Physics calculations on and AMD GPU are theoretically possible, but no game developer has enabled that in a game. It would be really awesome, but all that is available at the moment is the crappy PhysX from NVDA.

i had a bfg tech gtx 285oc and then i bought a bfg tech gtx 295. i had endless troubles with both cards and i made tests on my friend computer and same problems. now i have an ati saphirre 4890 atomic and no more problems. i love that card. i have always had amd processors but nvidia cards. from now on i will buy ati cards. my 4890 is rock solid and plenty fast.
This card fucking OWNS! I just got it. Its much cooler than the other 38 and 48 models but an after market cooler is always much better. Ultra quiet fan hahahaha... it's quieter than the other models but loud as hell when on high or medium settings. I had a 3870x2 which fried on me and was able to upgrade to this beast. I got lucky.

Crossfire is simpler and better a for multi monitor setup while doing an internal parallel circuit in the hardware and software at the same time with each card working with each other rather than having one two or three slave and one master. In crossfire, they're independent and work together like a parallel circuit.

Also, the 5000 series ATI will definitely rape Nvidia, and since the price will be fair, I doubt Nvidia will keep up. Also, AMD/ATI now has its own plant, and its in production. Nvidia has already hinted that they will buy parts from that FAB factory, but hasn't really said it as "finalized".....

ive been an nvidia fan boy fro a few years now but since the 4000 series came out ive just really changed my mind. i remeber seeing the 9800gtx come out then the 4850 beating it in every test then nvidia was pushed to come out with and overclocked version "+". amd has really come far with their graphics tech and is in my opinion slapping nvidia around forcing them to release new stuff which in turn came with a terrible name system... which this can be good for everybody now the pressure is on.

It is a pretty high level GPU, It is about the same level as the 275, which is actually a better performer than the gtx 280, so It's up there. The coolest thing is the price. 200 dollars??? GTX 275s are ranging from 230-270!

Are you fucking stupid? The GTX 295 is a MULTI-GPU solution. It's two graphics cores. The Radeon HD 4890 is a SINGLE-GPU solution. It's a single graphics core. So yes, he is correct; this is the fastest single GPU solution. Right now, the fastest multi-GPU solution is the GTX 295, followed by the Radeon HD 4870X2; however, if you put two 4890's in CrossFire, they're faster than the GTX 295.

No, it's not. It's been consistently shown that the GTX 295 is faster than it, and that they're on par at 2560x1600 resolution, but that a 4870 CrossFire will be about the same speed: somewhat slower in 1680x1050-1920x1200, but somewhat faster in 2560x1600. The only one that is slightly faster is the 4890 CF because it scores pretty much the same at resolutions lower than 2560x1600, but at 2560x1600 it's about 10% faster.

i had a bfg tech gtx 285oc and then i bought a bfg tech gtx 295. i had endless troubles with both cards and i made tests on my friend computer and same problems. now i have an ati saphirre 4890 atomic and no more problems. i love that card. i have always had amd processors but nvidia cards. from now on i will buy ati cards. my 4890 is rock solid and plenty fast.

This card fucking OWNS! I just got it. Its much cooler than the other 38 and 48 models but an after market cooler is always much better. Ultra quiet fan hahahaha... it's quieter than the other models but loud as hell when on high or medium settings. I had a 3870x2 which fried on me and was able to upgrade to this beast. I got lucky.

I have an ATI 4850 and like it. These guys here talk and talk and don't say anything new or interesting. Don't believe them about the super cooling. Get an accelro or another aftermarket cooler. My 4850 wetn from 82C default temp to 44C.

At 4:10 Chris mentions that the fan is super quiet? Is there a db measurement on this? I would think this is as false a statement as I've ever heard as those blower style fans create a lot of noise. There's nothing wrong with it, the card runs very hot in intense gaming, but saying it's quiet is a plain lie.

Crossfire is simpler and better a for multi monitor setup while doing an internal parallel circuit in the hardware and software at the same time with each card working with each other rather than having one two or three slave and one master. In crossfire, they're independent and work together like a parallel circuit.

Why would you get a 4830 when you can get a 4770? And the 4830 comes with 640SP the 4890 has 800SP. Unless you were taking about the gtx260 which you cant compare the amount of shaders to ATI cause Nvidia shaders are clocked WAY higher but have less.
