  • this song is so weird. i only heard it not too long ago for the first time and i thought that it was some recent rock song. only to find out that not only was it from the 80s but even by a band that usually only did more or less tacky pop songs...

  • I still love Susan Hoffs after all these years. 26 years that is.

  • The Best song this sophmoric band ever made..and it was Simon & Garfunkles first...

  • Love you David Lucas.

  • Just looked up the lyrics. Since 1987 I thought they said "He's a Salvation Army Man". And here I've been shopping at The Sally Ann hoping I would meet the Man of my dreams. Guess I should move on. Anyone been to Value Village?

  • At the time of the twilight of winter where the way home from work is cold, this music is sounding in the head.

It is the very favorite music of me who would like to come to hear it at this season.

  • the 80s was the last great decade in american history its been all down hill since

  • Needs more COWBELL.

  • @professorpierson Not B.O.C., sorry.

  • @thecarebearhideaqay. ... ditto! Wouldn't have missed for the world.

  • After all these years, the best ride from that video now is probably the vette!

  • I miss the 80's.

  • @iamstarstuff001 Me too! I was only born in 81, but I miss the '80s still.

  • @laurelfan1 I know how you feel! I mean, I was only born in '97, but I can still miss what I never had, right?

  • @milanosrp yep!

  • I love this song and one of my favorite movies of all time, this brings back good memories and gives me chills I was so much happier back then.

  • @mycg6249 Less then Zero!!!

  • Rare occurrence. The remake much >>> original! :)

  • All fit for sure and could Vicki's minidress be any shorter?

  • girls who rock always loved the bangles, all talented musicians fit too specially the drummer :p

  • Christopher Walken thinks this song NEEDS MORE COWBELL!

  • Posted this song on my profile...about three days ago... Reminded me of risky business scene with old time rock in roll song.. So posted that one to.Was bored. Having an 80's momment...Turned out to be a good day.

  • I do believe this is one of the best covers of a song that I have ever heard. I love Simon and Garfunkel's version but I love how The Bangles put a rockin spin on it and then turned it into such a kick ass Soundtrack song to one of the best 80's movies! The 80's put out some totally awesome movies. They just dont make movies like that today. Movies with substance and dealt with issues of the youth. What a great time to be alive back then. Glad I was there! Awesome song, Awesome movie! :-)

  • I'm an AC/DC, Stone Temple Pilots and Rush fan. I like my Rock but this song made me stand up and take notice...nearly fell outta my seat when I saw the video for the first time. Nice tune with an edge...they really took this song and made it there own!!!

  • There is nothing like the real thing, " Hazy Shade of Winter." ............ Danny

  • susanna is painfully hot.. sometimes there's a such thing as too good looking

  • And if you told me in 1995 that Robert Downey Jr. would be alive and still a huge star in 2011, I'd have called you a fucking moron.

That guy really beat the odds.

  • @IDCFFSGTFO Exactly! The perfect opposite of crackhead Sheen. This guy has BEEN THERE DONE THAT and came out the other side - good for him! I remember seeing this movie when it first came out - best anti-crack advert ever!

  • I think I like Simon and Garfunkel's original version more, but the electric guitar makes the hook seem much stronger in this version, which I also like.

  • @IDCFFSGTFO I don't think that this song is well suited to S&G's vocal skills. They have other songs that they can sing wonderfully, but they just don't seem able to properly *sing* this song. OTOH, the Bangles' voices seem wonderfully suited to this song.

  • @kanesgirl623 1987 movie less than zero

  • All in their 50's now, they are more beautifal and hotter than ever

  • Even now they could replay this and make a new video out of it and show their faces which has changed by time. How beautiful it would be and tearful maybe.

  • What movie is this from?

  • Oh My God!!! I love this song!!! When you hear music like this, it's really hard to let go of the 80's...

  • i know what you mean, listened to the song for the first in i dont know how many years and it still gave me goosebumps

  • @darrell2211 ..i know...the 80's were so fun and carefree.....also it was nice to have many record shops and music stores out there..it was all music practically...now it's too digitial and not personal....record stores were cool places to hang out

  • @darrell2211 Actually it is a song by Simon & Garfunkel from 1966.

