this song is so beautiful, and heartbreaking at the same time. It was the song that made me fall in love with Mark Kozelek's music. Best line "glass on the pavement under my shoe...without you is all my life amounts to"
The haunted lyrics surrounded by the fluttery guitar melodies make this song unforgettable for me. Oh and the fact that London is mentioned in it makes me perfectly relate to it.
One of my favourite songs of all time. It just kills me. So powerful and heartbreaking every time. If you like this kind of music, you should check out ''Fragile Bones(Feels Like Home)'' by Ali Murray, or anything by Ali Murray for that matter. His music is so dreamy and sad and beautiful.
Slow Core, Slate Edge nah just Drift Rock. When I heard Katy Song I was hooked . It was like discovering Low all over again, Roller Coaster is great. Now this is just my opinion but doesn't Red House Painters Roller Coaster and The Sundays Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic sound of the catalyst for the Slow Core genre?
I'm sure all true RHP fans know this but just in case...I like to help people discover great music! Mark's Sun Kil Moon album ADMIRAL FELL PROMISES is a must listen! Beautiful masterpiece. Just Mark and his guitar mostly. And damn, he's a great player.
RHP fans, would you take a few minutes to go to reverbnation dott comm slash Garcon Rouge, listen to a few tracks, and then message me what you think. I've never put up any music before and want to get some objective opinions of people that don't know me but at least listen to similar music. It's all rough but I need some feedback. there's even a Nick Drake cover of "know".
I absolutely love RHP/Kozelek. This song is so sick, it carries me through to another place. If you like this kind of music, you should check out ''Fragile Bones(Feels Like Home)'' by Ali Murray, or anything by Ali Murray for that matter. His music is so dreamy and sad and beautiful.
That song makes me cry so much. Me and my ex boyfriend, had such a dramatic relationship, it was a fail. We used to listen this song, because he liked so much Red house Painters.
"I know tomorrow you will be somewhere in London, living with someone, you got somekind of familiy there to turn to, and that's more than I could ever give you" .
Song reminds me of my ex Ron and how he cheated on me, But more difficult was that he needed everyone's attention all the time. Hope he's worked things out and is happy.
Not sure I should ever listen to this song again. Not because its bad, its brillian. But, in all honesty its too upsetting and just makes me think of the failures in my romantic life, though in this case I'm the one off to London. :-P
Is there any better song to hear when your own relationship is drifting into the last stages of goodbye? "This path seems the blackest, but I guess it's the soonest" is a very fine lyric...
how can i not have known this? and how come no one i know knows this band? i've just listened to two of their songs and i'm already sold, and this usually takes some time.
i used to listen to this song on repeat when i was a teenager. i still think its great but ive heard it so many times i cant even listen to it all the way anymore
It's regrettable but you forget about amazing bands like Red House Painters in formative years when your compelled to listen to stuff like KoRn... But 4AD always commanded excellent, not your immediate attention.
@munk18 Write an essay entitled "Without you, my life amounts to..." where you list all of the positive aspects of him leaving. Tell him to move to London and live with someone. That should clear him out.

@sundevilscott To me, it sounds like it was sourced incorrectly or something. If you notice, it sounds like the drum hit was missed like two seconds earlier, and it happened around the same time as the other one. Just poor coding, perhaps.
@sundevilscott I have the same extra beat on my CD. I had the original tape, but think I must have downloaded the CD from Kazaa years ago. I guess there was a dodgy MP3 file in circulation.

this band has something no other band or artist could only dream of they have passion deep meaningful lyrics the sort of lyrics that could carry you away somewere youve never witness before until it ends you go back to real life well if thats what you call it
Cizcan this is a very reflective set list garunteed to bring the blues to the front..... I feel that way too. sometimes. and we live in a world that encourages fear and coldness. please know that someone heard you..... It is very human to feel dread. Keep reaching out to people you trust
My dreadful feeling usually shows itself in loneliness.... be an artist today and share that feeling in a drawing or poem... It really does matter. You matter. Now go listen to a song with hope.
rktsncalnc... why the imposters body spray stuff. their are MANY good sad songs, while this is true, and nothing on Nina Simone, if you think it's sooooo great, go ahead and post it instead of attempting to cross pollinate genres. those of us listening to this know of Nina and have the functionality since we're here on earth and in the US to check her out in the time that's been allotted to us. and also, thanks terribly for letting all of us in on that whole "Itunes" thing.

I feel so amazingly lonely...God, I didn't think I could ever be succeptable to such a dreadful feeling...I'm cold and afraid.
