The chords are the top three strings of A, D, and E. Just like the powerchords. Then walk the base line up, over, and back to the root note. The improv is Am and Am pentatonic. (If that helps.)
@albinowolf2 thanks, kindly. if you're into this, you can grab it on "Street Corner Gothic". the album after that I started incorporating electronics: "Booty Music for Zombie Swingers". the one coming up, i'm looking for blues-rock with disco beats. anyway, they're all here zombieswingers(dot)bandcamp(dot)com. pay what you want, if you want, or just send me something cool.
@TheGent85 So close! I live in Vancouver, a metropolitan centre. I haven't been in a Starbuck in over 4 years and I've been unable to work steadily due to spinal injury and nerve problems for the past two years. Since I've been off drugs, I've made quite a bit of music (working on my fourth album) and written several books: all very dark. I have been calling this a fusion of blues-jazz and Romantic poetical form: 'gothic jazz'. I think that's what it is. What would you call it?
@thesurrationalone sorry man. iam just use to regular blues. i live in south side of chicago (right by the jail) all my life. blues is my birth right. i am not saying you don't got it in ya. i am just saying you dont have to dress up the blues so much. i do like your choice of chords.
@TheGent85 So true. I love the Chicago Blues (Howlin' Wolf being the origin of Rocknroll as far as I'm concerned) and John Lee (Detroit) but I am obsessed with the ragtime guys (Skip James, Leadbelly) and Son House. I taught myself classical guitar, so I don't think I'll ever do it like them. That's okay. I'll do it like me. Somebody sent me a rad blues documentary on youtube. I'll send it your way.
@RnBeat1994 That's interesting. I wonder what you mean by "destroy the feelings". The way I think of this music I'm making is like the old blues of Son House with the poetry of Lord Byron or Percy Shelley (the 19th century gothic poets). I think you're think right that it doesn't bounce like a blues rock, but I think it is still blues.
@TheSupersurgical It just sings, eh. I got mine 7 years ago, and it sounds better every year, and I'm not exactly gentle with it either. La Patrie. I've heard it called "a Canadian guitar empire". I've got two of their classicals and serious electric cravings.
@thesurrationalone ...dont ever put steel strings on that Geet it will get pissed @ you. I went crazy and tried to string it up with steel, had to get a new knob afer it went flying off.
pretty cool. i like the whole concept you have going. i thought this song was pretty awsome, but i feel like you were forcing your blues voice a little bit. i think it would sound better if you sang with more of your normal voice. also, i think a little more bending and syncopation would sound better, i heard some, but more would be better. still, you stand out to me among all the other youtube singer songwriters.
@DillonDemas Thanks, man. I really appreciate that. The voice is always growing, always changing. Did you hear the recorded version? It's more fun for a few reasons: 1) It sounds better, 2) It's on youtube with burlesque photos of the woman who inspired the song. The album this song ended up on ("Street Corner Gothic") is free on the site. And the next album will be free-leased pretty soon too ("Booty Music for Zombie Swingers"). I'd love to know what you think of the recent work.
This is standard. I guess the walking baseline and the pick-up note are what make this sound different than most metal riffs. That's E-G-C-A, and I pluck the higher part of the chord before the bass.
Actually, I am about 120 years too young to have been the father of the blues. But thanks for the compliment. I really do prefer modern day razor-loving goth sluts. If you are not a razor-loving goth slut, your comments are irrelevant to me. If you know any razor-loving goth sluts, please send them my videos.
Oh, you're unintentional flattery is just too much! I'm blushing. 30 is next year, buddy. That info is on my channel, along with a whole lot of original material that is now taught in some Canadian schools. Believe me: My only problem with pussy is 24 hours in a day, my friend, just 24 hours in a day. ...And I'm sure you can't do anything close to what I do on the guitar. Challenge: Figure out 1 verse of "Pretty Little Birds" within a month from now and post it as a video response. Good luck!
Oh I see so u are already essentially 30! Wow...ur more pathetic than I thought. I would have figured in 3 decades you would have developed a little bit more musical skill than that of a 7th grade music class and your lyrics? Ha, I've never heard more self-glorifying, narcissistic bullshit. Oh yea pussy all the time right, youtube is just full of that right? lol A 30 year old boy, who still wears eyeliner and thinks hes a rock star. Did your brain just stop growing at 14 or something?
Use Ex-lax. It helps people like you so full of shit the brown turds fall off your lips and fingertips and into youtube comments. The challenge stands: One month to learn 30 seconds of one of my classical songs. I already know you can't. I have seen all of the insults written on your page. I wonder why you invite such hatred into your life? You seem like a damaged person. I'm sorry for whatever bad things happened to you to make you express yourself the way you do. May your life improve.
Choir sounds like a great idea. Did you download the album? This track is cut with rich harmonies. Maybe like your choir idea. It's my favourite on the album. The link is in the 'more info' part.
Well, then, I guess you're right. I didn't realize until you said that. Thanks for showing me the error of my ways. Do you think I should I remove the dozens of original jazz songs on my channel and replace them with acoustic guitar tracks of old pop songs?
@BrightMilo Alright. I tap. Sometimes, I'm a dick. I'm coming around to grunge music. This has been 20 years in the making. I don't know if I'll ever make it, but... What should I listen to? What do you love about it? Who did it best, worst, and in between?
yeah, that's kinda the point. me being happy about my new book, doesn't have much to do with my having a razor-loving dominatrix ex-girlfriend, by the way. you should listen to or read that story, actually. it's a tragedy of isolation, written for children. it tends to make people cry. you might try reading a few of my books or listening to a couple albums before calling me a fake. or maybe even watch a second video? i wonder what counts these days as informed criticism in the world of youtube.
