hi your videos are brilliant i just wondered could you answer me these questions, im currently on my third day of using retin A and my skin has gone soooo dry and ugly can i use a cream with glycolic acid in the morning and retin a at night will the glycolic acid cream help wih the dryness as its impossible to cover the dryness its abit embarrassing while out and about. kind regards sara

hi there! love this videos. yesterday i began using retin-a and i think ive done enough resarch but one thing is still bothering me; i hear that you say that its not worth using retin-a with aha/bha products at the same time but as ive heard from many other places that you got alot of benifits using a glycolic cleanser (ca 10% aha) before the retin-a you give the retin-a a bit of a boost in getting down to the dermis? is that correct? would be so happy for a response! :) thank you!

I hate waiting 10 min to put on my retinol cream...is it ok to put a basic (non active ingredient) moisturizer on right after washing and then put on retinol 10-20 minutes later?

Also, does the "you skin gets worse before it gets better" skin stay that way if you don't continue to use the retinol? I'm trying to stick with it this time but the dryness looks so bad. I feel like ther is permanent dryness wrinkling from on off use of retinol

Will getting monthly glycolic "lunchtime" peels at the dermatologist office offer the same anti-acne and anti-aging benefits as using retin-a regularly? I get really red, irritated, and flaky with retin-a and would like to try something new.

i have a few questions. i have red marks/scars on my face from acne. they arent ice picks or deep depressions, they are just red hyperpigmentation scars from acne. i have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to get retin A, i was just wondering if it would help reduce these red scars? i also use the proactive system as well as st.ives microdermabrasion daily, so i was wondering if i could still use these products once on retin A. @phototristan You are right. This dermatologist doesn't really know about chemistry, other than the chemical he uses for the purported use. Tretinoin(Retinoic acid) is very photodegradable, rapidly broken down into ineffective metabolites. however one may use a concoction of various acid along with Retin A simultaneously. because Retin A simply an acid and doesn't react with acids unless the acid is highly oxidizing like nitric acid, Is also incompatible with other oxidizing agents, B.Peroxide

hi Dr. Schultz first your videos are amazing i learned so much from it .... i have a question for u can i use Retin-A on my butt?? i suffered from butt acne from a long time it's so embracing i tried so many things that are used on the face to treat acne it sometimes work but when i stop using them it returns back .can retin -A help with the acne and scars and for how long i should be using it and if i stopped using is it possible to get back acne...i really need your advice..thanks alot

I have tanned skin, i have used the retin a as my derm wanted me to however after i stopped using it I was shocked when my skin became very very dark , I did not expose my self to the sun neither used other products beside it and i don't have any allergy , what do you think happened?

I use Retin A Micro .01% is this different than Retin A. I read Retin A can be used for wrinkles. Is this true and/or are the two different? I'm a confused adult with acne. I am also 29 and could this (Retin A Micro) help future wrinkles from appearing? Thank you. Amanda

If you only used retin a micro once, how many days afterwards do you have to wait to go out in the sun with just a regular moisturizer

@alreadycrowning: I don't believe anyone should go out in the sun without sunscreen and having used any Retin-A once will not cause a sunburn if you are using effective sunscreen.

@imafanofamylee Thank you for your kind words! Retin-A is a very weak collagen builder for scars so it is unlikely appreciably help deep scars but can't hurt. Because Retin-A can make your skin sensitive, I would recommend against all physical exfoliant use with Retin-A which is a chemical exfoliant itself.

@imafanofamylee Yes, in many cases of acne that can be an effective combination. Regarding your second question, Retin-A can eliminate many blackheads in 1-4 months.

definitely NOT a good idea to use Retin-A in the mornings.

@natefan Actually, you can use Retin-A in the morning. You may have heard not to use it because Retain-A can be photosensitizing (i.e., making you more sensitive to the sun), but that will occur whether you use it during the day or during the night. Thus, if you are using Retin-A, you should also be using sunscreen.
