  • @sp45ih So why did Eldritch say "I am Goth"?

  • Placebo is goth, The Rasmus is fun, jajajajaj. An authentic goth from the eighties...

  • Placebo is goth, The Rasmus is fun, jajajajaj. An authentic goth from the eighties...

  • ts'like a gay Edward Furlong...

  • hm i am lonely goth girl looking for some company

  • i am gothic too and bored like hell if anyone is up for chat let me know

  • @cosmicnights

he's not fucking emo nor a kid get a fucking life you barbie piece of shit

    brian is sexy, FUCK YOU!!

  • Placebo is one of the most genre-free bands. At some shows they definitely looked glam, goth, punky, sometimes pure nancy boyish stuff. They've just never been afraid to do whatever they felt like at the time, without feeling a need to belong somewhere. Actually not many bands, artists OR people in general are brave enough or have that particular talent to be as unique as Placebo's fashion style and music have always been. Labeling such a band is a sign of insensitivity to me.

  • I like this video. its all about The Gothic Wave!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a stinking pile of turd this show was. Such preachy shite. Barmey guests and opinions nobody gave two fcuks about.

  • Fuck your ass

  • is that not Timmy Mallet?

  • Let me add that Brian Moloko's criticism of "Goth" applies most of all to Marilyn Manson who is the epitome of style over substance. And yet Brian is careful not to say anything disparaging of Manson who is the worst poser of all time; that is, the worst poser next to Brian Moloko himself.

  • AMEN!

  • "Or maybe it is just reading too many Anne Rice books." Brian, I love your ironic outputs :-)

  • The curly haired guy knew his stuff.

It still irks me that Manson has to come up in every goth discussion. Especially next to March Violets, Death Cult, and ya know...goth bands.

  • @Justyn1337 That confused me, yeah. They just jumped from goth and deathrock to the shock metal of Manson like it was a perfectly natural progression...

  • Who is the dark haired guy? He looks familiar

  • shit. Placebo is the best you kid of war.

  • did anyone ever see Placebo and The Rasmus in the same room? both the same generic pop-esque nonsense.

    thought not.

However if someone does achieve the feat could they add marilyn manson and a stick of dynamite?

  • @kpuc1973 You've never actually heard Placebo play, have you? ; )

  • @tainteddeity yes, they sound like The Rasmus

  • @kpuc1973

Yeah... you've never heard Placebo play before.

  • @tainteddeity more likely you've never heard the rasmus play.

  • @kpuc1973

Turning my own comments against me only makes sense if they're true, snookums.

I won't disagree that The Rasmus play fairly generic, angsty teen rock but Placebo really don't.

  • Poser-fest.

  • I absolutely love the song MoonChild! It's one of my favourite songs.:)

  • to me Deathrock is the only true music.

  • Well, I personally think music is music no matter what the genre, whether it be folk, country, classical, punk, gothic, metal, ancient, etc. Except for the mainstream genres of today like pop and rap....

  • I luv how Brian is so honest to talk, perfect.

  • brian is hot as usual!

  • Great Brian..

  • Gothic is a term for mediaeval church architecture, and 19th century remodels, but the word Goth is applied to the late 70's early 80's New-Wave post punk subculture, that came out of punk, the look is seen in Gary Numan, Bauhaus, Japan, Real Life, The Cure, and even early Dave Gahan dressed that way, lol.

  • You made me laugh out loud. Whenever someone does that I feel the need to tell them.

Your statement is very grammatically incorrect (but maybe english is not your first language so that is okay). Also, you are stating the very obvious- yes, the guy from Placebo comes across faggy. Does he try not to- probably not. Personally I think he is fairly adorable as is.

  • i disagree the style was just as intense as the music

  • Ah..death rock. It's a shame no one seems to remember that term anymore.

  • It was never known as Deathrock in the UK in the 80's, at least not up here in Yorkshire, (the birthplace of goth). It was called just "Goth", plain and simple! :-)

  • @ttwnrancon well,,herein mexico deatgrock term is overused.. obviously that's a shame,, cause now deathrock idea seems to be for mayority ,, an excuse to overdrive goth with zombies and halloween elements and an annoying fake everthing goes with sex preference atittude.. don't missunterstand me.. but it's a shame D.R. is more asociated with the zombie gimmick instead the vision of christian death and the burning image..

  • The fact that MM was brought up with nodding heads from all makes me rather doubtful of any of their opinions to be honest.

  • Why? This was recorded in 1997, back then MM still got a lot of "goth-qualities"

  • I've got a problem with people calling this music goth. These bands loathed the term. So calling them that is of the utmost disrespect.

  • Why are there so many bands that loath being referred to as goth?

I was not alive or pop culturally aware for any period of time when goth was trendy (Unless you count the little bit extra corpse makeup My Chemical Romance encouraged teens to wear- but I do not).

  • Where's the rest?

  • i didn´t understand the parts when day talk about The Sisters Of Mercy, someone can write it for me?

  • wow what a tool

  • Wow....that James guy metioned Danse Society!

    He sure knows great music..

  • he is from danse society.

  • who are the other two guys other than molko and jo whiley

im really interested in who they are

  • one is Hugh Morgan, singer with Fun Lovin Criminals..no idea about the guy in the specs though.

  • Hughie Morgan and James Brown (Journalist).

  • This is a wonderful interview!

  • I've never seen something better than Brian Molko in this video. I LOVE HIM. THANK YOU!!!! *___*

  • ohh amazing. i love how brian molko says goths dress stupid even though he's worn some of the ugliest dresses I've ever seen.

  • amazing, thanks!!

  • maxium cuteness :) thanx for sharing

  • I fucking love you :O

    More?

  • No more unfortunately. I stopped the video recording when they stopped talking about goth.

  • veo ciertas coincidencias con el pete de wanda nara