However, the Bangles cover is indeed very good!

I agree that the 80's were hard to let go... but then again, my parents used to tell me that the 60's were hard to let go too...

    Cheers!

  • LOVE IT

  • the do it justice.

  • Chick Rockers Rock!

  • Sometimes in my nightmares I re-live the 80s

  • The Bangles Were hot, Still are hot, and will alwasy be hot.

  • one of the better songs of the 80s

  • Wow! The first time I've heard this version! I love the Simon & Garfunkel version so much....but this is one heck of a cool remake....and I don't generally like remakes.

  • awesome movie LES THAN ZERO with a strong message

  • This video should have more views......it's awesome!

  • This is one of the best young movies of the 80's and one of DOWNEY JR movies

  • still rockin' this song!

  • KICK-ASS

  • Must be Susanna's arrangement, she has a knack for rocking the classics.

  • what a beautiful amazing month: Dec. 87. in North Dallas. I was still shy of my 15th birthday. (9th in Titan years)

  • @TheMichaelSpock I was 11 and remeber the song and movie. I cried so hard when the charcater died because as a kid I was so used to happy endings and I really wanted him to survive. I am just glad that Robert Downey Jr. did not die in real life after what he's been through.

  • @sdseals2076 I was refering more to the great song itself and that time in my life. As far as covers go, it's outstanding. I didn't really see the film until 2000. I heard enough about it though in 87.

  • @TheMichaelSpock Oh, I was just saying how old I was to you saying you were 15. It's just funny, that now time seemed to fly by so quickly.

  • Susanna's still a HOTTIE...mmm...

Plus KZMN's got it playin' right now!!!

  • @ChuckieInMT

    Which one of them isn't?

  • @ChuckieInMT Debbie for me.

  • this is, by far, their best song... too bad it's a cover

  • Like if this song makes you wanna rip a white line!....

  • As someone who feels that no one really challenges the Beatles, this vocal harmony easily matches them, and in fact, exceeds. This is one of the most profound displays of vocal harmony that I have ever heard. I loved the Bangles. I'm sorry to see you go girls. You had more than you realized going for you.

  • @AmazGraz

You know this is a Simon and Garfunkel cover, right?

  • @SinSynn

Though the cover is way better then the original, for what it's worth.

  • @1503nemanja

Me too...these ladies took this tune to another level....and looked pretty good doing it ;)

  • Estas chicas son sinceramente un punto aparte, con este video las veo muy ROKERAS y eso me gusta, como decimos aqui en mi ciudad la sacaron del estadio,BANGLES son ELLAS!!!!!

  • a cover taken from the very best, deepest, most underappreciated album of S&G: Bookends. Not a turd on the whole album.

"Someone told me it's all happening at the zoo..."

  • I love the 80's everything was real

  • 5 american women that play with the intensity of say mettallica notice i said intensity nothing else

  • @crashsite000

The 45vinyl record and its sleeve credit The Bangles, Bill Drescher and David White with remix and "additional production".

  • esta cancion me trae mucho recuerdos de aquellos tiempos en los que no existia el regueton

  • this reminds me of how how andrew mccarthy and ESP ROBERT DOWNEY JR are

  • Less Than Zero is the best soundtrack I've ever owned.

  • what i love about the 80's is it was all talent. not this junked up crap...and i'm 13

  • when this song first came out the local radio statioin put this version together with simon and garfunkel version one right after the other it was great can not find one on youtube can not even find the original.

  • they did an awesome job with this simon and garfunkel song.

  • In 1987, I would have sold my grandmother to the gypsies to have Andrew McCarthy kiss me like that!

  • that was kick-ass

  • @crashsite000 nope your correct rick ruben produced it..they wanted to record the song with more of a live feel to it....still a great pop tune to this day!!

  • Truly, truly epic. One of the best bits of 80's music.

It's rare that a cover does good service to an original. It's even rarer that a cover is better than the original. Here we have such a precious specimen.

The drums. Oh my holy daaaaayum, those drums!

  • The 80s when music merged with tv....the world would never be the same....what a time to be alive absorbing the pop culture explosion

  • Smoooooookin!

