was), moreso than a kid of any race. Additionally, the mom wasnt there initially when the older customer picked up one of the minute clocks, the nonchalant son was - he didnt care. Fundamentally, I think you have an overly frugal mom trying save every penny she could in a bad economy.
I'm black and when people start claiming racism in something like that it makes us look bad. When I first heard it, someone claimed racism or racial tentions in the commercial I started laughing. Let's get real people.
I'm black and I felt the racial tension there but I think that we should be cool . I mean she had that attitude toward the son and the old lady. If she would've said, something like "You especially can't have my minutes" then it would've been much diff. But the mom's role was to be a b!aaatch. She couldnt help it...but on to other things. I betcha nobody noticed the big round beautiful brown pants walking away at the very very beginning of the commercial. Who ever she was, she was sexy
There wasnt racial tension! The old lady wanted minutes and she wouldn't let her have any, so why are people saying that just because that kids not white theres racial tension!
I'm not saying there was ABSOLUTELY racial tension, just saying that it can be surmised if you look thru a black perspective at how angry/bitchy the lady was. It just makes u think why did they choose a black kid? Commercials are pretty picky about details, just makes u think. I ain't bout to call Jessie or Al S. lol. Just saying I can see why ppl think their might be some tension
In absolutly no way was racial tension meant in this commercial. Every time black people make fun of white people we don't start saying theres racial tension. If they picked a mexican kid you wouldn't be saying that. Maybe they figured there were to many caucasions in this commerical and they needed to add a different race because America is a country filled with people from ALL OVER THE WORLD! And maybe they picked that kid because he was a GOOD ACTOR! Ever think of that?
lol 1st, ur first line repeats what I said. 2nd off, if it was a mexican kid, I would think to same, b.c it's obvious how most "true" americans feel about mexicans and/or illegal immigrants. 3rd, they have commercials where it's all black ppl all white ppl, all mexicans, all asians but my question is jus what made them decide to use a black kid. I'm not saying it's wrong and I'm not asking your opinion of why they chose a black kid, I'm just curious what's THEIR answer.
What if they picked a black old lady? and a White little boy. This is just absolutly not what the phone company intended makin g this commercial. The goal for this commercial was to sell a phone! You are looking for problems.
I'm not looking for problems but ppl tend to always except what's on the surface and never ask questions.I like to ask questions to the point of curiosity not to the point of paranoia and conspiracy theories that EVERYONE IS OUT TO GET THE BLACK MAN...If it was a black women being bitchy to a white kid then I would still say the same. But I wouldn't THINK she was racist. NOW u mite say it's contradictory BUT I also don't THINK this white women in the commercial is racist either. That's the thing
I've thought of a lot of things But that's a simple minded answer. Most ppl would think that. Advertising is far from simple minded. They took time to think of who, why, so on and so forth...And as far as white ppl being made fun and not calling racial tension. everybody has feelings and I can take a joke but when u experience racism and the effects from 400yrs of slavery, then maybe u'll think twice about most things as well.B.c contrary to believe racism is still alive, they jus reconcealin it
I am an actress in commercials and trust me, that is not what goes on in the process. They think about who they will cast, they don't say "ooh lets cause racial tension" With the aditude you have, you will continue to be a person who looks for problems where they are not.
If you are anywhere in Santa Cruz County, you better have Verizon or your not gonna be talking to anybody. You can look at the pictures on your iphone but dont expect to actually have PHONE service.
i dont get it. wouldn't sellling the minutes be better than saving them, if you're trying to be conscientious with your money? im assuming they're "unused" for a reason.
DOES no one else in the world see raschial (sic) make fun of blacks humour at 0m17s? I cringe everytime I watch this ad on actual television, cuz the Mom is a white yuppie and the black kid is a little chunky and a dumb expression. Cmt me back.
I agree. I've always found the commercial racist. When the older white lady wants to buy the minutes she says they are not for sale, but when the black kid tries to buy them she tells him to beat it, or leave completely.
I totally came to the same conclusion. Also if you really look, she was so concerned with telling the black kid to "beat it," that she completely didn't realize that the white lady stole the minute that she picked up at the beginning of the commercial.
RACIST!!!! Call the racism police, quick! LOL! JK! Its not racist but its fucking hilarious!!!! i hate these at&t commercials so much that its fucking hilarious! doesnt anyone agree? its so fuckin stupid that its funny to laugh at, i especially hate the mom and how fucking retarded she is!!!
You people need to STFU about this being racist, racist would be not having a black person at all. Also it was a yard sell, he wasn't trying to steal them.
BTW I love the look on the old ladys face after the mom tells him to beat it lol.
