3DN borrowed lyrics from all the great writers of the day and put their stamp on it and made hit records all over the place. In the day THEY WERE BIG !! I remember their music even made it to the Saturday folk mass AT CHURCH. "Easy to Be Hard." Think about THAT !!
Good performance of the song. I like Otis Redding's version best of all. The Commitments also do a good performance. Frank Sinatra was the first one who sang this song.
@teegaro It was a roundabout way of saying: My first impression of Cory was - well, let's just say I referred to him as Goofy Smile Guy before I knew his name - but he's grown on me.
@Melvinfrench91 No they didn't. Nobody in the band did that. Chuck is touring now solo. Cory, Danny, Jimmy and Michael are touring now as Three Dog Night. Floyd is doing his own thing. The only one that has passed is Joe, who died of a massive heart attack.
@cindylcain59 Joe Schermie left the band in 1973 and was replaced by Jack Ryland. Both have since passed away. Jack never gets much credit today for playing on Shambala, The Show Must Go On, etc. Jack is on the cover of Seven Separate Fools.
I do love Chuck Negron but this song has been one of my favs from 3DN. That singer totally nailed this song........MAN does he have soul in his cords or what?
Most certainly it is the best version of this song. I had this on the album, Live at the Forum. Was a great album. Sorry, Otis just didn't have that great of a voice......certainly not as strong as this guy.
it couldn't get any RARE than this AMAZING video clip of the most Legendary Rock Group of the very late 60's & early to mid 70's THREE DOG NIGHT!..thx "SixtiesPopGold1" for load'n this up on YouTube! =0D
I'm sure this is the recording session for the version on the Golden Biscuits album. I listened to it about a million times in 1970. It's still awesome.
I remember reading how they would play the whiskey-a-gogo in LA starting out and the sidewalks would be pounding outside! Saw them in Allentown in 1970 and it is still probably the best concert I ever saw. amazing !
Excellent! 3DN was the very first concert I ever attended, in February 1970. They were great, and this was my favorite song of the evening. Closed the show with it, and I bet it went on for seven or eight minutes. A very class act.
@MrBigben1952 I believe that is Pat Vegas from Redbone sitting in for Danny Hutton. There is a close up on the video "Heaven Is In Your Mind" where he sings a line and it looks and even sounds a bit like Pat Vegas. Pat was looking just like that at that time. Would like to know the story on that though if it is him.
wow what soul, growing up with the music of the 70's was great. I think we had the best of times, when most groups could real sing with beautiful voices like theirs.
I'm really enjoying watch these old TDN videos. Love Corey's voice and this song in particular. Thanks for posting. This is a very early one. Where do you get these from?
I loved TDN when I was a teeny bopper, love them still.
They weren't the only ones to sing others songs, Elvis never wrote a lyric in his life and only won 2 grammy's for gospel.

The more 3 Dog Night performances I watch on youtube in which this singer takes center stage, the more I want to go back in time and sit on his d*ck.

@egghd1 I believe in giving credit where credit is due...Sad that some don't get it. I'm sure both of them are missed by the rest of the band.

@lsukate I thought it was directly from the GB album till the very end. It may still be and the end was changed or cut to make what appeared on GB.
