An other last thing about that song : it sound so emotional, so sad, so deep..., so much sadness, lonelyness, feeling of eternal loss inside, like a vertigo without an end
- I was listening that song in one my worst period of life..., it always like that, when you are in a special mood, you are always in resonance outside yourself with the accurate energy inside you in every particular moment...and when you are sad...generaly...you are looking and listening some sad things, sad musics...
I really followed them when I was a teenager until '' The unforgatable Fire ''
After, I let them '' because '' they sounded to Pop for me, even If Brian ENO - the fifth musician in the band...- IS A REAL GENIUS !!!
- For me, the Unforgatable Fire sound more a Brian ENO album of that time - everyone has to listen THE PEARL, a 1984 Brian ENO' s disc and eveyone will understand what I am talking about...
About that special song right here '' TOMORROW '', for sure, IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES
I listened to this song repeatedly, but not always. I saught to forget. Deluged with distraction. Chemical. Physical. Sorrowful. yet the refrain to "believe".....kept me alive....
oh and by the way ...."Larry Mullen Jnr." is the "Best" drummer in the world ...and most underated " and I grew up with a drummer" ...I say Larry's the best
You know you've been listening to too much vintage U2 when your 7 year old starts singing "won't you come back tomorrow, won't you come back tomorrow, won't you come back tomorrow" at the deli counter in A&P...sheesh. Though I did have a good laugh to myself.
1st Time At The Paradise back in ? 79 ? I and my brothers spread the word of U~2 Back when there was no MTV. Oldest bro turned on to U~2 Single A 45rpm record that had Out of Control & I Will Follow..Gloria GLORIA WOW The stories I could tell in streets of Boston.Die hard fans that turned many people on to U~2 & most people thought you were crazy UNTIL they listened...Kids these days have no clue about real talent..
Agree with thisimusic38. Most U2 fans these days think like started at Achtung Baby or dare I say, All That You Can't Leave Behind. Their first four albums are musical bible. This album gets slagged off by the press because it was sandwiched between Boy and War, both stronger albums. In my opinion, this is their most Irish album and "Tomorrow" is testament to that. The sounds and textures of this album conjure images of early 1980's Ireland.
Who tore the curtain? Who was it for?" -- Matthew 27:51: [The Crucifixion] "At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split."
The door imagery and "open up to the Lamb of God" is from Rev 3:20 when Jesus says: "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me."
Bono wrote this song about his mother who died. What's great about this song is that it turns into a song of hope. Open the door..(reffering to Jesus)..Open up to the Lamb of God..Jesus is coming! ..I'm gonna be there Mother! I'm gonna be there! Beautiful! =)
Music is, and will always be, a beautiful thing. Everyone is always talking about how music is terrible now, while they 'like' some kesha video, There will always be beautiful music being made, and obviously amazing music in the past, so anytime you watch a video on youtube about a not so famous song, like it and comment because it makes it more popular in a way. U2 is Legendary. <3 And still it will be, tomorrow.
@LuxVi7 yes the ones produced by steve lillywhite. Wonder if it could happen again probably not. I know he still works with em i mean just him and them
real? huh? I've listened to U2 since 1982. I listened to 'Tomorrow' before every exam I wrote in universtiy. This is already part of me. There are millions of 'real' U2 fans. How may kids catch on, not sure. But, U2 are not the saviours of mankind either, so I let my kids listen to Red Hot Chilis, Metallica and Beatles too.

Perhaps the most haunting, eerie, emotionally-charged song ever released. It is an edifice born out of Bono's sheer grief over the tragic loss of his mother, and his utter pining for her. In a way, it epitomizes the beauty of a musical creation, for it is a demonstration of how grief can be transformed in to beauty by putting it through a musical filter.
The lyrics can also depict the night a murderer came to kill someone in their home. black car parked down the side of the road, don't open the door. Who heals the wounds, who heals the scars. Since much of he rest of the album covers much of the battle in the north of Ireland, it would easily be found in this song..
I love the October album. Last month I found Windmill Lane when I was on a trip to Dublin and when I was stood outside the studio looking at the graffiti the intro to this song came into my head :-)
This song moves me to tears, I totally get it cuz I lost my father too soon and too young for both of us, I will miss him forever and always wish he could come back "Tommorow"... anyways I know how Bono feels... that deep in your soul longing for your lost parent.
My take on the song was the Return of Jesus Christ. Listen to 3:23 and they're belief in Jesus Christ and being with Him and his parents for eternity.
@theirishinc ---- I always understood this song to be the son's initiation into the resistance, i.e. the IRA. Thus, the sadness of the mom as echoed in "will you be back tomorrow?"
@mjabate I think its actually about Bono's mother dying when he was young. He grew up with his dad and older brother, and it was a very strained household. The death of his mom is a big source of his song writing. Obviously its a major event in his life. Yours is an interesting theory though, kinda cool cause it fits the song too

This song connects both Larry and Bono. They both lost their mothers at a very young age and in tragic circumtances. Bono's mother suffered a brain hemorrhage at her own father's funeral when Bono was just 14. Larry's mother was killed in a car crash when he was around About the same age as Bono.
The most underrated album of their career. The songs & their sound becoming established and their culture running out their pours in these recordings. They are the greatest band of my generation:)

Boy and October, two of the most underrated albums ever.
Seems like the only songs you ever hear on the radio are from The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby or All That You Can't Leave Behind.
Nothing wrong with those, it's just sad because U2 has so much more to offer than just three albums.

I used to lie awake, at nine years old, thinking, "Tomorrow morning, I'll wake up, and this will be a dream, and she'll be home, and okay, and everything will go back."