1957kathyalford, I was thinking the very same thing! I've tried to google the answer, but no luck so far. But I remember the older actress from shows and commercials in the 70's and 80's and I'm sure the woman is her daughter and the young man is her grandson. Each of them have similar features, especially the eyes. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw a family resemblance.
To be honest, I think these commercials are kind of funny. I know that when I get on to my kids about wasting money I can get pretty aggrivated. It just kind of makes me laugh when I see moms portrayed like this, because in all honesty, most mothers do this from time to time. As far as her being racist, I think we have more important things to concern ourselves with. We're all people and our color or nationality should not matter. He was just a kid trying to steal her minutes!:D LOL!
when i saw it, it didnt look like the black kid was stealing it. it just looked like he happened to find an unbelievably great deal. it would be like if he was at a yard sale and found a copy of some hard to find sega dreamcast game for $2.
I noticed weeks ago that mom and son look exactly alike, THEN I notice The old lady trying to buy the minutes looks EXACTLY like the mom!! Can anybody tell me if they are all related and if the mom is also the older lady. At first I thought it HAS to be her real mother, but I'm not sure....
The reason I am even looking this up on line is because I also thought either the same actress was the lady and the mother or they were actually related. Good casting! I think these commercials are ingenious.
racist!? god people are stupid, she wouldnt sell them to the old white lady either. It's a commercial for god sakes, so what if they used a black kid, if the family was black and the kid was white noone would probably say anything.
But the point wasn't to have a black family. The point was to use a white family. you think it was just "chance" that she only used overt force when it was taken from a little black boy. It would do people good to really think about the crap that shoved in their face day to day. Commercials don't sell products anymore..they sell lifestyles. Using psychological and sociological studies in doing so. Bottom line: Ain't crap random about this commercial. ATT knew JUST what they were doing.
I hightly doubt that ATT would put their reputation on the line and risk offending people purposefully and stand to lose millions of customers. Maybe she used force for the fact that he is a child as opposed to a senior citizen. The thought had never even crossed my mind about the kid being black until I read these comments as I'm sure is the case for most people. I thought society was past the black/white era but I am sadly mistaken.
^^^IMO people pointing out the fact that he is black tells me people dont view him as an equal otherwise there would be no need for this discussion.^^^
I totally agree with you. When I saw this commercial I wondered if anyone would say something about race. I looked it up, and sure enough they do. I think it's sad when people aren't looked upon as people, but as a color. I just wanted to thank you for your comment!
i agree its just a stupid retarded commercial that gets worse and worse as days go by. i get the idea. the idea is not 2 waste your minutes, try 2 save what u can. its got nothing 2 do with racism whatsoever. why a lot of people take a lot of things out of context is just as retarded as this commercial itself.
I think that the blonde woman who has a cow over the rollover minutes is the same woman who plays Elliot's wife on "Law & Order: SVU". Can anyone confirm this please?
it isn't, elliot's wife is played by isabel gillies. but they do look alike. the son in this commercial is actually on an episode of criminal intent though.
Does anyone notice how much the older woman and the mom look like the same person? My husband thinks I pay too much attention to commercials but I think it's fun to catch the little "jinx" they put in there. Did any of you catch the Jack in the Box commercial with the "Resident of the United States"?
omg this kid is SO HOT... (just saw his name is matt bush)... reminds me of an old boyfriend that i still miss! don't even know what it IS about him but i predict he'll be a well-known actor in the future! hi matt!
yeah actually I looked the commercial up because of him. .he's fucking CUTE, his facial expressions and his dark eyes and hair.. he's so fucking cute, looks like an ex of mine also.

I think the older woman is actually Matt Bush. Does anyone else notice this?

This commercial is weird, If i was her I would have sold the minutes to make money instead of save money.
Hapyro721 3 years ago
I would have sold the kids for a few bucks.

Does anyone notice how much the older woman and the mom look like the same person? My husband thinks I pay too much attention to commercials but I think it's fun to catch the little "jinx" they put in there. Did any of you catch the Jack in the Box commercial with the "Resident of the United States"?

Never mention the fact that they spam your phone, then charge you for it. One of the many reasons I stopped using AT&T.
AT&T also doesn't like telling the public that they assisted in funding Hitler's rise to power. JP Morgan/Chase, and IBM helped Hitler as well.
Welcome to Amerika.

yea. i dont think he was trying to steal them. youre racist.
aznbomb834 3 years ago
I think it's funny how they had a black kid trying to steal them.
Hazorxz 3 years ago
Where do you get stealing from when he said "Oh cool!", and reached in to pick one up when the older white woman basically did the same thing.

I think it's funny how racist idiots like you try to twist everything around to suit your backwoods, redneck opinions.