  • @crashsite000 Rick Rubin AND The Bangles

  • @crashsite000 The Song Was Produced By Rick Ruben AND The Bangles.

  • @hilltopjack COW BELLS RULE

  • @crashsite000 You always need more.....

  • this is one of the few songs that I like better than the original

  • nice try but it just lacks feeling :P

  • Needs more cowbell

  • I just nostalgia'd all over the place.

  • Susanna Hoffs grrrrrr.............The Bangles grrrrrrrr x4 !! Me likeeeee

  • Totally awesome song...their best by far. However, that was one seriously F'ed up movie. Vicki was sooooooooooooooooooooo the hottest Bangle.

  • This is my favorite song from the BANGLES. I wish I could live the 80'S again.

  • Good song. Always thought it was quite different than the original. After seeing this, I went to the S&G song and was surprised at how true the Bangles version is to the original.

Makes me wonder what other Simon and Garfunkel songs would have sounded like if the Bangles did them.

  • oh wow its Jami gertz

  • @SlugGoll: Excellently said! One of the best films of the 80's. I still watch it on Netflix.

  • If you're too young to have ever seen the movie "Less Than Zero," you should check it out. The performances by Robert Downey, Jr. and James Spader dominate the film. Robert Downey, Jr. is scary good as a young drug addict on a downward slide to losing everything. Talk about "art imitating life" (or is it "life imitating art"...). If you want a James Spader double-feature, check-out "Bad Influence."

  • the audio sounds messed up.. the guitar goes in and out.

  • @Scobo11 it may be because it is mono here instead of stereo.

  • @crashsite000 Actually, in a couple of 80's compilation CD's I have, this song sounds very similar to this video. Maybe it's simply how it was meant to be recorded...??? I don't know. I do know that for a very long time, I thought there was something wrong wtih the first CD I heard this song on.

  • @crashsite000 it was actually recorded like that, in channels. does that on the original track from the less than zero soundtrack.

  • @Scobo11 ITS ONLY A VIDEOO

  • @Scobo11 Bad panning in the mixing, it's stereo though. It's even in color! They acually had that back then!

  • @Pandaemonium1969 Yeah, the 80's had color.

  • @Scobo11 In stereo the guitar hard pans back and forth from left to right.

  • @Scobo11 I think it's always been off now that I think of it. That was my only pet peeve about this song :/

  • @Scobo11 the original was in stereo, and they mixed it so there is two parts.. the electric guitar would shift from left to right as that part was played.. but this is a mono recording of it, so part of the song is actually missing!

  • Easy, she twisted the guitar so that the side was between her legs and she proceeded to slide up and down the side of the guitar. That is how she humped it.

  • I'll be in my bunk.

  • Comment removed

  • @gearkat glad u got to see that. no doubt more than a few guys were heading to the restroom after that. thx for sharing!!

  • Love that movie Less than zero!

  • I just knw this 1 and it rocks! I loved the 80's! El Monte High! It rocked! Elaine was the coolest chick!

  • This version is NOT better than the original by Simon & Garfunkel. And that's just my opinion. I could go into why, but does anyone really care? (I'm not slamming this version, but the original in this instance is better).

  • @tbirdtim It's better....by far, and that's just my opinion!

  • Best version of this song; so fascinating with the arrangement Bangles has done to it; matches the ambiance of the lyrics perfectly!!

    ed

  • better than the original.

  • More Cowbell! LOL!

  • "you fucked up, you look like shit, but hey no problem. all you need is a better cut of cocaine"

  • The Drug Movie of all time. It brings SCARFACE to your home.

  • The Drug Movie of all time.

  • Awesome song to drive to - especially at night, flying down the highway got ya got no sense!

  • so hot

  • i miss my childhood

  • Although they had a number 1 on the pop charts, I'm not sure they were better than The Go-Gos. I'm just not sure at this point. Nice tune, by the way.

  • It's particularly interesting as it is a very different interpretation of the music, rather than just a rehash of the original. The Bangles gave it their sound, rather than trying to replicate S&G's, which is pleasingly refreshing.

  • A two for one: hottie chicks doing an awesome cover.

  • Normally, covers suck giant hairy assholes.

    But not this one.

  • Great voices great band great cover..
