I was 35 when I first got sick and had not been feeling well for several months, but I just thought it was because I was out of shape and getting older? In September 2008 I had a bronchioscopy done after some very questionable x-rays and was diagnosed with a Non specific interstitial lung disease (NSILD) in March of 2009 I was sent in for an open lung biospy and was told I had IPF.... I live in N.C. and have been to Duke, I hope to get on the list after I lose more weight... you give me hope!
I too had IPF. Was diagnosed officially in 2007. Had a lung biopsy in January of '07 to confirm the diagnosis. It came out of nowhere. The part you mentioned in the video about it being a "sneaky little thing" is so true. It's amazing to me how unknown the disease is to the general public.
The good news is I had a double-lung transplant at Vanderbilt on July 3, 2008 and I am doing well. God has blessed and we are very grateful for His provision.
