He could have chosen to make his music, live his life and count the cash. The crazy thing is, people would have given him a lot less grief about it! Whatever you think of him, no one can deny that he is trying to make a difference by "spending the currency of celebrity wisely". Look at what most celebrities do with their money and influence and you'll see that Bono chose the right path, and well done him. "It may be a drop in the ocean, but the ocean is made of tiny drops". Mother Theresa.
Thank you very much! I can understand why so many people hold a negative view of Bono, but I have always felt differently. I admire his stoic refusal not to just "shut up and sing". When I see him give a speeh, there's such a depth of passion and sincerity in his rhetoric that I genuinely believe that he means what he says. Otherwise, he would fade back into the background of an easy life. I know that he's definitely inspired me to put my fist in the air & believe in "vision over visibility".
I like Bono, I'm a U2 fan since ever but i don't like these kind of hollywood people showing their will to help. I don't believe in their goodwill - this stupid word celebrity bores me. Bono doesn't need these 'stars' to show up because they only want to appear in the photo! Africa problems can only be resolved with political measures, presidents goodwill and our annonymous contributions!!!
Agree, its like when a celebrety buys a hybrid car, every celebrity buys one, there traing to say "look at me , i boght a stupid car witch doesnt polut" a renault clio diesel polutes less than a hybrid...
I find that its hard to get a pic with jus Alison Stewart alone!!!....cos she's always with her hubby Paul Hewson...but i've got like 2 or 3 jus her alone but its always a side-look or taken frm a angle...its not a clear full look....
Soooo pls any1....if u hv pics of Ali pls send me a msg...
No offense, but Bono's got like $1000000000000000000000, why don't he and other rich celebrities donate a large chunk of their money instead of asking us working class folk. Just like that crap Idol Give Back...Seacrest, why don't you give back, you're rich. Ugh, celebrities annoy me when they ask us to give our money away when they've got millions to spare. btw, not saying that I don't support charities. I just hate when celebrities shove it down our throats all the time ughhhhhh.
Why should those who have worked hard for their money and been successful by working there arses off have to give away everything? It's not up to just the minority to give up their hard earned cash. Exactly tommy, these people with money are doing a lot more by creating awareness of the problem and helping those with the power to actually change things long term. Live 8 = no one had to pay for tickets.
i find myself saying this, and i don't like it one bit. Why is Bono engaging in this behaviour? I know about Africa, I am surrounded by it everyday, This isn't helping anyone, this clothes line won't affect a change. Give up the clothes line and choose another way, *B*. Thumbs down.
Thats a very narrowminded way of looking at the situation. You are expecting to find a Single solution to the issues in Africa, one blanket strategy that will remedy a complex divergence of problems? THAT wont solve anything: by trying to tackle everything with 'one' approach (pardon the pun), you miss everything. I think exactly what is needed is a network of different solutions approaching from multiple angles, but sharing a common goal; Bonos is one plan among many. Every little bit helps.
He's an admitted Meglomaniac; do you think that comes with an on/off switch? ie; He chose Africa exactly BECAUSE it is unsavable. He is the PT Barnum of Rock n Roll. He is THE Pop Icon for Political Correctness.
How do you know for sure? Maybe he chose africa 'cause he can't see poornes anymore. I can't stand opinions like yours. Are you sick of helping? Maybe you'r not a human. Leave Bono alone. I got two tees. The white and the black one.
So he did nothing? That's so silly. Maybe everyone forgot things he already did as well as everybody wouldn't mind Bermuda triangle and it's solution. I'm sick that this world remember only sorrow and injustice and the
many bad things hangin' 'round. When somebody WITH NAME come out and try just to solve, everybody ready to point. Talking about words. But he has been there. He knows the problem even more then we can only imagine. He's not a Meglaomaniac. He's fu*kin good mega- ~father, ~husband and ~frontman of the best ~band ever. I don't think it, friend... i can feel it. That's the point.
If you buy a "Music Rising" t-shirt to support Edge's effort for Gulf coast Katrina-affected musicians, you will see it was made in Africa through Edun. "We get to carry each other."
once upon a time i fell in love with bono and u2; the more i see of Ali, the more in love i am with her in a non-sexual admiring way. She truly is the inspiration behind U2, a sultry goddess in her right.
I think if Jesus was to come back today - he'd be a lot like Bono!!!
And there are people who can't stand Bono too! Just like the Man Himself!
and isn't Ali gorgeous? I met her when I was 18 at a U2 concert and she was just the most gracious and lovely person - she stood and chatted to my friend and I and was just so nice. Great ambassadors for my homeland!

Watch my video. It's about Earth changes.
Continental Drift: One huge supercontinent, became 2 continents, then 5 (or 6) continents, and then?
I wonder, does climate change can affect global economy growth?

I'm sure he does give money. But wasn't the point of his campaigns to pressure Governemtns around the world to give more money and drop debts?
