Dear Kathleen Hanna, if for any reason Adam Yausch dies in an unfortunate hit and run I will give you my address info so we can hook up and I can marry you and have many riot girl babies with you. Sincerley, all men who grew up in the 90's.
I wish we had gotten more context here. Her answers do seem to contradict each other - in one, she's a straighforward atheist, in another, she's pomo religious. I don't think she's necessarily confused - to damn her with faint praise, she's obviously one of the smartest people in the music industry - but since we don't hear what the interviewer's asking or even Kathy might have said off-camera, we don't know the frame for each answer. So it comes out all confused.
I am still wondering how the reality of a godless universe and one where he/she/it actually exist both make sense in her mind without creating a major contradiction... "There is no God" / "It's that thing that when you're really freaked out makes you not kill yourself" So I figured you should either think there is a God or there isn't one but doublethink is possible and has solved that timeless doubt for this person! :)
@bladedrummer00 i think what she meant is that people can put their faith into god, &believe it/she/he exists, which makes them feel better; but at the same time there is no living, breathing god. god is like an abstract concept, nothing solid. I think i know what shes saying- but its really confusing to explain. at the same time, im not 100% sure what she was getting at- thats just how i interpreted it.
Agreed Jess. And on that note- I'm gonna go cow tippin' later tonite, that is after I drink&drive on the way to the farm while blasting "Cop Killer" on 11. Or am I? Who knows really, because you guys certainly aren't in my bedroom right now with me to find out.
this video's neat anyway. and just incase some idiot w/o a sense for sarcasm takes my comment seriously- to keep on topic, I wish I had means to connect my vcr to my cpu. I have a bunch of random old BK clips on vcr I'd love to up. :(
There's good and bad energy. If you go to graveyards you can feel it especially those who died in horrific ways. There's def. energy but there is no actual "God" with human like features and stuff..that's just man being arrogant. All the prophets were Man Men and God was their alter ego basically
No. I feel what I feel because its true. Energy exists. There is this place in Houston where you park your car and the "spirits" tap on the windows. It's the scariest shit I have witnessed.
Would/do you feel the same thing while standing on a native american burialground?
Still, if this type of energy exists, wouldn't you feel it everywhere? There's a good probability that a living creature have died in the vicinity of wherever you go! and lot's of them.
No, energy can be one place and not another. Its not a tangible thing obviously. I don't see your point of argument. This whole video is about God and as you can see above thats what I am discussing. The energy thing is something I believe in and if you don't want to or are scared to thats your choice.
I respect your believes, but they just don't make any sense to me.
If you feel this "bad energy" at graveyards, tell me why you don't feel it anywhere else a living creature has died? If it is because you are aware that dead beings resides there, then it's just psychological. (In my opinion)
I feel bad energy a lot of places. I feel it in people. Energy can transfer anywhere. I was giving a graveyard as a example thats all..don't hang on to every word. Okay? Its pretty simple energy is out there good & bad..if you don't believe it then don't. But I have witnessed paranormal things and thats that. It doesn't get more elementary than that.
Also all this is pretty subjective! None of us are experts. NO ONE really knows the actual "truth". If you are looking for Objectivity go read an Ayn Rand book and leave it at that!

i think its interesting that since the advent of modern psychology, there hasn't been anyone claiming to hear god speak to them, and people taking it seriously...like Muhammad and Moses were just schizos or something
Cause and effect is probably an effective way to understand God.
when we do good deeds, in the least expected moment we ll receive something good.
And when we dwindle into wrongdoings, in the least expected moment we ll receive a negative effect back due to our tipping the scale of good & bad with negative action
The comprehension of God is progressive. The more good deeds he sees us do, the more knowledge and wisdom he'll deposit in our hearts for us to articulate into good actions
But how do you know you actually exist? Maybe we're all just stuck in this pendulem of a millenium...Then when we die, Everything resets and evolution re-occurs. Maybe that's why we can't figure out what started the world, Because it's been erased and we are the restoration to just be erased and then to be restored once more.
Oh! It means so much comming from someone so interested in cars :)
I'm glad you've contributed your imput, But I would be much happier if you capitalized the beginning of your sentance while trying to call someone else an idiot. Maybe it's time to go back to grade school.
Someone who calls another person an idiot for bringing up a philosophical topic is an idiot, because they obviously have no comprehension of what philosophy is.
I don't expect you to reply, what I just said was pretty philosophical, and you've already proven that you have no idea of what philosophy is ;)
Human beings have to evolve past this irrational belief and need for a God figure. Just because we cannot, at this point, explain our own existence doesn't mean we have to believe a patriarchal daddy figure in the sky waved a magic wand and created everything.
And some people just need to let it be - cause not everyone is not going to accept the fact that "Human beings have to evolve past this irrational belief and need for a God figure."
If it brings out the good in some people, then it can't be all bad. But likewise, if you're expecting people to think like you, it ain't gonna happen.
but if you need some external reason to feel that you should be good, you haven't moved beyond childhood development in which your motivations are influenced by a parent or fear of punishment.
