  • It can't be played at anything lower than full volume!!

  • Athough I don't understand the language, I prefer them singing in Faroese :)

  • Cool!

  • demn it sounds lot like metallica O_O

  • @deathandveryalive It does not sound like metallica

  • my favorite song from Týr, hail from iceland your northen borther

  • WTF? Why is this video in the related section to a deadmau5 video ?

  • How did I not know about this song? Wow! I've been missing out.

  • I am proud to be a faroese citizen :p

  • I have been listening to that intro over and over for about an hour. Very metal!

  • This is THE EXACT tune as Regin Smidur---Still awesome though!

  • @Surielis only the intro

  • if you did understand faroese you vould like ormurin langi no doudt about it i am faroese

  • very good vocals. sound like Jaymz.

  • @sobienick no it fuckin doesnt

  • the best band in europe is in fare ilands the name is the dreams

  • @19121996martin jeeeeesus

  • @19121996martin the dreams suck balls, they are emo and a disgrace for the Faroe Islands

    learn to spell

  • @berserkur19 I am sorry i didnt write that its an idiot from my class that did it. I hate the dreams too. They suck

  • I ... Love.....Nordic....Viking....Metal!!!

I do really belong to this kind of music!

    TYR FOREVER!!!

  • The start is the same melody as in Regin Smiður... so I really wonder where the melody comes from... if not Týr has made it from the beginning by themselves?..

  • TYR god of warriors haev snothing to do with ancestry but mIND --

  • @Metaldrummer100 This isn't from RS. RS is from this. This came first, and they thought "Hey, what a badass intro, let's use it for RS as well".

  • @HerbredMadness Yes, excuse me sir but I didn't say RS came first, did I? Haha... man I said it is the same as RS.

    Have a good day!

  • @Metaldrummer100 the melody is from Regin Smiður yes, Týr didnt make the melody for Regin Smiður, its an old traditional faroese ballad

  • @Metaldrummer100 The melody is a folk ballad from the place they live!

  • every time I hear Tyr, I feel like I belong with this music

I guess it's my Nordic ancestry coming out

  • @Valcarion

Almost all europeans and europeans descendants in the new continent have celtic, scandinavian and slavic roots. That must be why you like TYR.

  • @hackforloser Well, thanks for the info, I guess

Do you feel smarter or better about yourself, now that you've "proven me wrong", or whatever you just did?

I don't understand why you thought you needed to say anything about a comment I posted 4 months ago.

Must've been to fuel your ego, hope it worked for ya.

  • @Valcarion haha, tht made me laugh. Good work [=

  • listen to there new album By The Light Of The Northern Star it's good i love it!!

  • krijg

  • Tyr is epic. I see them anytime they come to the US/Canada/Germany (Mostly Germany. Only there for half a year.)

  • Tyr is a band from the Faroe Islands in the far north Atlantic. They have a unique language related to Old Norse. Tyr play Faroese folk songs and sagas to a rock accompaniement. They also do original songs of their own composition. They are very popular in Europe. They have not yet toured the US and are known in the US mainly thru YouTube.

  • They have toured in the US. I am not sure of the exact number of times, but I know they have toured at least twice. I live in the US and I saw them about a year ago.

  • I've seen Tyr 3 Times at Blondies in Detroit, Michigan. Once near the end of 2008, once in 2009 and I just saw them again January 11th.

  • Yes, the have toured. They toured with Ensiferum and Paganfest 2008 and are touring right now with Korpiklaani. They were here another time but I am not sure with what band. Tyr kick asss!!

  • the second tour, called Pagan Knights, they were headlining with support from Alestorm and Suidakra :D

  • @robert3302 they have toured,3 times i think

  • never heard this stuff before but cool

  • You've got to be kidding me.. That is not fucking James Hetfield.. This is the first time I've heard of this band and I can distinguish that..

  • the song that i heard was sinklars visa

  • Yeah, their first album had a different singer.

  • Who else hears Christmas carols when they listen to parts of this song?

I'm reminded of both 'Jolly Old Saint Nicholas' and 'Carol of the Bells'.

  • lol, it's prolly that folky sound hahaha

  • Check out,,,MenHir-Pagan lord....

  • One of Tyr's best songs. Their recent stuff is really not to my liking.....

  • "God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay", anyone...?

  • seems that way =|

  • lol yeah! pretty much it is!

  • Regin Smidur is similar too. As far as I can find, that tune is an old Norse melody which was just Christianized because it was so popular.

  • C'est très bon !!

  • yee TYR is soooo Geil! fett olta echt fett! ^^

i love TYR and the Band is so sexy ;D haha

  • great song!!! hail our noble gods!!! hail odin father of all gods and men!!!

  • Fookin' love Týr, btw. :D

  • Shame that Pól Arni left the band. He has an awesome voice. Heri is also very good, though.

  • I don't like Pol

  • It is a shame, I prefer his voice to Heri.

  • I prefer Heri than Pól, but I think they both have fantastic voices. :>

  • just a thought, what if Tyr resang their old songs with Heri on the vocals? (they already did that with hail to the hammer, but what about the others?)

  • I'm sure, that How Far To Asgaard realesed in 2008 is the same as previous version, so I beileve, that only "Hail to the Hammer" was sang by Heri on their albums. But maybe I am wrong. On concerts they are singing new and old ones with Heri vocals. I know, because I heard it. ;)

  • i know that the re-release is just the original versions (i should know, i have it).

    it was just an idea

  • It was great idea. ;) I'm sute, that they will release new versions of old songs, just wait. ;) I think "Ormurin Langi" was in one of their old CDs and now there's version with Heri's vocals.

  • How far to asgard had their original lead vocalist on it.... eric the red , Ragnarok & land all have heri joenson on lead vocals on them

  • Pol Arni Holm already did a pretty good job there... I like Heri's singing a lot too, but I think Holm's voice has a something that makes the music sound more raw, and less "hey guys let's sound epic".

  • I think, that Heri's vocal is better than Holm's one. But first Týr's songs I've heard was with Heri, so maybe I'm just conditioned to his voice.

  • this is a badass song

  • Hail Týr!

  • nice video hail týr...............

  • This song is mind-blowing!

    Hail Tyr!

  • and why didn't you give credits to the Midgard, where the picture is from

  • Because I am a terrible, terrible person...

  • and what was the first message?

  • I have two accounts. One, this one, is just for music. The other is for more creative videos. The other message was accidently under the name of my other account. That one is called Tomhetisgut2. This video is from the Tomhetistgut3 account, so I wanted to respond to you with that name. The first message was the same thing, just under the wrong name.

  • :'(

  • i was joking lol

  • weirdo-

You can hide behind a computer, but in real life you are still a fucking pussy.

I'd beat your ass if you walked in my lane.

  • Total contradiction there.
